It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.

VicSage - 7/31/2012, 6:03 AM
Is it just me or did they misspell the movie? I read:

THE DARK NIGHT RETURNS

Instead of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS

they're missing a k....

BenderDickCumPatch - 7/31/2012, 6:03 AM
Now make a movie on that DC...
Greengo - 7/31/2012, 6:04 AM
If they're doing the whole novel it needs at least two parts.

This looks badass like the book. Hope to see the Supes vs. Bats showdown at the end.
clogan - 7/31/2012, 6:05 AM
@Maia87

TDKR was heavily influenced by The Dark Knight Returns.
scarecrow007 - 7/31/2012, 6:05 AM
Not sure if this is too soon. Seeing as TDKR had a very similar plot.
marvel72 - 7/31/2012, 6:07 AM
@ VicSage

yes they did misspell it once in the trailer.
FlashhGordon27 - 7/31/2012, 6:10 AM
Will this be Region 1 only do you reckon?
ZombieOverEasy - 7/31/2012, 6:11 AM
My wallet is ready! [frick] yes...if we don't ever get it as a live-action film, we'll at least get this.

Now here's hoping they do a 2 or 3-part Animated Kingdom Come.

Marvel needs to get with it, where's my World War Hulk animated movie?
JamesClement - 7/31/2012, 6:12 AM
This looks really great, music really makes it.
billnye69 - 7/31/2012, 6:17 AM
Batman, more like fatman.
Dedpool - 7/31/2012, 6:17 AM
YES!! I knew this would be good! Glad they're doing it in 2 parts so we get the whole thing without them watering it down or omitting much.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 7/31/2012, 6:19 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight Returns. Aside from the way Miller mishandles Superman, one of the best graphic novels of all time. 2 parts is a good thing. To be done right you need to have the extra time.
AnimatedTdot - 7/31/2012, 6:22 AM
batman is the best character ever created with many great interpretations.
dahamma - 7/31/2012, 6:24 AM
This looks like its going to be awesome
spager45 - 7/31/2012, 6:27 AM
When is this released?
TheAskaniSon - 7/31/2012, 6:28 AM

AlSimmons - 7/31/2012, 6:30 AM

thalidomide - 7/31/2012, 6:32 AM

Now this is a Batman film worth seeing.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/31/2012, 6:34 AM

Batman27 - 7/31/2012, 6:35 AM
Batman is the greatest. I can't wait.
Kovacs - 7/31/2012, 6:37 AM
Cool beans, 2 parts is a good thing
thalidomide - 7/31/2012, 6:37 AM
@Nomis

I confirm your statement. It's kinda sad that most people here in this site don't even read comic books.
Bane2099 - 7/31/2012, 6:39 AM
At 1:16...Was that The Joker :]
StrangerX - 7/31/2012, 6:48 AM
It looks ok i guess.
Sparrowsabre7 - 7/31/2012, 6:49 AM
Shame they couldn't get Ironside to do it like the TAS short, but Weller sounds pretty close, he'll do a good job I think.
GreenHalJordan - 7/31/2012, 6:50 AM
You just crippled that man!
"Hes young, he'll walk again."
badass I can't wait!
thalidomide - 7/31/2012, 6:51 AM
@Nomis

Good for you. It's good to see that there are still some people here who actually knows their comic books whether it's DC or Marvel. Thumbs up for us :p
BIGBMH - 7/31/2012, 6:51 AM
Looks pretty cool. I didn't like it that much the first time I read it because people hype it up so much. It's so revered and fanboys rave about it like it's the greatest thing ever. It's definitely solid, but I was expecting something incredible. Maybe if I give it another chance I'll enjoy it more.
prototype87 - 7/31/2012, 6:54 AM

thalidomide - 7/31/2012, 6:55 AM
^^^^ Badass cover! ^^^^
Asterisk - 7/31/2012, 6:56 AM
...I...have a confession.

I dislike The Dark Knight Returns. I love the story, and the way Miller draws Batman, but I think the art is atrocious and I don't like Miller's always grim and gritty writing style, but I think that stems from a dislike of the man himself. I think...he's sort of a scumbag.

Having said that, I DO like Batman: Year One (Haven't seen the animated feature) and I am interested in watching this.
BANEofExistence - 7/31/2012, 6:57 AM
Just while watching this trailer I kept picturing The Dark knight Rises

SPOILERS

Batan arrives at the "mutants Terf" nd gets his ass kicked by the Leader- Batman goes to the sewer systems and gets his as kicked by Ban

Robin saves Batman from The Leader- Catwoman saves Batman from Bane

The Leader standig on a hill giving a speech to the mutants- Bane standing on the Tumbler giving a speech to the city

10 years retirement- 8 years retirment

Both will be awesomeeither way :p
UltimateSpiderman - 7/31/2012, 6:59 AM
This is for retards who can't read.
imnotwearinghockeypants - 7/31/2012, 7:00 AM
Mutant Leader's voice should be more animalistic, inhuman. Still, looks pretty good.
DetBullock - 7/31/2012, 7:03 AM
It's so awesome I think I'm going to cry.
UltimateSpiderman - 7/31/2012, 7:06 AM
Batman fakes his death in the end and the mutants become his army blah blah blah we've seen it all before.

I wonder will they include the part where a red haired man shoots up a movie theater (this actually happens in the book.)
Bane2099 - 7/31/2012, 7:11 AM
@Nomis
@Monkeyballs
