"Oz The Great and Powerful" imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

STARRING:

James Franco as Oscar Diggs/Oz
Mila Kunis as Theodora
Michelle Williams as Glinda the Good Witch
Rachel Weisz as Evanora
Zach Braff as Frank and Finley
Joey King as China Girl
Abigail Spencer as Mrs. Hamilton
Ted Raimi as Skeptic/Tinker
Tony Cox as Knuck
Tim Holmes as The Strong Man

RELEASE DATE: March 8th, 2013.

scruffylookingnerfherder - 7/12/2012, 4:21 PM
This can't be worse than the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland.
2Challa - 7/12/2012, 4:22 PM
meh...ok its a lil too cgi I'm worried about this after watching Alice,
aRandomSinisterClone - 7/12/2012, 4:22 PM
looks like they copy N pasted all the junk from Burton's Alice in wonderland in this. Looks cheesy for such an important franchise.
Altair - 7/12/2012, 4:23 PM
@scruffylookingnerfherder

That's true. Gives me faith already.
Giznad - 7/12/2012, 4:24 PM
@113, then WHY ARE YOU HERE? That trailer was frickin' awesome.
superotherside - 7/12/2012, 4:26 PM
Looks pretty cool. This is mainly just a teaser trailer, not a full fledged trailer and it looks pretty amazing IMO. So yeah this is a very good sign.

Oh and guys. I told you this film would probably be pretty cool! ;P
Bandrews1 - 7/12/2012, 4:27 PM
Wow, this looks pretty good.
Altair - 7/12/2012, 4:30 PM
Good cast. Sam Raimi has done some good stuff. Nothing anybody here would recognize though, right?
musashi - 7/12/2012, 4:32 PM
Throws hat at the camera ... Oh, it must be in 3D!
ULTIMOSPIDER - 7/12/2012, 4:33 PM
Julie Garland is not walking in that Fu.cking door !!! So this is fine. If you like fruity movies.

James Franco is like...."MORE GOD DAMN FILTHY APES !!!"

Mila Kunis pics would be nice though !!!

Nuff Said !!

Nomadic1 - 7/12/2012, 4:33 PM
Franco could get serious Oscar consideration for this. If so, sucks for me, seems most of the best picture winners aren't my type of movie. Although, with Raimi, you never know
TheShape727 - 7/12/2012, 4:34 PM
Looks awesome!
Gnyah123 - 7/12/2012, 4:35 PM

Dynamo - 7/12/2012, 4:36 PM
It reminds me of Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I think the CGI looks shit...
prettynuclear2 - 7/12/2012, 4:37 PM
looks exactly like alice in wonderland.
LandGrizzle - 7/12/2012, 4:39 PM
The Hitman commerical can suck my B@!!$
BANE5000 - 7/12/2012, 4:42 PM
Still wish RDJ wouldve stuck with this film.
Tony13175 - 7/12/2012, 4:43 PM
I don't know about this one. I was personally more interested in this film when RDJ was up to play Oscar, but Franco seems an okay fit too. I agree that it doesn't look enough like Oz and more like Wonderland, it seems to have some 3D gimmicks thrown in (Which I'm not a fan of). But really like how the kept the black and white to color change. I might catch it but I'll have to see more before I decide.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/12/2012, 4:49 PM
The ending saved the trailer. I was hoping to see hint of Green skinned Witch somewhere.
95 - 7/12/2012, 4:49 PM
Okay. I like what I'm seeing. Hope the characters have "heart". Visuals are absolutely splendid.
hope420 - 7/12/2012, 4:50 PM
That looks better then I thought it would.
eastsidesnr - 7/12/2012, 5:00 PM

UncleJimmy - 7/12/2012, 6:52 PM
Raimi is a hack.
mgeoff88 - 7/12/2012, 7:02 PM
That was a great trailer. I wasn't expecting too much from this, but it looks surprisingly good.

@marvel72 Lol, the flying monkeys this time around actually look dangerous.

@BossWalsh I know your stating an opinion, but what does him being Jewish have to do with anything? If you don't get what I'm saying, interchange Jew with other ethnicity's/nationalities, then you'll see.

Think about what you're saying, before you say it. You can call him a dumbass for all I care, just don't bring that kind of stuff into it.
musashi - 7/12/2012, 7:06 PM
Flying monkeys, hey I get that reference!

And that final shot was awesome. I didn't know She Hulk was in this!! Lol
CoolantTech - 7/12/2012, 7:17 PM
Did someone mention Mila Kunis

Gnyah123 - 7/12/2012, 7:28 PM
i heard this is a prequel to wizard of oz....
any1 know if thats true??
any1 care to help...
ralfinader - 7/12/2012, 7:42 PM
@Gnyah123 - It is a prequel to the original.

And it looks good. And the green hand at the end reminded me of the granny hand from the cellar-dweller in Evil Dead 2. I do love some classic Raimi moments.
JorLBola - 7/12/2012, 8:27 PM
I love Mila Kunis I still believe that she would be a great Lois Lane
OdinsMissingEye - 7/12/2012, 8:37 PM
Strange that they did'nt make Wicked first cause it would make more sense starting the series with Elphaba's story rather than the Wizards, Unless the new thing in Hollywood is to make the last movie first.
Ancar - 7/12/2012, 8:40 PM
Looks wonderfully great!
SamHell - 7/12/2012, 8:52 PM
Ceejay - 7/12/2012, 9:56 PM
I can't believe people question his decision to do this over Warcraft, a computer game fad over a historical piece of literature and cinema classic?

Well done Sam, show the world what art production and style is all about! One BIG sure-fire hit!
espnfx - 7/12/2012, 10:06 PM
Looks great! On a side note, I'll be glad when the Hitman game comes out. I'm getting sick of seeing the same ad over and over again for it.
BAIKINMAN - 7/12/2012, 10:18 PM
+1
jshark - 7/12/2012, 10:23 PM
I'll see it, but I'm worried it may be too much like Alice in Wonderland.
jimoakley666 - 7/12/2012, 11:45 PM
Looks alright in places. But prefer the look of the b&w bits before Oz, if I'm honest. Which could prove problematic.
MrSuperheromoviefan - 7/13/2012, 12:32 AM
looks pretty good
love the end with the green hand
silverdog - 7/13/2012, 4:32 AM
