Despite a fairly sizeable drop during its third weekend internationally, The Dark Knight Rises is now the second highest grossing film of 2012 behind only Marvel's The Avengers. Hit the jump for the latest figures and details.
The ever reliable @giteshpandya has confirmed via their Twitter account that despite a fairly sizeable 47% drop internationally (perhaps as a result of the release of Seth MacFarlane's Ted), The Dark Knight Rises took $67 million this weekend. That takes it to a total of $378.4 million overseas, and combined with the current domestic total of $354.6 million, that gives Christopher Nolan's epic finale to his Batman trilogy a worldwide cume of $733 million. In North America, The Dark Knight Rises has spent the weekend battling it out with Total Recall, although it still came out on top with an estimated $36.4 million. This officially makes the film the second biggest hit of 2012 behind only The Avengers.
