To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Superman (not to mention the fact that Warner Bros. have a brand new film featuring the character hitting theatres next June), it has today been revealed at the New York Comic Con that 2013 will see the launch of Man of Steel; a new ongoing series from the creative team of Scott Snyder and Jim Lee. Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the following image and quotes. Be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page to read more and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Scott Snyder On How The Title Fits Into Continuity And What We Should Expect From The First Arc:

This will play along with the other Superman books in the sense that it's in continuity, but we really wanted to carve out our own territory. This really is sort of the biggest, most epic Superman story we could do together while having our feet planted firmly in continuity and making sure that everyone had enough room. For us, this is an independent book and something that will challenge Superman in a big way that's unique to our book. At the same time, I'm friends with Scott and with Andy too, so we're really excited to play alongside each other and share ideas. I think one of the interesting things about him is that Clark is always Clark. But for Superman, the thing that makes him such a strong character is that the values he grew up with and the person he was raised to be are still at the core of what makes him the most powerful superhero on earth. This isn't going to be a story where it's Clark versus Superman or seeing the two of them split. It's more about challenges for Superman that rock him to the core emotionally, psychologically and also physically. It really is going to wind up putting him up against someone who can go blow-to-blow with him and really take him down.

Jim Lee On Why He Decided To Team-Up With Scott Snyder On Man Of Steel:

I would say with my Co-Publisher hat on looking into 2013, it's Superman's 75th anniversary. So we wanted to do a lot of great things with Superman in the coming year and expand the number of books we put out under his name. From an artist's point of view, I always want to work with the writers I admire. I've been following Scott's work on "American Vampire" where I actually did the variant for the first issue, and I followed him straight through to "Batman" where I loved the way he introduced new mythology and made it seem so seamless and like it'd been there forever. I wanted a chance to work with Scott and do it on a character like Superman where we could see what he could come up with to show us what this character is about even as we've known him for 75 years. Scott and I had a breakfast at San Diego Comic-Con, and he walked me through this story, and I was sold from that moment on.

Woo hoo, 3 and a half issues of sweet Jim Lee art before Pete Woods takes over. Yes!
Knightrider - 10/11/2012, 4:08 PM
Was wondering is costume would be film or current New52 outfit.

Scott Snyder will hopefully win me over, love Supes, but Action Comics has been slipping in quality and the Superman title isn't great.

However I wonder who the face is in top right
CaptainObvious - 10/11/2012, 4:16 PM
Now I finally have a reason to read Superman.
DrRockit13 - 10/11/2012, 4:24 PM

ATrueHero1987 - 10/11/2012, 4:27 PM
@CaptainObvious same here. NEVER been a fan of Superman but I HAVE to give this title a chance.
blite32 - 10/11/2012, 4:27 PM
After reading that article were we found out that the supposed "superior" spider-man was not Peter Parker, my faith in comicbooks have now been restored. DC is doing great things with the new 52.
Spideyguy94 - 10/11/2012, 4:28 PM
Superman might finally be good again after being piss poor since the new 52 began @marvel72 he certainly is him rick reminder and Jonathan Hickman can do no wrong and jim lee is my favourite artist in the industry what's not to love?
jimpinto24 - 10/11/2012, 4:30 PM
Amazing artwork from Jim Lee, and Scott Synder will do a good job writing the MOS comics. This is on my list of DC titles to pick up.
Wildaniel - 10/11/2012, 4:31 PM
Scott Snyder is all over DC. He writes Batman, Swamp Thing, Talon, now a Superman title. I hope all the work he does, doesnt effect his skills, lol.
jjk2814 - 10/11/2012, 4:31 PM
I wish the two of these guys would take over the Superman title...its been so...sooo bad.
Jollem - 10/11/2012, 4:31 PM
jim lee is a dominate force. his best stuff so far has been with d.c.

i would've liked to seen what he would've done at marvel. not with the marvel now stuff, tho

Superman is breaking chains again i swear he does dat like every freaking year,im joking sweet art.
Bandido - 10/11/2012, 5:05 PM
@Wildaniel: He is not really writing Talon? Thought that was all TYNION no?? I know he helps at plotting but I think he'll stop after issue 6 or so...maybe I'm wrong haha

But seriously...this team is awesome, Snyder's Batmam was the first comicbookmovie I ever bought and now I'm reading swamp thing as well. I also keep hearing GREAT stuff about American Vampire and now that he is gonna have a superman story under his bealt...this is awesome news, as everyone is saying...FINALLY a reason to read superman

xfactor - 10/11/2012, 5:11 PM
Honestly, after the debacle george perez and dan jurgens created with the superman title this year, this is a breath of air. and honestly,i love scott snyder, his run on batman was the shilz-nit.
Bandido - 10/11/2012, 5:11 PM
Belt*
JULEZ13 - 10/11/2012, 5:14 PM
This artwork is pretty disappointing. I expected something different and new.

Anyway, can't wait to see what Scott Snyder will do with Superman. I have heard nothing but good things about his writing and hope he does a great job with this just as he did with Batman!
Hellsboy - 10/11/2012, 5:14 PM
i like the artwork but hey snyder brought a lot to the table in the bat department so this could work
marvel72 - 10/11/2012, 5:18 PM
@ Spideyguy94

yeah probably the best two writers in comics today,i haven't read much of hickman but i think i'm gonna have to.

jeff lemire(animal man) is also a favorite of mine.
rbfn04 - 10/11/2012, 5:19 PM
DCnU costume looks a lot better withou all the lines and armour look....
Logan5 - 10/11/2012, 5:20 PM
Glad Lee's still going strong. I'm not a fan of the neck on the new 52 suit either, but it has sort of grown on me. It reminds me of the classic and best version of Mon-El's red and blue suit's neck.
Vapes - 10/11/2012, 5:21 PM
Is it me, or does his head look too small for his body?
xfactor - 10/11/2012, 5:22 PM
@ julez13 i dont know how you can feel that way, jim lee always delivers in my book. Hell i bought the variant issue of JL # 12 that cover was absolutely gorgeous
Darkknight23 - 10/11/2012, 5:28 PM
(Pushing my chips to the center of the table) I'm all in!
DCjohnny - 10/11/2012, 5:28 PM

xfactor - 10/11/2012, 5:30 PM

superotherside - 10/11/2012, 5:31 PM

Minghagz - 10/11/2012, 5:31 PM
Finally a Superman title that I can pick up with out actually feeling disappointed.

I just dropped GL so this is good because I can now pick up on this when it starts.
Tevii - 10/11/2012, 5:37 PM
I love Scott Snyder, but i only know him with dark stuff. This will really show his range or prove to be a mistake.'

GUNGRAVE1 - 10/11/2012, 5:42 PM
