COMICS: The Justice League Take On 'Baz' In GREEN LANTERN #14

Teasing their November solicitations, DC Comics have revealed Doug Mahnke's cover and details for Green Lantern #14, an issue which will see the Justice League taking on Earth's new Green Lantern 'Baz' as they attempt to find out where Hal Jordan has disappeared to.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the name of Earth's new Green Lantern is 'Baz', although that's pretty much all we know about the character at this point. It is thought that he will be VERY different to Hal Jordan however, especially as a "Trinity War" teaser in DC's "Free Comic Book Day" issue showed him battling the Justice League. Well, it now appears as if we can expect to see him taking on the team even earlier than expected in a "Rise of the Third Army" chapter in this November's Green Lantern #14 reveals The Source.

We’re going to be meeting a brand new Green Lantern in issue #0, and unlike his predecessors, he’s not the sort of guy you’d be expecting to wear the ring. That’s putting it mildly," series editor Matt Idelson teases. "After the events of Green Lantern Annual #1, Hal Jordan is MIA in a very big way, and our new Green Lantern finds himself in a new role, though his troubled life isn’t going to go away in the slightest. In fact it’s the things he’s notorious for that in large part bring the Justice League into the picture—they want to know what’s happened to Hal, and what this guy thinks he’s doing filling the role of Green Lantern. It’s going to be intense, but also very, very cool."

Good thing Batman's in position to donkeypunch poor Nacho Libre, otherwise Superman And Wonder Woman and Aquaman and Cyborg would get their asses kicked.

They heard him reciting the oath in Arabic and overreacted.

Those bastards are racial profiling!

Really have loved the Third Army take over from the GL titles. It's just building up, can't wait till they actually reveal the Third Army!

Hope they kill'im already. And Doug Mahnke's Bat suit is [fricking] badass, the guy's drawing is just off the chart good, in my opinion of corse.

I still have a soft spot for when joe Kelly and Doug mahnke were on JLA a while back. His art is amazing now. I wish he'd take over for Jim Lee.
CrashTest - 8/9/2012, 4:47 PM
dose it really take the entier team to take out one GL?
HarrisonBergeron - 8/9/2012, 4:55 PM
Baz looked like a white guy in Green Lantern #11.
Sortis - 8/9/2012, 5:14 PM
So everyone is beating on the minority? lol normally I would be against such a thing, but in his case i'll make an exception, worst comic book character EVER!
voxen - 8/9/2012, 5:40 PM
Why does this guy look like a Mexican Luchador?
figuresmaniac - 8/9/2012, 5:59 PM

CeltiC527 - 8/9/2012, 6:32 PM

It always amazes me how the Justice League can't just seem to talk out their problems with other superheroes. They always just fight them.

Even has a big DC and comic book fan, sometimes comics are truly silly.
TheSoulEater - 8/9/2012, 7:45 PM
I really want to make a joke..
HarrisonBergeron - 8/9/2012, 7:51 PM
@Splenda- No, from what we know so far, Baz gets his ring from Sinestro or Hal. In Corps we saw that the Guardians are holding new rings back so that there will not be any new Lanterns.

Again, the end of GL #11 made it look a hell of a lot like Baz was an incarcerated white guy with blonde hair.
aquaman52 - 8/9/2012, 8:28 PM
The Green Lantern new 52 is a series I've been buying each month so far, and I'm excited to see what this could be about! Love me some Justice League.
mikesinuman - 8/9/2012, 9:13 PM
hahaha I'm 33rd!
Phileo26 - 8/9/2012, 9:18 PM
I thought that Green lanterns were suppoesed to be honorable and be heros for their planet??? Why would DC create a green lantern that would fight the JL??
Optimus83 - 8/9/2012, 9:23 PM
Barrabaz/Green Lanter for Green Lantern 2 & Justice League Movie. ...
CaptainObvious - 8/9/2012, 9:40 PM
The Justice League are so racist.
Deadpool101 - 8/9/2012, 10:04 PM
kinda wish this guy would draw batman more
JayJayCAW - 8/9/2012, 10:23 PM
you see DC, even your own characters dont like the new GL's costume, CHANGE IT NOW!!! lol
coolguy - 8/9/2012, 10:46 PM
I don't remember him in 11 Bergeron refresh my memory
SunSp0t - 8/9/2012, 11:12 PM
Love that costume!
Caedus137 - 8/10/2012, 12:29 AM
Why are they beating up Kick-Ass...?
kevberg - 8/10/2012, 1:53 AM
dumb-fahkin green lantern. hope they kill him off.
drewXdeficit - 8/10/2012, 2:30 AM
Have you guys ever thought to consider that maybe the cover is symbolic of the events inside? Perhaps the JL doesn't actually fight Baz, but they do oppose his methods so strongly that the events play out like they're holding him back?

It's just a thought. Don't be so quick to judge something that won't be out for a few months.
HRDWYR - 8/10/2012, 7:12 AM
looks like a luchador...just say'n
coolguy - 8/10/2012, 7:32 AM
I've really enjoyed the title so far, though lately its felt like a lot of filler and build-up. I just realized the other day that Kyle rayner has been around for about 20 years now. I guess it is time for a new lantern
Minghagz - 8/10/2012, 7:46 AM
I'm almost compelled to drop GL now. We'll see...
pepe - 8/10/2012, 7:54 AM
JLA vs litle-green-Bane-looking-MF... Justice league of AMERICA: they dont like arabs. Why does everybody have too fight a new character/hero?
MarsivNayr - 8/10/2012, 8:43 AM
Haha anyone notice how much Cyborg is NOT in this cover?
Dude looks like the "token black guy".
ScionStorm - 8/10/2012, 6:07 PM
Why is everyone beating on racer X? lol
HarrisonBergeron - 8/11/2012, 2:33 PM
@MarsivNayr- Flash is not on the cover at all. It is kind of interesting though, Flash and Hal work together, and are both MIA in the pic.

@coolguy- I was convinced that the guy in the jail cell when Sinestro sees the future was Baz, but on second viewing I guess it could maybe be Guy Gardner.
HellScorpion - 8/15/2012, 12:39 PM
Batman better shout "Surprise!!"....other wise that GL can crack out the whistle and call for help...
Wingding - 8/23/2012, 12:27 PM
Hey. Epiphine, what if Black Hand kills either Sinestro or Hal, and HE BECOMES BAZ???! I mean, he is clearly a bad dude, he likes rolled up sleeves, his mask is the same shape as Baz's, and it said he had a troubled life. FOR REAL! Mind blown.
