The release of The Dark Knight Rises has prompted moviegoers to flock out and buy both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, sending both to the top of the charts. PLUS: We also have a video featuring Christian Bale visiting the memorial set up for the victims of the Aurora shooting.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight topped Blu-ray sales charts for the week ending July 22nd. The two earlier Batman films from Christopher Nolan took the #1 and #2 spots respectively, holding off competition from new release Three Stooges, despite both having been available to buy for a number of years. This is good news for the film after the slightly disappointing $160.9 million made during the opening weekend of The Dark Knight Rises (it's still a record breaking result, but the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado, is believed to have knocked at least $20 million off its predicted total). Thanks to The Telegraph, we also have the following video of Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman) visiting those affected by the actions of gunman James Holmes during a midnight screening of the threequel last week.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight." The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

I have so much respect for bale he's such a great man, he bought flowers and placed it on the memorial. Great man. The Dark knight trilogy is the greatest CBM trilogy of all time. All of the movies were good and all of them are very distinctive, BB was more light hearted than the rest, TDK was the scariest and grittiest, TDKR was the most tragic and hopeful. But its not clear which one is the best becasue all of them are different and you can choose which one is the best.

I wonder if this had anything to do with the fact that Begins was on sale for $5 and TDK for $10 last week on Amazon. Add to that the $5 movie cash attached to each and I think it might have.

Love the fact he went and visited, and asked the hospital not to notify the media. No PR stunt, just class.
Respect.

I know I'm in the minority for saying this but having just watched TDKR, I have to admit that I think it's at the bottom of my list as far as Nolan films go. I was really excited to finally get to see it and severely disappointed once I did.

I know I'll catch Hell for saying so but the film simply seemed like it was in a big hurry to get you somewhere and then never delivered. I can only relate it to waiting for your favorite bands new album, only to find that the album sounds like somebody else entirely once you listen to it.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are truly great films IMO. This one didn't live up to the hype for me.

160 is an amazing opening. Those who say otherwise have no clue.

That being said, I've seen this twice now and I'm sorry to say the quality diminished in the second viewing. It is across the board an inferior effort to TDK which I consider to be one of the greatest CBM's ever made. Most of the Batman stories it Frankenstein'd to make this entry were all half-assed. Hathaway is truly disposable, and the dispatching of the main villain is so piss-poor I got angry the second time around (first time I was just confused, "that's it?").

I wouldn't call it a bad film, just a creative failure when held against its predecessors.
