Talking to The Wrap, Zachary Quinto has discussed the upcoming sequel to to J.J. Abrams' 2009 smash hit. While he doesn't go into detail about the plot (that shouldn't really be too much of a surprise considering just how much secrecy the film has been shrouded in up until this point) the actor does comment on how he feels to have worked on the follow-up and the pressures of living up to the high standards set by the first instalment. Star Trek 2 is set to be released on May 17th, 2013, although we still haven't seen a trailer or official still just yet.

"It was bigger. It was bolder, I think, than the first one, and that was pretty big and bold from my stand point. I’m really excited to see what they do with it. I feel like, you know, my work is done on the movie right now and until we have to go and promote it, then my work remains done and I let J.J. and his incredible team of people get in there and do the work that they need to do now. I feel very fulfilled, but I don’t feel particularly attached to what the outcome of that project will be because I have faith in the people that I was collaborating with to make it as good as it can be. I’m just happy to be working on something else and be creatively fulfilled in other ways and be producing movies and be thinking about how I can, you know, get behind the camera in different ways and tell my own stories."

He seems somewhat unenthused by the film. Regardless I loved the first one and I'm excited to see what they've done with this one.

Star Trek 2009 was a great modern sci fi movie.

zachman2013 - 9/6/2012, 4:55 AM
Give us a teaser already, the star trek teaser came a year before the movie came out. Just somthing to make people know its happening.
CrowPirate1 - 9/6/2012, 5:08 AM
Why is he so unexcited? He's working more than I am. :P
MiracleMe - 9/6/2012, 5:14 AM
Abrams is being uber-secretive about this movie and it's getting a little bit goddamned annoying.
Ceejay - 9/6/2012, 5:23 AM
Star Trek 2009 was a dumb action comedy.

The Villains hung around for 20 years doing nothing but waiting for Spock to hopefully turn up so they can have revenge!

Idiots could have gone to their home planet and warned them 100 years in advance to prepare for what's to come as well as give them advanced tech from the future against their enemies of the Federation and Klingong Empire.

Star Trek for knuckle-draggers!

I enjoyed the first Star Trek, looking forward to this sequel. Quinto sounds like he is in Spock mode for this interview!
Sagart - 9/6/2012, 5:53 AM
Ceejay, the villains didn't 'hang around' for 20 years doing nothing. They were imprisoned by the Klingons, after coming through the wormhole. Scenes of this were in the deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-Ray. There was also a mention of the battle with the Klingons in the film itself. Granted, it could have been expressed more clearly in the movie but that's what happened.

seems all the marketing for this movie has been sent to the klingon home world first to get there reactionsand reviews.
good move make the humans wait as we dont have warp drive yet, no matter what its a trek movie so it should be good even if its bad :)

@Ceejay "The Villains hung around for 20 years doing nothing but waiting for Spock to hopefully turn up so they can have revenge!"

No, the villain was in jail during 20 years. Just watch the DVD deleted scenes and read the comic book prequel to the movie.

I'm more excited than Quinto for ST2!

mother of gaaaaaawwwwddd., where's teaser-trailer?
OhGawDuhhh - 9/6/2012, 9:08 AM
@CeeJay, Nero and his crew weren't hanging around for 20 years, they were enslaved on a Klingon prison planet for 20 years.

You would have enjoyed the film better if you paid attention to the dialogue, no?
bhorwith22 - 9/6/2012, 9:18 AM
The other one sucked. I hope it is better than the other one. Star Trek V makes me cringe.
JJ's 2009 film was good though.
DarthTesla - 9/6/2012, 9:45 AM

sKeemAn - 9/6/2012, 10:02 AM

I hated Star Trek before the 2009 version.... yeah i said it.
UrbanKnight - 9/6/2012, 6:46 PM
Excited for this.
Knightstalker - 9/7/2012, 8:02 AM
Star Trek doesn't exist anymore. I don't know what this Abrams-verse charade is, but it sure isn't Trek.
