SDCC '12: IRON MAN 3 Most Talked About Movie On Social Networks

Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 was the most talked about movie on social networks during this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con. However, you may be surprised to learn which of the films shown off at the event received the largest amount of positive buzz.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Iron Man 3 and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey were the most talked about movies on social networks during this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con. Oz: The Great and Powerful was next, with Man of Steel and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 not too far behind. This information was compiled by Fizziology, a social media research firm who looked at trends on sites such as Facebook and Twitter. However, while people were talking about these, you may be surprised at which films got the most positive reactions. Oz: The Great and Powerful came out on top, while The Expendables 2, Wreck-It Ralph, Django Unchained and Man of Steel weren't too far behind. The reason that films like Elysium and Pacific Rim don't get much of a mention is due to the fact that no new or existing footage was released online for fans to discuss. Oddly enough, Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles (which had absolutely no presence at the event) was the only film to receive more than 4% negative comments during the weekend with a whopping 28%. This talk was more than likely brought on by the reveal of the Nickelodeon series.

MARVEL is winning. Plain and simple. :-). The saga continues.
musashi - 7/16/2012, 4:35 PM
Really? I would have thought that it would be MOS. Iron Man is a sequel and The Hobbit a prequel but MOS is a whole new world!

Still waiting for some Iron Man 3 footage. Hallo? Anyone? Bueller? Never mind :-)

Who cares about Facebook and Twitter? Last I hear that Ironman Armor was talked about because of how crappy it looks.

When Man Of Steel trailer hit this weekend along side of TDKR it will be a very talked about trailer negative or postive.

"what the hell who the [frick] cares about this FAIL facebook and twitter sucks"

A billion people on Facebook, and half that on Twitter...I think a lot of people kind of care. And since you and I BOTH commented on this topic, WE care as well :D
marvel72 - 7/16/2012, 5:19 PM
just came out of the hall of shame, alot of people have been banned.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 5:20 PM
This is where the buttsore will focus upon.

The same people who say it doesn't matter would be the first people to talk shit if it had supported their favorite movie.

But face it, a report said the Iron Man 3 footage was the baddest at Comic-Con. Deal with it.
rocky - 7/16/2012, 5:27 PM
I would've thought MOS also to be the most talked about except that once you think on it it is the 6th time around for Supes. I think like Spidey the fact that it is a reboot may hurt it at the onset.

gastitdk - 7/16/2012, 5:28 PM
I thought Iron Man 2 was boring, and I have hopes for Iron Man 3 with this cast, but...the armor sucks.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 5:28 PM
@marvel72

I actually agree with casting out each and everyone of the turds the mods banned.

Blueberryicedcoffee was a major Nolan troll on the IMDB Avenger message boards, Ilovesuperman was a belligerent asshole who insulted anyone he didn't agree with, and Ilovedcandmarvel was a total tool who pretended to be impartial.

I want to applaud them for looking at the official record and separating the idiots from the passionate fans who try to contribute to this board.
jessepostal - 7/16/2012, 5:33 PM
didn't the "winning" phrase die out yet, i've always hated that.
Darkhawk8 - 7/16/2012, 5:35 PM
I tried really hard to record the footage. I got about 10 seconds of it then security started looking my way. I didn't want to get kicked out so I turned off my phone. I saw about 3 people around me being led out of hall h for recording.
SageMode - 7/16/2012, 5:35 PM
Wow. I'm number 11 on the hall of shame. Lmao. SMH.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 5:36 PM
Winning never dies.

Darkhawk8 - 7/16/2012, 5:36 PM
Both MOS and IM 3 look [frick]ing fantastic. Can't wait til next year.
ckal - 7/16/2012, 5:38 PM
How is that surprising...AT ALL?

Do you even realize how popular Iron Man is?
Darkhaven - 7/16/2012, 5:39 PM
@wantedkid: I'm just messing with ya dude, gawd! Can't even play around these days >.<

What are you looking forward to? Personally, I better see some Pacific Rim and Ant Man stuff soon.
Intothepoop - 7/16/2012, 5:39 PM
i haven't watched, read anything from the iron man 3 panel yet. Mostly cause i figured it'd be the same old stuff marvel does. MoS was on my radar though.
marvel72 - 7/16/2012, 5:48 PM
@ RamonSuarez

yeah mate i agree, death threats is just not on.

its alright having a different opinion to one & other but some are just f*ckin annoying.
AnditsOn1 - 7/16/2012, 5:49 PM
For the record, it's called "most talked about", but it doesn't say whether it's positive or negative "talked about" and people usually tend to talk more when they are complaining.....which is why everytime I saw this kind of report I was like "really?"
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 5:53 PM
Yeah, Killercroc was a total bitch. I am glad his response to my calling him out for being a POS is what finally got him canned.

Killercroc, if you read this I want you to know I take great pleasure in helping to see your sorry ass voted off the island. Bye!
ElChavo - 7/16/2012, 5:56 PM
People who say facebook sucks are just losers that don't have any friends, just sayin'
AnditsOn1 - 7/16/2012, 5:56 PM
Wait a minute, there is no dark knight rises? People don't talk about this movie? Ok, I just assume they are just waiting then.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 5:58 PM
Let's face it, Man of Steel is another Batman Begins. I've said it before, I'll say it again. You can see Nolan's fingerprints all over it.

Marvel on the other hand is upping the ante with its Phase II properties. They're giving us an Extremis, Winter Soldier, GOTG, and Antman preview - all of which hasn't been seen before. Nice!

DC-Warner gives us another origin story, on the second rebooted Superman movie in the past 6 years, with the same damn villain, in a Batman Begins type preview. Ugh.
ckal - 7/16/2012, 6:02 PM
Ramon-

If Man of Steel's villain was Lex Luthor.....just wow. I can't stand Lex Luthor, he's a horrible movie villain for Superman.

Even still, I think everyone would love to see an actual new villain, but the way you put it...MOS sounds kind of depressing.
Minotauro - 7/16/2012, 6:05 PM
Ironman 3 looks great.

@Ramon - "Let's face it, Man of Steel is another Batman Begins. I've said it before, I'll say it again. You can see Nolan's fingerprints all over it."

Keep bringing up DC properties into a Marvel article. Can't seem to make that up.

"DC-Warner gives us another origin story, on the second rebooted Superman movie in the past 6 years, with the same damn villain, in a Batman Begins type preview. Ugh."

Yes, and TASM wasn't somehow? Superman is getting a reboot that everyone wants. You can try aleast to be more objective when it comes to your own personal viewpoints.

I didn't call you marvelite, but something tells me you might comeback with something childish. Who knows, I might be surprised.
dmm5 - 7/16/2012, 6:06 PM
Superman, new? Umm.... Isn't he the #1 super hero of all time? Everyone who's any one knows who Superman is! He's the one that really started CBMs, Superman The Movie was the very first big CBM. And we already had a Superman movie less than a decade ago.... Sorry but don't use that excuse. Marvel won plain and simple ;) MCU is getter bigger and bigger, a force not to be reckoned with! DC/WB just wait it out ok? Your time will come ") Maybe you can start dominating..... After Phase III is complete lol
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:07 PM
I meant Zod. How many times are DC-Warner going to shove Zod and Luthor down our throats?

I am not adverse to either two, but damnit if they expect us to get up seeing the same villains rehashed over and over again.
BIGBMH - 7/16/2012, 6:07 PM
Since when did Comic Con become a competition?

I'm hopeful that Iron Man 3 will be good, but Iron Man 2 was a major letdown for me so I'm a little skeptical. Right now, Man of Steel is my most anticipated movie of next year. I was very unsure about it before, but everything I've heard about it from this weekend sounds like they're on the right track.
Minotauro - 7/16/2012, 6:10 PM
@BigBMH - you're not the only one who thought IM2 was a big letdown. Thor and cap were as well just to rush for Avengers. Hopefully the sequels will do it right.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:11 PM
1.) Actually Minotauro, it wasn't me who brought up MOS in this thread. If you actually took the time to read the posts instead of fixating on mine you'd have noticed that it was mentioned several times by fans wondering why it wasn't the most talked about cbm in the social networks.

2.) TASM also suffered from the same problem. They rebooted the franchise way too soon, but at least they gave us a different villain we never saw before so...
Scooby - 7/16/2012, 6:12 PM
@Ramon Don't watch MOS when it comes out. It's not for you. It's for people that want to see Superman back at the top - which is where he belongs.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:15 PM
@MarvelWeiner

@
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:16 PM
@Scooby

Poor Scooby, Superman hasn't been on top in CBMs since 1981.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:16 PM
@SotoJuiceMan

Damn, you're right.

That's even more depressing than a reboot.
Scooby - 7/16/2012, 6:17 PM
This is an SDCC article, isn't it? And here is a quote from the article which Josh paraphrased:

"Behind "Oz" and the follow-up to 2009's aging action stars hit "Expendables" were "Wreck-It Ralph," Disney's upcoming animated movie set in the world of video games, the Quentin Tarantino slavery drama "Django Unchained," and "Man of Steel." Those films received the highest percentage of positive comments online."
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:20 PM
Oh, well good for MOS.

There you go champ!

If you believe in yourself anything can happen.
Scooby - 7/16/2012, 6:22 PM
@RamonSuarez you're right. Superman hasn't been on top since 1981. And we haven't got a real Superman movie - ever. This looks like it is going to represent Superman the way he is really supposed to be. And looks like it wants to put Superman back on top. As a Superman fan, I am excited about it. And I don't really care what others think about that. But it does hurt sometimes to have some obnoxious prick talk nonsense about something he doesn't really care about cause it gives him a semi.
BIGBMH - 7/16/2012, 6:26 PM
@Minotauro, Cap and Thor weren't amazing, but I was a lot more satisfied with them. I do agree that in some ways they felt like they were more concerned with the big picture than taking their time, but our standards have really been raised after 2008. Prior to that, I think we all would have been pretty impressed by both of those. Just knowing the direction they're going in for Captain America makes me hopeful that phase 2 will be more about making each of these franchises very strong.
RamonSuarez - 7/16/2012, 6:28 PM
@Scooby

If you want to believe that Superman is going to rule all the CBMs then go ahead. But don't get mad when I remind you what the reality really is - which is that MOS seems like a Batman Begins twist on a familiar origin story.
