AVATAR Finally Coming To Blu-Ray 3D

Regardless of your thoughts on Avatar, there's no denying that the 3D effects were perhaps the best ever. Well, if you now want to relive that experience, you'll no longer have to pay a ridiculous price for a copy on eBay as James Cameron has announced that it is finally coming to Blu-ray 3D.

Avatar is already available on Blu-ray, but only in 2D. Not exactly the same is it? While a 3D version was released with certain Panasonic TV's, your only chance of now nabbing a copy is to pay upwards of $100 on eBay. Thankfully, a retail version is set to be released worldwide very soon. There's currently no word on whether there will be any additional special features and the release date and price are also still under wraps, but it seems likely that it will hit sometime around Christmas. The announcement came from the official Avatar Facebook page (via IGN Movies) and you can watch it below.

The sooner 3D dies again the better! All it does is make films look like digital pop-up-books.
CoolantTech - 8/14/2012, 3:27 AM
Yeah!!!!...

hellfire - 8/14/2012, 4:30 AM
I was always under the impression that any move was better when stoned off your ass... except for the ghost rider films
MrShumway - 8/14/2012, 4:38 AM
Avatar is actually a very good movie. It certainly cannot be called a ´´shit movie``, not in a world where movies like Green Lantern exist anyway. (:
ricko8687 - 8/14/2012, 4:45 AM
I won't buy this 3D blu-ray. I really wanted this movie this movie a couple of years ago when I got my first generation 3d Tv, but became discouraged because of the panasonic, monopoly that you had to buy panasonic to own it. So I will pass on this one. 2 years to late.
Kalel219 - 8/14/2012, 4:50 AM
@ImSuperman

I'm australian and i'm telling you to shut the [frick] up with your anti-USA bullshit.
jessepostal - 8/14/2012, 5:06 AM
my 3d copy came with my tv(panasonic exclusive) i've watched it once and not all the way thru. It looks great but it's not a movie i can rewatch multiple times. I should have sold it for a nice buck.
Ichaos - 8/14/2012, 5:06 AM
@ImSuperman sounds like an indiotic aluminum foil hat wearing nut case. Clearly ImSuperman does not believe in Truth Justice and the American Way
Anthrax - 8/14/2012, 5:26 AM

australiancomicbookmoviefan - 8/14/2012, 5:31 AM
I find it amazing to know that the movie that started the revolution is the only film not on wide 3D release.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/14/2012, 5:37 AM

IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/14/2012, 5:39 AM
@IamSuperman you need a reality check bro, Look at the mass genocide committed by other nations before you start bitching about soldiers in the shit.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/14/2012, 5:40 AM

Anthrax - 8/14/2012, 5:46 AM

Azazel1 - 8/14/2012, 6:01 AM
Best special/3D effects ever.
tkiv18 - 8/14/2012, 6:34 AM
@IamSuperman, seriously, you pick a thread about Avatar being released on Blu-ray 3D to voice your anti-American sentiments?! I'm sure there are a thousand better forums where you could take up this argument. Look tool, I'm American, but I'm neither brainwashed nor religious, and while I agree that the war in Iraq has/had more to do with oil than it ever did with terrorism, your comments are way off base. Listen, first you need to take an ESOL course (that's English as a Second Language) and learn how to spell/speak. Second, form a cohesive argument before you decide to spew your nonsensical bull$h!t.
jessepostal - 8/14/2012, 6:47 AM
you do relise that america is one of the least religious places in the world?? ban that fn asshole
Squish - 8/14/2012, 6:48 AM
IamSuperman is a waste of life. America is the greatest place in the world.
grampageezer - 8/14/2012, 6:48 AM
I'm sure he'll release the originial theatrical cut first just like he did with the 2D versions, followed by the extended cut, and then the extended Director's cut in 3D.
Although I want this, I guess I'll wait until sometime next year to get the extended version.
grampageezer - 8/14/2012, 6:51 AM
And I can't believe the morons bringing politics into an article on a comic book/superhero site.
Geez, people, there's a time and place for everything.
Squish - 8/14/2012, 7:04 AM
You're the man Intruder
lunesta - 8/14/2012, 7:20 AM

Harris1 - 8/14/2012, 7:50 AM
About [frick]ing time! Been waiting forever for this. Even bought the playstation 3d tv for this, only to find out it wasn't available. This movie is easily, one of the most remarkable achievements in the last hundred years. Truly a leap forward in movie making, and what can be experience at the theater. Deserved every penny at the box office.
CPBuff22 - 8/14/2012, 8:00 AM
Lets see if this affects TV sales. With TV sales dipping recently its a good time to start releasing quality 3D content that isn't kids cartoons.
thunderforce - 8/14/2012, 8:23 AM
I am sure people from every country think their country is the greatest place in the world and I am sure they could all give reasons too . Like I think Canada here is the greatest place in the world for many reasons but I don't have to bash any one else because I think that .
DiLusso - 8/14/2012, 8:31 AM

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/14/2012, 8:35 AM
I thought it already was.
fettastic - 8/14/2012, 8:35 AM
I've had the 3DBD for years. It's just the theatrical cut and no features. Fox has said that when they release it on shelves it will be the extended cut in 3D. I don't know if they will stick with that though. They may well just release the current 3DBD, then release the exdtended cut in 3D shortly before Avatar 2 hits theaters.
hellfire - 8/14/2012, 8:53 AM

Brainwashed?? In god we trust was put on currency in the fifties, when people believed in religion. Today you can cut that number in half. Some country's go to war over religion. What the hell is wrong with you
