I swear man, these studios only use deleted scenes to try and sell more dvd's. Cutting scenes makes most films suffer. I wish we could get directors cuts for these movies.

All this, because it would be "comparable" to Sam Raimi's interpatation of:Spider-Man? Wow, looks like Sony and the team, lacked faith.

I'm sure that 11 deleted scenes affected the movie but I'm not so sure that it will solve all of the problems

The untold story is an ongoing theme on the new trilogy. I'm baffled that people really think that the movie changed the origin that was planned, when Connors clearly states to Peter that no other subject had survived the cross-species process before he gives him the decaying formula that his father hidden.

The hints that there is something different about Peter are already there, if you watch the movie closely. The deleted scenes were probably just more hints to that.

My theory is that Richard Parker NEVER used his son or himself with ANY experiences whatsoever. But he did used his own DNA to test if the decaying formula worked, and it did, hence the fact that the spider was attracted to bite Peter once he entered the Oscorp chamber. I don't think that Oscorp, Rathar or Connors knew about that, neither Richard Parker planned that Peter would ever get in contact with the spider. It was still an accident, but there is a logical reason why Peter didn't die or became a giant Man-Spider once he was bitten.

"The Untold Story" is still a going subplot, and I think it was intended to be this way since the beginning, with deleted/alternate takes or not. I also think that the reason that Richard and Mary run away was related with the venom formula, that he was also working on. Something went wrong and Richard and Mary were killed while they were in the run.

The release date has been known for a few weeks now, but it's good to have an official announcement.

I think Grif just showed a diplomatic maturity by including the suck factor of both sides. Dude, all I can say about this movie is HOW IN THE CRAP can a football bend a field goal post? And dood, in the VERY next shot afterwards, was inside a room where I saw a textbook entitled PHYSICS in all caps. I don't care what any of you say "Omg, he didn't say 'With great power...'". That football shit alone ruins everything.

Ohhhh snap. PLEASE give us the unseen chunk of the movie we didn't see! I loved the film, but I would've loved it a lot more if they didn't stupidly cut all of that out...

@BmanHall

I've been reading Spider-Man for 28 years, and I know him as much as I know myself. I don't like a lot of Spider-Man stories like Clone Saga and One More Day, I think it's a shame that Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon had to die so Ultimate Spider-Man could exist - it's not that it's bad, it's just too much kids friendly for my tastes - and I always had big problems with Sam Raimi's take on the character.

The Amazing Spider-Man is in my opinion the best origin story this character has ever had in any form of media, comics included. I know my comics, I know my movies and I know what's a great story, with great dialogue that doesn't rely on exposition to tell itself. In my opinion, you're not only a B-Fan trying too hard. But you don't have a single clue what makes a good film or a good Spider-Man story. But to each his own.

I think Peter Parker survived the bite because his dad probably designed the decaying formula to work only with his(the dad's) DNA. This way, his human DNA will not give into the other Species like Conners, the rat and any other person not related to Richard. Since Peter is the son of Richard, he hoped that Peter would eventually be able protect the formula and if possible, improve on it. But, Peter got bitten by the spider by accident. This gave him his powers.
(It's still an accident, even more so than the Raimi bite which was uncalled for and didn't make any sense. WHY would a spider create a drag line and land on Peter's hand without any explanation? Then it bites him and leaves???) In The Amazing Spider-man, Peter disrupted the web making process in the spider room and lots of spiders fell on him. He shrugged them of and missed one, which eventually bit him. More of an accident than the Raimi's bite.

@Toshitheshadow

That's how I see it as well. Except that I don't think Richard thought that far ahead, I don't think he expected Peter to improve it, I think that he was just trying to keep the formula out of the wrong hands. There's something rotten about Oscorp, and Richard realized that. I think it's related to Max Dillon (probably a bodyguard of a hidden big bad that isn't Osborn), and it will lead to either Kingpin - Arad revealed that Kingpin was just rented to Fox, but he belongs to the Spider-Man Uniiverse - or Tombstone, like in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

All movies have deleted scenes, and did long before VHS, DVD or Blu-ray.

I agree, the movie did feel a little uneven, but my guess is they probably did the best job possible for the theatrical cut. We'll find out when the disc comes out.

Heck, I absolutely **loved** Spider-Man 2.1, but I see why those scenes were taken out.

I'll be really interested in the Avengers deleted scenes too.

@BMann - What story did it butcher? It took aspects from the ultimate Spidey universe, didn't copy USM #1 by any means at all. Aside from the cheesy plot to turn everyone into a Lizard, it was pretty good and you know sequels will get better. I believe you are just one of the folks who can't be pleased, + if you think THAT's bad go watch First Class, you may have a heart attack there

Keep wondering if the movie would've beeen better with those scenes left in, I thought the movie was good though, better than Raimi's camp fest anyway, its more technical

Saw this again yesterday, and it was still amazing. Pun intended. People hating on it are just being naggy. I enjoyed it way more than TDKR.

I'm with Bman on this one and I have been following Spidey for 40 years. So there! :-P Okay, I didn't think it was terrible, but it was borderline below average for me.
