First Appearance Of Iron Man In TALES OF SUSPENSE #39 Sells For A Record Price
A CGC 9.6 copy of Iron Man's first appearance has sold for a record price just a week before he and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble on the big screen in North America. Hit the jump for details.
With The Avengers currently assembling in theatres worldwide, it's not hard to imagine why the first appearances of the team members are selling for record prices. In the past year, The Avengers #4 CGC 9.6 sold for $91,500, Captain America Comics #1 CGC 9.2 for $343,000, Journey into Mystery #83 CGC 9.4 for $222,200 and Avengers #1 CGC 9.6 for $250,000. Bleeding Cool now reveal that Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 9.6 has been sold for $375,000 through Comiclink. There are only three issues with this grade in existence, and this easily breaks the record set in March 2011 when a CGC 9.4 copy of the comic was sold for £147,500. The comic, which features the first appearance of Iron Man in a story by Stan Lee and Don Heck, is sure to only increase in value when the armoured Avengers returns to the big screen in Iron Man 3 next year.
