How best to describe these two covers by Stuart Immonen for All-New X-Men #3 and #4? Well, "Holy Shit!" certainly seems appropriate! Hit the jump to check out what looks set to be an explosive return for Cyclops in the pages of the new Marvel NOW! series this November.

Fans of Cyclops (myself included) will be VERY pleased to learn that he seemingly survives the final chapter of Avengers Vs. X-Men! However, is a villainous turn on the cards for the man who recently slaughtered Charles Xavier while under the influence of the Phoenix Force? Why else is he fighting his younger self on the covers of issues #3 and #4 of All-New X-Men? Well, it looks like we'll have to wait until November to find out, but this promises to be a very interesting development for the character in the Avengers-centric Marvel NOW! relaunch. Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the images below.

Temple - 9/18/2012, 1:19 PM
Kid Cyclops is gunna go ape shit on himself when he finds out he killed Xavier?
mctrinket - 9/18/2012, 1:20 PM
Douche vs. Douche in the ultimate Douche-off. There can be only one!
comiccow6 - 9/18/2012, 1:20 PM
But everything will be reversed when kid Cyclops avoids that path.
StarkAnthony - 9/18/2012, 1:22 PM
The shifting timeline has me wondering how much younger Kid Cyclops will be than the old one.
damntree - 9/18/2012, 1:23 PM
So considering Cyclops is immune to his own power how does this cover work?
Temple - 9/18/2012, 1:23 PM
@comiccow6 most def. I also think the dude in the red cyclops wear, is kid cyclops.
pud333 - 9/18/2012, 1:24 PM
It's like they're gonna kiss.
Show4God1 - 9/18/2012, 1:32 PM
I dont want scott to die, he was always a fav. however, i wouldnt mind seeing him kinda start crossing the line a bit more, and eventually find his way back!
nerdman81 - 9/18/2012, 1:32 PM
Either way, "Old Cyclops" is screwed! Either he dies, or he never exists. Seems like a shitty catch-22 to me! Unless of course he is just stopped, captured, and subdued, but where's the fun in that?
ACira - 9/18/2012, 1:35 PM
He has to become a villain, it'd be the greatest downfall in all of comic books, it's almost a Shakespearean tragedy (not really, but in terms of comics)
ATrueHero1987 - 9/18/2012, 1:37 PM
I figured he would live through AvX, I'm glad it's confirmed. Too bad Marvel is making him the asshole of the Marvel Universe(for now anyway). I loved the development of Cyclops since Astonishing X-Men & House Of M.
damntree - 9/18/2012, 1:37 PM
@Stig - How would they fry each other considering cyclops body is immune to the beam? And even then the beam doesn't give off heat so frying is out of the question altogether.
ATrueHero1987 - 9/18/2012, 1:42 PM
Anyway, I wonder when Marvel will have this & other Marvel NOW titles available for subscription??
damntree - 9/18/2012, 1:48 PM
@Stig - Ah I see what you mean. I suppose it comes down to fisticuffs then. I would say older Scott has the advantage of experience and Slim has youth. These super heroes are in such good shape though I doubt the youth factor would be much of an advantage.
IronTwigg - 9/18/2012, 1:49 PM
Could Cyclops become his own paradox?
TheSoulEater - 9/18/2012, 1:53 PM
I wanna see him go up against Havoc
iJackSparrow - 9/18/2012, 1:53 PM
Can't wait.
HelaGood - 9/18/2012, 2:02 PM
i hope hes a villain... hes such a douche anyway...
AlcoholicA - 9/18/2012, 2:08 PM
Mother. Of . God.

That is awesome
jimpinto24 - 9/18/2012, 2:11 PM
I would say Scott Summers becomes a villian. I like Scott as a good superhero, but it would make things intresting.
AlcoholicA - 9/18/2012, 2:11 PM
@damntree

Younger scott doesn't really have the "advantage" of youth I don't think. Yes he's younger, but because of the way "Marvel Time" has worked, it's only been about 10-12 years. So we're talking about an 18 year old fighting his 30 year old self. And not just 12 years of couch sitting, but working out and increasing skill. I'm 28 and could crush my 18 year old self cause I never stopped lifting and cardio.

Young Scott's gonna have to pull another card to win hand-to-hand.
souhunter - 9/18/2012, 2:14 PM
There can only be one!!!
PsyBoy - 9/18/2012, 2:16 PM
Kill the current scott and replace him with the All-New one!
SageMode - 9/18/2012, 2:16 PM
Hope they both die
AlcoholicA - 9/18/2012, 2:17 PM
They're clearly not bringing young scott in just to die or lose, but for those of you who think Older scott killing younger scott means killing himself. It's been well established that anytime time-travel occurs, unless you do it in a specific way that Dr. Doom does, it only creates an alternate time line. Cyke wouldn't literally be killing his past self, but an alternate version on himself.
Asterisk - 9/18/2012, 2:21 PM
Josh said a bad word :o
Weeton - 9/18/2012, 2:30 PM
I guess Marvel Now's X-Men does not exist in the TimeCop universe.

HelaGood - 9/18/2012, 2:40 PM
loving the art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RogueSkywalker - 9/18/2012, 2:43 PM

marvel72 - 9/18/2012, 3:11 PM

Moakynubs - 9/18/2012, 3:23 PM
Maybe it's training? I'm sure there's some trick Cyclops wishes he knew when he was young and inexperienced.
exodus147 - 9/18/2012, 4:03 PM
I can't figure out how Jean Greay is possesed by Phoenix goes crazy and is killed and she is beloved. But Cyclops is possesed by the Phoenix and he is a hated villain even after he is cleansed. If you always hated Cyke I get it but I can't believe the hate the Phoenix 5 have gotten. IT WASN'T THEM IT WAS PHOENIX.
storyteller - 9/18/2012, 4:08 PM
And it's not like Captain America kept poking him with a stick and telling him it was for his own good.
AlcoholicA - 9/18/2012, 4:08 PM
@exodus

tip of the iceberg man...
ShadesAtKnightII - 9/18/2012, 4:13 PM
Cyclops will win.
ATrueHero1987 - 9/18/2012, 4:25 PM
@exodus147 It's one of the questions I keep asking...
KingLing - 9/18/2012, 4:43 PM
I really hope Scott does become a villain. At first, I didn't like the idea, but heck, it would be the most incredible turn-around in comics. Considering his team is already comprised of villains, it just makes sense. I really hope they do it. They skimped out with Daredevil, but this has been an on-going, natural evolution.

Make him the bad guy.
xstryker - 9/18/2012, 4:51 PM
Guess Bendis wasn't done shitting all over Scott. I would rather hit my nuts with a hammer than buy this shit. F*** Bendis up his stupid ass, that franchise killing motherf****er.
AnotherSinisterClone - 9/18/2012, 5:12 PM
horrible story, i cant wait for something new. which is asking alot with marvel. how many times has professor X died now?? how many times has the Phoenix returned? and 1 cyclops was bad enough, 2 isnt going to help.
CapsUnknownSidekick - 9/18/2012, 6:35 PM
Villainy is often a matter of perspective, especially in the X-Books... as a human being/non-mutant, I already think he is a villain after the things he and the Phoenix Five have done. I also don't know what else to call a guy that would kill his adopted Dad...
MutantEquality - 9/18/2012, 7:30 PM
Awesome. Wow. I like the thought of training my younger self. Im 29 and far outmatch my 18 year old self in terms of training. If I could seed my younger self with intel of the future I would have a huge advantage.
I'm interested how everyone one else is going to react to him though. Just because everyone around you thinks you're a villain it doesn't make it so. We have seen that time and time again in comics.
I believe in you Cyclops.
hope420 - 9/18/2012, 8:13 PM
Kick his ass seabass!!!!! I wonder if young Scott will go back with the knowledge of what he becomes and it changes everything when he goes back like Age of Apocolypse or will it create and alternate universe or is the young Scott from an alternate universe or will they erase his mind? Argh head hurts to much thinking!
