The Dark Knight Rises had a fairly limited international release last weekend, but now that is is open in a total of 57 markets (nearly 17,000 screens), the threequel has earned an estimated $122.1 million according to Deadline. That takes its current international total to an impressive $248.2 million, and after it grossed $64 million in North America this weekend - where it now has a domestic total of $289 million - that gives it a worldwide cume of $537.2 million. Despite a slower than expected start due to the tragic Aurora, Colorado, shooting, this is a good indication that The Dark Knight Rises will finish its theatrical run with $1 billion (The Dark Knight hit that figure only after being re-released).

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.
