Talking to SuperHero Hype, The Amazing Spider-Man producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach have discussed the possibility of the Sinister Six being used in a future installment in the franchise. It would appear that the success of Marvel's The Avengers has convinced them that it would work, while they also express interest in using the Kingpin too. Check out a few excerpts from the interview below and be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page to read it in full. Which six villains would you like to see make up the roster of The Sinister Six?

Do you feel like you need to stay away from some of the villains that have appeared in the Sam Raimi movies? Or can you redefine them within the context of this new Spider-Man?

Arad: Well, not really. There are so many ways to paint these villains, all of them. As you know, one of the great sagas in the Spider-Man universe is of course the Sinister Six. I think "Avengers" did okay the last time I looked.

Tolmach: It's going to be okay.

Arad: Yeah, it will survive.

So are you suggesting you're going to do five Spider-Man movies introducing each villain and then the sixth movie will have the Sinister Six?

Tolmach: It seems like a good model.

Arad: It all depends on the stories that one wants to tell, because Spider-Man is really more a depth kind of a story, we have to be careful how many villains we can service, because a relationship with a villain has to be such that it's a story on his own. We attempted to do multiple villains--you've been there--you just need screen time to do it.

Does Sony have the rights to Kingpin? That was a great Spider-Man villain until Frank Miller took him for his run on Daredevil and he became known more as a Daredevil villain, appearing in that movie.

Arad: Believe it or not, Kingpin was on loan to Daredevil, so again, anything that is part of the Spider-Man Universe or introduced in the Spider-Man Universe--without getting too legal beagle here--is an opportunity, and if we have a story that Kingpin is important, I'm sure we can handle that.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

Yes!! Please. That's the way me and one of my friends pictured everything happening.
White - 7/2/2012, 2:46 PM
Sinister Six yes, but Kingpin no. He's great villain, but I like him in DD and Punisher stories more...
MrReese - 7/2/2012, 2:47 PM
so they CAN use Kingpin??? =/
superotherside - 7/2/2012, 2:53 PM
Bring on the Sinister Six. Although for villains like Vulture, Electro etc. don't need a whole movie concentraing on them, they're small enough two or three at a time. The problem SM3 had was that it did Venom, if it had of done Sandman, Vulture and New Goblin it would have been fine. Even the MCU usually have two or three villains. Captain America: Red Skull, Zola, Hydra. Thor: Loki, Destroyer, Frost Giants, Laufey.

So yeah more villains can be done it's just you have to choose which works well together.
DrAwesome - 7/2/2012, 2:53 PM
As long as it doesn't turn into Spider-man 3
LucasMend - 7/2/2012, 2:54 PM
2 villains in each next movie is fine, and bring sinister six earlier. Mysterio is a must on a TASM movie ASAP
PaulRom - 7/2/2012, 2:57 PM
Would be cool. Though very hard to pull off.

As for Sony having Kingpin, I find that surprising. Always thought that he would be at Fox with Daredevil. Would be interesting to see him take on Spidey.
DrDoom - 7/2/2012, 3:00 PM
Give it back to Marvel. Maybe they could pull if off.
bayouboyz - 7/2/2012, 3:03 PM
So Sony can LOAN characters to other companies!
nld3 - 7/2/2012, 3:03 PM
If they do Kingpin. Do him right. Make him huge like in the comic book. I would rather see Mysterio.
SpiderManofHouseStark - 7/2/2012, 3:05 PM
i think i might be the only spiderman fan in the world who would like to see morbius at some point ... but yea sinister six would be awesome
TayDee - 7/2/2012, 3:08 PM
Not a good idea yet unless they time jump. In order to effectively introduce the sinister six, they need to be individually introduced.
SCURVYDOG619 - 7/2/2012, 3:09 PM
Sony loans out characters,eh? Interesting. Let the speculation commence!
DanteSparda - 7/2/2012, 3:12 PM
Bloody hell yeah! Bring the Kingpin to Spider-man's universe!!!

Also you you could have other one or two characters as secondary villains, let's say Shocker and Scorpio for example.
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:13 PM
Sinister Six would be awesome. but you would only have to intro them 2 at a time, not in 5 different movies
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:16 PM
@IM53: agreed!
Ranger14 - 7/2/2012, 3:17 PM
They only have a couple films more to pull it off with Garfield. This is why I wish they would have went with a younger Peter Parker. They could have done a 6 film franchise, which would have been great. Garfield will start looking his age in the next 5-6 years so it will be time to move on from him.
marvel72 - 7/2/2012, 3:21 PM
the third film should introduce the sinister six,i would like to see a more comic book looking green goblin in the sequel.
ATrueHero1987 - 7/2/2012, 3:21 PM
Oh, so they can LOAN characters huh? Cool
Yes, start building up to the sinister six. Be cool if it was the original 6. Start with Kraven for TASM2.
ATrueHero1987 - 7/2/2012, 3:23 PM
So it shouldn't be a problem if The Punisher appeared in a sequel??
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:26 PM
I confirm 72's comment
ATrueHero1987 - 7/2/2012, 3:26 PM
Kingpin, Tombstone, Shocker, and Black Cat in one movie would make for a good spidey crime action thriller!
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 7/2/2012, 3:27 PM
I'm pretty optimistic on a possible upcoming Spider-Man film that will introduce the Sinister Six. Believe me, I would most defintiely, positively, absoltuley love to see Sinister Six. Just please, Sony, you gotta know how to build it up right. Get some good stories going on for future Spidey films, know how you're going to bring in and introduce the necessary villians for the SS, have a solid plot for the film and hopefully you won't mess up on it. :)

Stay EPIC, my friends!
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 7/2/2012, 3:30 PM
53 Yeah, Andrew (although a good actor) won't be 'round long enough for a Spidey film that'll have the Sinister Six. So, Sony, you better not fail on something this long-awaited.
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 7/2/2012, 3:32 PM
@72 - There ya go, man. I really want them to try at least give us a Goblin that isn't made out of a green metalic suit. They could go down the Ultimate Goblin road. Seeing as how we are seeing something with cross-genetics going on in this film franchise.
PeterParker1991 - 7/2/2012, 3:33 PM
Sinister Six. Has Arad learned nothing from Spiderman 3? I hope so.
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 7/2/2012, 3:35 PM
@Durf - Yeah, that'll probably the way they'll start doing it (introducing the necessary villians for SS). Just gotta keep the plot in control (don't go crazy over the story) and please, please, Sony, find actors that'll present to all of us fanboys a great/awesome performance as their respective villians. :)
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:36 PM
@Preacher: I agree. Loved MCD as Kingpin
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:37 PM
@63: for sure. I think they could do that. I definitely have more faith in Sony then Fox. If it was Fox, I would say hell no! lol
IcemanX - 7/2/2012, 3:38 PM
Michael Cerveris for Kingpin!!! He played Desmond Tiny (photo) in Cirque du Freak and the Observer in Fringe.

marvel72 - 7/2/2012, 3:40 PM
@ IM53
@ Durf6199
@ TheAmazingSpidey63

not a fan of the ultimate version of the gree goblin, but if they went that route i would try & except it.

my avatar is what the sequel should be

the death of gwen stacy

spidey vs the green goblin

introduce mary jane
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 7/2/2012, 3:40 PM
Now, for Kingpin, I would not mind him making an appearnce (or haing a role) in a Spider-Man film. That'd be pretty cool. But I've always seen Kingpin as a Daredeivl/Punisher type villian, really. He's a crimelord; a kingpin of crime. And when I hear that, I would think of heroes like Daredevil or Punisher to take on such a big (LoL, :P) criminal.
OdinsBeard - 7/2/2012, 3:40 PM
f yeah! let's do king pin right!!! i like the way spectacular did the sinister six, how spidey had the black suit on and just whooped all their asses in a straight up fist fight (well, fists, mechanical arms, electricity, sand, wings, etc..).
SuspenseSmith - 7/2/2012, 3:52 PM
@Peter

Spider-Man 3 sucked not because of the number of villains, but the number of villains introduced. Avengers pulled off 6 heroes because they had time to introduce them. The Dark Knight Trilogy has two villains per movie. if Spider-Man introduced 1 to 2 villains a movie, they could do a Sinister Six by the 4th.

Imagine an Avengers movie in reverse. Instead of 6 heroes vs 1 villain, it'd be 1 hero vs 6 villains.

It's not impossible. They just need to get rid of anyone involved with Spider-Man 3 because it's obvious those idiots can't handle it.
Durf - 7/2/2012, 3:54 PM
@72: for sure. that could be cool for Goblin. Also Death of Gwen is a must. Even if it means killing off Emma... :(

@OdinsBeard: yeah that was boss!
skidz - 7/2/2012, 3:55 PM
If only Marvel would get the rights back for Daredevil...assuming they can actually do that.
Optimus83 - 7/2/2012, 4:07 PM
Amazing Spider-Man 2: Green Goblin/Norman Osborn

Amazing Spider-Man 3: Venom

Venom Spinoff: Carnage

Amazing Spider-Man 4: Venom & Carnage

Amazing Spider-Man 5: possible Siniester Six
95 - 7/2/2012, 4:13 PM
Avi Arad talks a lot. A lot about stuff that never happen. I would like to see the Sinister Six, but I'm not sure about Sony's treatment of this franchise.
BlackDynamite - 7/2/2012, 4:13 PM
Marvel studios would do the sinister six so right on the big screen
mgeoff88 - 7/2/2012, 4:16 PM
That would be great to see Spider-Man take on the Sinister Six on the big screen someday.

I like their model for this, but waiting for five movies seems like a long wait. Maybe do two villains for a couple of the movies to speed it along?

Of course, as long as it's feasible to bring in two villains in one movie and not have the movie suffer as a result.

@IcemanX That actor a is dead ringer for Wilson Fisk. How tall is he though? Kingpin is a huge dude.
SpiderManofHouseStark - 7/2/2012, 4:17 PM
can anyone whos seen the movie tell me is theres an after credit, mid credit scene
or both
thanks
SymbioteJoker - 7/2/2012, 4:19 PM
If they can't use Kingpin there's always Tombstone. In any case mob boss hires special individuals to take out the wall crawler. Picks? Shocker, Rhino, Mysterio, Electro, Scorpion, Kraven
bigfootman95 - 7/2/2012, 4:19 PM
So if Sony can loan chacters... maybe Spidey has a chance in the Avengers. If there in the same universe.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/2/2012, 4:28 PM
If they find a cool way to bring Sinister Six to the big screen i say go for it!:)
Hope they introduce at least two villains in every movie so we could get to Sinister Six faster.

Kingpin i like more as DD villain.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/2/2012, 4:29 PM
Tombstone, Hammerhead and Silvermane would be cool gangster villains for these movies.
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/2/2012, 4:30 PM
Sinister 6 would be good but it could end up SM3 all over again.
HarryOsbournesFathersGlider - 7/2/2012, 5:15 PM
Kraven would have to be a minor villain in his appearance, as much as I like him, people would get bored most likely.

Always wanted to see Mysterio, would fit in well if they changed the origin and linked him to Oscorp so he knows of Hobgoblin (in this case they would use Norman O), in the sequel Norman should have time to develop as a character, have a different villain, and at the end, have Norman turning turning into Green Goblin and in the 3rd film, let him wreck havoc and kill off Gwen Stacey.

Would also love to see JK Simmons recast as JJ Jameson, dont care if its a reboot, he is irreplaceable and the best part of Raimi trilogy
DangerKiD - 7/2/2012, 5:16 PM
Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six! My favorite spidey villains have to be Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Mysterio, The Vulture, and Rhino. Whose waiting in line for Amazing Spider-Man tonight? I'm still undecided whether to go or not.
R888 - 7/2/2012, 5:45 PM
YES [frick]ING AWESOME BRING ON KINGPIN
CoolantTech - 7/2/2012, 5:55 PM
Sounds amazing, I think they should have GG, Mysterio,
Electro or Shocker, Kraven, Sandman, and Morbius or Rhino, and none of the simpathetic villian shit that seems to be so prevelant in Marvel movies, just let the Lizard be the last simpathetic villian they do... Damn could a person be just plain evil nowdays, love Nolans villians for this reason!
