@Gusto HILARIOUS!!! :)
MassExecutions - 4/10/2012, 2:30 PM
I've decided we don't know who they are because:

a)the answer is of no consequence to the story,

b) there made up for the movie or BARELY mentioned in the comic, with no backstory.
Fogs - 4/10/2012, 2:31 PM
They're from melmac.
Shadow101 - 4/10/2012, 2:32 PM

Lord Loki has spoken
Niuhll - 4/10/2012, 2:34 PM
Makes sense for the Bugle to be in there. I think, even if this is just a little tease.
THEDARKNIGHT100 - 4/10/2012, 2:34 PM
oh no daily bugle come on spiderman is not in it ok joss confirmed
gamecreatorjj - 4/10/2012, 2:36 PM
@skeemen i doubt that, the best kept secrets are the 2014/15 projects for marvle, the TDKR ending, which only 4 people know of, the fact that ducard was ras was an epic secret, it affected the toys that came out, neeson's role in TDKR, two face being in the the dark knight, all these things really meant something to the film and story, the aliens could be any race and it wouldnt matter
Macksimus - 4/10/2012, 2:37 PM
the shape of the helmets reminds me of a Skrull's head, but I don't see how skrulls can be fleshed out properly in this movie which only has a few Avengers/super-powered heros in it.
juliochapulin - 4/10/2012, 2:38 PM
OMG is Daily Bugle????? the amount of awesome is over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imnotwearinghockeypants - 4/10/2012, 2:42 PM
They look like He-Man characters.
Niuhll - 4/10/2012, 2:43 PM
@gamecreatorjj

Though true, over the last few days we have been staring at close ups of them, and we still have no idea who they are, if they're from the comics or created for the movie. And we won't find out until it's release.

It's the best kept secret that was ever flaunted around in front of our faces in comic book movie history.
GUNSMITH - 4/10/2012, 2:43 PM
POSSIBILITIES...

Skrulls – On the pro side, the mystery army does appear to be green, and the Skrulls are the most famous alien race to fight the Avengers in the comic books. Also, the facial outline matches up well with the Skrulls. On the con side, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already gone on record as saying they are not Skrulls.

Frost Giants – On the pro side, the faces on the mystery army do bear a striking resemblance to Frost Giants. It would also make sense from the perspective that the Frost Giants were part of the Thor movie. On the con side, the army appears more green in color than Frost Giant blue.

Badoons – On the pro side, the Badoons are a reptilian alien race with a green skin color exactly like the mystery alien race shown in The Avengers. On the con side, the Badoons usually go shirtless rather than decked out in hi-tech armor like shown in The Avengers. Also, the features of the mystery army seem to be more insect-like than reptilian.

Annihilus And His Minions – On the pro side, the mystery army appears to have somewhat of an insect-like appearance, and Annihilus is an Insectoid. There were also rumors last year that Loki would invade Earth through the negative zone. On the con side, Annihilus is more of a Fantastic Four villain, and FOX could have the movie rights to him.

Knights Of Wundagore – On the pro side, the contraption that Loki is riding looks almost exactly like an atomic steed, which is used by the Knights of Wundagore. On the con side, now that we have a better view of the Loki’s actual army, they look nothing like the Knights Of Wundagore.

Sons Of Muspell – On the pro side, several of the scenes from The Avengers trailer do match up pretty well with scenes from an old Thor comic featuring an invasion by the Sons of Muspell. On the con side, the mystery alien army doesn’t look very much like the way the Sons of Muspell have appeared in the comic books.

Atlanteans – On the pro side, previous movies like Iron Man 2 have dropped hints about Atlantis, and it would be a great way to introduce the Sub-Mariner into the Marvel film universe. On the con side, the mystery army appears more green in color than Atlantean blue.

Alpha Centaurians – On the pro side, the mystery army looks a lot like the Alpha Centaurians from the points on the head to the three toes. Since the Alpha Centaurians are notorious for stealing water, it could also be another way to bring the Sub-Mariner into the picture. On the con side, other features of the mystery army don’t match up quite as well, and they are one of the more obscure Marvel Comics alien races.
So what is your guess as to who the mystery alien (or not alien) army is? Our bets lean toward the Badoons, Alpha Centaurians, and Annihilus and his minions based on appearance. But we think the Atlanteans would make for a great story, and they would be a good fit for Leviathan if that rumor is true (and it does look like the army could be jumping from the tale of some type of sea creature).

@gamecreatorjj

Two Face being in The Dark Knight was a secret was it? I'm in awe!
JorLBola - 4/10/2012, 2:46 PM
The Daily Bugle!!! That's as close as you'll see spiderman :(
MassExecutions - 4/10/2012, 2:48 PM
@GUNSMITH

1) Why didn't you just make this an article...or have you already?

2) What are you talking about "insect like"? I though that they looked like they had animal skull faces.
Luminus - 4/10/2012, 2:49 PM
Someone get a hi-res shot of that Daily Bugle newspaper! Let's see who the editor is.
ralfinader - 4/10/2012, 2:53 PM
I really believe the people on this site have put way more energy into the alien's identities than Marvel Studios did. Do not be suprised when you are walking out of the movie when it is all said and done, and are still scratching your head over who those aliens were.
HelaGood - 4/10/2012, 2:54 PM
theres your Spider-man cameo!
Niuhll - 4/10/2012, 2:55 PM
PatientZero

If they aren't from Earth, Humans would class it as an Alien, like Thor is.
Ironnick - 4/10/2012, 2:59 PM
very cool,does any one know when thes guys will be out in stores.
Fogs - 4/10/2012, 3:02 PM
@ralfinader - yeah man, I'm seriously thinking that way too now...

My guess is that it's either some other character's generic army (thanos, for example) or an unnamed force Loki spawns.
CrimsonComedian - 4/10/2012, 3:06 PM
@GUNSMITH Thank you very much for that roundup! I think it is very unlikely that they are Atlantians. They look nothing like Atlantians. I'd love for Namor to enter the MCU at some point, but not like this.
My bet is the Alpha Centurions. There doesn't seem to be much comic lore on them, and they look almost similar to the aliens we've seen.
It has to be the Alpha Centurions or the Badoon. Smaller name aliens are easy to change from the source material.
Hulk2008 - 4/10/2012, 3:23 PM
They may also be the Korbinites (Beta Ray's alien race)

Gaurdian88 - 4/10/2012, 3:33 PM

is it just me or do they have 2 thumbs on one hand?
Wildaniel - 4/10/2012, 3:45 PM
Daily Bugle? Thats a Spiderman owned brand right? Meaning owned by Sony? Thats surprising.

I just thought of a cool easter egg for the movie. Show a newspaper stand with Spiderman on the cover of the Daily Bugle!
Fogs - 4/10/2012, 4:10 PM
@Wildaniel - when you get off the big screens marvel can do anything they want. The cancelled game even had the Super Skrull with FF and X-Men powers...
Lazarus - 4/10/2012, 4:43 PM
Three toes, TWO thumbs.. I can't think of any aliens offhand that matches that.. hell with all of these body shots and even some face shots it doesn't help at all..
R888 - 4/10/2012, 4:49 PM
Oh god I hope that Daily Bugle is in the film
pointman - 4/10/2012, 5:03 PM
It is not the korbonites. Beta Ray Bill got the horses snout after he completed in the gladatiorial games for being his planets champion to defend them agaisnt the demon hordes of surtur. The korbonites have humaniod features, minus a nose. He was augmented as a cyborg and surgically altered to be as grotesque as can be.
