COMICS: Marvel Teases "The End" Of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN

Is Hope Summers (who was always meant to receive the power of the Phoenix) about to go "Dark" in October's Avengers Vs. X-Men #12, or has Jean Grey returned? Well, it certainly looks like it's one or the other if this teaser image by Adam Kubert is anything to go by! Hit the jump to check it out.

Why is Jason Aaron writing the last issue? It should've been Hickman or Brubaker. Might be Emma. Could also be Hope. After all, Hope & Scarlet Witch get in a fight in AvX VS #6.

Don't have a problem with Aaron, I like his writing. I just would've preferred someone else for the final issue.

this has been really stale story arc. i cant wait till its over. Same Phoenix story every few years. Marvel is getting a bit too repetitive for me. The everything is Sinister arc blew me away though.

Who didn't see this coming? Honestly?

Why are comic writers so afraid to be non-formulaic? Making Hope less significant was a great bend in the "chosen one" narrative but nobody believed that Marvel wouldn't finally get to the payoff. Can't a "chosen one" just fail, die or otherwise be insignificant to major events?

I just don't understand how Marvel established that Jean is Phoenix and the Phoenix is Jean. Throughout every arc since the Phoenix Endsong there have been references to the Phoenix being reassembled by Jean (Ex: X-men Kingbreaker #4) but in the end don't feature Jean at all. The AvX story is good though and I think necessary for Marvel to shake up their universe like DC did.

And if the first class travels to the present and stay here don't that mess with the space time continuum crap. I mean doc Brown said it more than Once.

For something that was touted as the culmination of 8 years of build-up, this series is a real let-down. They changed artists, writers, artists again. For a storyline that was just a re-hash of old stories, it dragged on for too long. Civil War FELT like it was impacting the MU as you were reading it. With the penultimate issue of AvX, I'm still waiting for something consequential to happen. In the 80's, this arc would've spanned three issues, tops. And it would've been much better. Hey, Marvel: If you're going to jerk me off for a year, at least have the courtesy to cup my balls.

It's HOPE. It all leads to her. With all the training from Cable and all the stories of Jean destroying everything, can she actually handle the Phoenix Force? I bet right away she goes Dark but comes out of it and is able to handle it.

The real thing that comes to mind is saving the earth? Wasn't that the point of the Phoenix Five when they got their powers? Isn't that was they started to do before Avengers got in the way? Isn't that the point of Super Heroes?

I just feel like they got closer to "saving the world" in a meaningful way more than maybe has ever happened. I just feel like alot people forget this.

I agree with an above post. The Sinister arc in uncanny X Men is by far better than the actual AvX story.

Just read AvX #10 yesterday. Shit's getting intense! Been waiting for Jean to come back forever.

And people who don't bother to actually read comics, yet still feel the need to bash them, should just not bother. No one cares if you think this story is stupid.
