"wah, wah, wah . . . I don't like his art . . ."
"*sniff* MAN, this guy sucks!"
"whine, whine . . . why does he draw faces like that? Why doesn't he draw good?"
Boo-freakin'-Hoo!

The guy is an awesome veteran artist.
Accept it.

krazyforkomix@ no thanks. it's my money and if someone put their work out there to be purchased then everyone is free to judge it however they want.

@OdinsBeard

Of course you're free to judge. That's a really good point. Free will is some times lost on people. Good job.
I'm just confused by the the overwhelming out pouring of over the top criticism (not by you this time) that rains down on him anytime his art is shown.
MANY of the great artists before him, Kirby, Ditko, Colan, Infantino, Kane, Chaykin (the list goes on) all sacrificed "perfect" anatomy for story telling and power. All had very idiosyncratic styles. Romita Jr. fits in to that group.
Please, don't for a second think I'm saying he's as good as Kirby. No one is. He was just an example of quality story telling WITHOUT perfect face structure.
You ask just about ANY comic "authority" or website (that features comic books), to list their top 50 artist of all time, and nine times out of ten JRJR will be in the top 25 (and certainly the top 50)

There MUST be an awful lot of uniformed grade schoolers out with a lot of disposable cash artificially pumping up his books, because Marvel seems to think he's a best seller.

JRJR IS SO GOOD! He can actually tell a story without the use of words.

Some of JRJR's work has lacked in recent years, but I really think it was due to the fact that he was overworked. He admits that when he doesn't have enough time to do quality work he will rush work to make the deadline. It's easy for some people to criticize somebody else's work, but you have to take into consideration the amount of work that JRJR puts out. He is constantly working on multiple titles at the same time. This goes for most of the veterans that have been getting flak in recent years on their artwork as well.

Romita Jr. art isn't what I would consider bad at all..his art isn't quite as good as his past work but it's still enjoyable.

You want terrible art just look at at none other than Rob "how the f--k did he ever get hired to draw" Liefeld.
