Report Comment horrible idea, horrible artwork.

100% AGREED. God Humberto sucks hard. Everything looks like a Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. Spiderman and Alpha? Yeah, that has a ring to it. Stupid shit...
Sortis - 6/27/2012, 9:02 AM
ah i like it...can't wait to see how this turns out
SuperSomething616 - 6/27/2012, 9:03 AM
Interesting...Peter actually responsible for the creation of a teenaged superhero...i like it!!!
marvel72 - 6/27/2012, 9:07 AM
does spider-man really need a sidekick,i don't think so.

i'll have to read the issue to see if i like the idea.
AlSimmons - 6/27/2012, 9:12 AM
Parker Particles, eh? Looks like Pete is stepping up in his genius. And as for Alpha... Oh yayyyyy another self-pitying teen who's jealous of people with muscles because they get all teh womenz. yayyyyyy.
RSDhillon - 6/27/2012, 9:15 AM
It's not that he needs a sidekick. He doesn't NEED a sidekick. He didn't decide, "Frick, I need help from a kid who needs help!" The kid was on a field trip, and there was an accident (like Spidey's).
LucasMend - 6/27/2012, 9:16 AM
A sidekick for spider-man is the stupidest idea I've ever seen
TrueRedBlue - 6/27/2012, 9:20 AM
THAT is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Spidey with a side kick?
XxSnakeProxX - 6/27/2012, 9:25 AM
I dont like the idea of Spidey with a sidekick at all, unless hes not literally a sidekick, just a new hero being shown the ropes a bit. Problem is, Spidey has already done that a few times, so this idea isnt that great to begin with. Either way, Slott is great, and that artwork is gorgeous! Definitely will continue getting ASM.
Cosmic1 - 6/27/2012, 9:26 AM
Stupid, just stupid! They really know how to mess up an iconic comic book, I mean TASM has been going down hill for a while and this is surely going to help speed that process up. I wonder when Wolverine will get a sidekick?
CaptainObvious - 6/27/2012, 9:37 AM
Giving him a sidekick contradicts the whole point of the character Spider-Man is.
JoeTheCEO - 6/27/2012, 9:39 AM
"Andy Maguire" ?

Oh, I get it, he's named after Andrew Garfield AND Tobey Maguire
Clever..

Sidekick?!?!?
antman73 - 6/27/2012, 10:34 AM
Dan Slott is Great!!! Not only he wrote the best spiderman since Stan Lee, he made me love the character again, not only he gave him new direction for the future that no other writers could ( not even Peter David and JM DeMatteis ) but this preview hook me like no others did!! he almost re-wrote PP origin but for a new prospective. Now it's Peter the scientist that created the origin...
I'm looking forword to read it!!!
Hope Dan Slott write one of the Avengers titles once Bendis leave it!
xstryker - 6/27/2012, 10:37 AM
Sounds terrible. Of course, if the story is good, all is forgiven.
scrappybuttons - 6/27/2012, 10:39 AM
Please no sidekick. Marvek has f.ucked up spidey enough in the last 10 years. No one asked for this, theres no reason to do it. In an industry where mass cross overs are like summer blockbusters, and you have to read(and pay for)a dozen different titles just to understand one story line, an additional cahacter is the last thing my wallet and interest care for. There was already a spider-woman, for some reason. Please dont force me to care about this too.
Dedpool - 6/27/2012, 10:42 AM
NICE!! I was actually hoping SPdiergirl would be his sidekick/partner of sorts. But this works. It's like SPidey taking a next gen Spidey under his wing.
LOL - 6/27/2012, 10:47 AM
Whenever I hear the name Apha used in anything it ALWAYS brings me back to ONE Alpha in particular:

I think it's kind of obvious even in the description that this won't be a perfect thing. There seems to be some sarcasm in the line saying "Marvel is celebrating Spider-Man’s 50th anniversary in style as the blockbuster creative team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos give Peter Parker his very own….sidekick?"

Maybe it's just me though.
DudeLove721 - 6/27/2012, 10:49 AM
Ugh, I meant permanent thing... not "perfect thing."
BlackFlash - 6/27/2012, 10:51 AM
I think they should use the word partner seen as how Stan Lee doesn't like the whole sidekick thing, hence the reason Stark calls Rhodey his partner same for anyone who teams up with Captain America.
bane187 - 6/27/2012, 11:42 AM
Hate the artwork
SpiderBat209 - 6/27/2012, 11:43 AM
If they had to give Spidey a sidekick, then why not Miles Morales? Sigh. Alpha? Really? If Marvel's gonna cram a sidekick in our faces, it might as well be Miles. Give Alpha a mask that covers his entire face to at least. :P
2460178 - 6/27/2012, 11:44 AM
I dislike that he's being set up as an outright sidekick. I also don't like the name, now that the homage has been pointed out to me. Mind you, I don't read Amazing, so this has no impact on me. Nevertheless, it seems like he would be a better character if he started as having his own ongoing series, and they proceeded to use Parker in a mentor position, like the Parker/Connors relationship.
Zell9 - 6/27/2012, 11:52 AM
I don't know about anyone else but I was hoping Alpha was something else entirely and that the whole sidekick business was something to put Hope(considering what happened at the end of the last New Avengers) into the Spider-Man books to learn from him.
Dunejedi - 6/27/2012, 11:58 AM
I like the concept of Peter creating another powered teen in a parallel fashion to his own origin, thus being responsible for mentoring him. And I guess todays "slacker generation" would identify with him, but I'm not feeling this kid, at all. There's nothing special about him. At least, not in this teaser.

I emphatically agree Spidey does NOT need a sidekick. But if Marvel feels they have to do it, at least keep it in the Spider-Family. I dunno. . Spiderette? Spider-Boy? Would be better than "Alpha". Could they have made a more generic, ambiguous character that could be tied to/affiliated with any other character/team?

Not impressed with Ramos' work.

And on a nitpicky sidenote; in the teaser, when the kid is forward-tackling the chick out of the way. . how does he get hit by the blast in the chest? It suggests that he tackles her out of harms way, stands up then TURNS AROUND and "Hey, I wonder what's going on behind me now that there's absolutely no danger anymoh,no I just got chest-blasted by the very thing I was trying to get away from like one whole second ago! What a world, what a world!" Man, I hate glaring continuity errors.
Sorry.

Nothing like a good lab accident.
Dunejedi - 6/27/2012, 1:11 PM
@ Just1Superg, oops, I mean @ Preacherfanatic7

Buy some Vagisil. Rub some dirt on it. Walk it off.

There's this new site www.dccomics.com/ You should go over there and bitch about their bias. That would be cool.
BIGBMH - 6/27/2012, 1:12 PM
I like his name. It's either a ridiculous coincidence or they've decided to pay tribute to Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in a clever way.
SolidSnake007 - 6/27/2012, 2:46 PM
God, his name is so lame...... Spider-Man is going to have a sidekick and it's not Miles Morales? Why didn't they give him Spider based powers? They could have made his sidekick Anya Corazon... She's pretty cool.
theomegasanction - 6/27/2012, 2:47 PM
i'm sure it has been said, but Spidey doesn't need a sidekick! that's part of what makes him special/different from teams such as xmen and ff
DoomXfactor - 6/27/2012, 3:26 PM
It's time Dan Slott moves on
Eviltwin - 6/27/2012, 6:14 PM
OMFG, when are they gonna get rid of Ramos??? His artwork it horrible. It's bringing the value of ASM down every time he is on the book.
Action - 6/28/2012, 7:47 AM
I guess if there is a Spiderman, there has to a...alpha?
crutchead - 8/1/2012, 10:16 AM
As an old spider-man freakfan since as a wee lad of 6, for nearly 40 years now, I've been anticipating this great event of Spidey's 50th year, but seeing this for the said significant event in the mythos now: it made me fuzz to say is this what all they could come up with to offer? I'm sorry, but just as some people are peeved of JapAnimation art-- Korean looking artwork such as Ramos' drawings certainly makes me puke, and the ill-contrived plot being offered doesn't help. It's pathetic. More like an insult really to long-time fans, i dunno about the new fanbase these days who are up to appreciate anything that comes out in the industry of music movies, or in this particular: the comic books. It seems to confirm on me now more than ever- that any thing "new" that comes around ought to be disregarded, for these stuff that we come to love, they came out of the previous century, and they all belong there IF these are the kind that the industry could ever have to offer these days. And sad it may be, i could only conclude that anything which currently appears in the industry now are all plain rubbish, and all are mere attempt to continue the franchise/mediums about for the sake of commercial marketing intentions, though spurious from any integrity they may be.
