Thats a lot of web.
imnotwearinghockeypants - 10/18/2012, 7:11 AM
Dilution is the name of the game at Marvel these days.
siggisuperman - 10/18/2012, 7:44 AM
I really gotta say, this looks effin cool. He is badass. I hope he turns out to be super evil.
Spidey31 - 10/18/2012, 7:55 AM
What happened to Peter Parker and is he gone for good?
ATrueHero1987 - 10/18/2012, 7:56 AM
Depending what happens issue #700 & what the first 6 issues of Superior Spider-Man are like will determine if I will renew my subscription...
xcrementus - 10/18/2012, 7:58 AM
technically, that's a spoiler in the teaser info. It kinda implies he dies, some people might not wanna know that. You should probably change it. The article before this one didn't have that.
StarkAnthony - 10/18/2012, 7:58 AM
what the hell is wrong with the new Spidey's back? I figured out who the new Spider-Man is - it's Quasimodo
StarkAnthony - 10/18/2012, 8:00 AM
Also, to claim this Spider-Man is better in every way is just a slap in Peter's face
tomasocelot - 10/18/2012, 8:03 AM
i think parker either dies or gets trapped in some limbo or other dimension. I think this spider man is a mutant, notice the claws and the weird feet.
Wingding - 10/18/2012, 8:09 AM
That first pic is TERRRRIBLE
ACira - 10/18/2012, 8:09 AM
@tomasocelot he's wearing tabi boots, they're not weird feet. They're a type of footwear that have a separate space for the big toe - they're used a lot by free runners and other people who practice activities like parkour and types of urban exploration and climbing.
ACira - 10/18/2012, 8:09 AM
But yeah, that art is atrocious.
HellsHammer - 10/18/2012, 8:25 AM
He has TMNT feet!
leethario - 10/18/2012, 8:27 AM
WOW i had no idea so many Eisner award winning artists came on this site and hid behind their keyboard warrior persona's. If you can draw better why aren't you working for DC or Marvel??
j2cool2 - 10/18/2012, 8:28 AM
Not a huge fan of Ramos, but looks interesting. I'm certainly not going to knock it before I read the book, that's absurd and I'm not sure where so many of you find the basis for doing so. Part of the problem with Marvel is the characters don't really grow, which the fans complain about, but when they try to attempt to allow growth the fans throw a fit. This is one of the reasons I never had a problem Ultimate Marvel. So you're going to develop new iterations of mainstream Marvel characters and kill them off as the problems of the world grow increasingly complex? I'm all for it, as far as comic book worlds with people with super powers, it doesn't get more realistic than that. F*@k em'. I like reading about characters that grow, move on, and sometimes don't actually win even if it's fatal, rather than the same s#!t every year.

On a side note I really feel like if Peter's not Spidey, then it MUST be Kaine. Or perhaps the return of Ben Reilly, but given that Kaine's looking normal, is finally sane, and much more brutal than Pete I'm thinking it's him. I mean who else would MJ fall for but a buffer identical twin to Peter Parker. His memory up until the clone wars are the same as Pete's so he remembers loving her.
KNIGHT3000 - 10/18/2012, 8:31 AM
The more I read on this, the more I hate it. Why are they constantly trying to "bait up" Peter Parker? Nobody is a better Spider-Man than Peter Parker, I don't care how much fans they got. I really hope Pete kicks the f#ckin sh!t out of this poser, and anyone else who dares to diss Pete's legacy/legend/being Spider-Man
darkmetal - 10/18/2012, 8:48 AM
Ramos is a great artist uses a Fusion Style which is very exaggerated but still Spider-Man's proportions are just too far off to fall within the limits of even that style.
The second cover I suppose is by Stegman sports a Spider-Man with a very peculiar build and his waist looks to be around 70 inches. His thighs and legs look a bit heavy too.
Marvel's standards simply no longer exist. And I've noticed that even great artists work at Marvel (Ramos, Dodson, Romita Jr.)has been slipping.
TheBloodCrow - 10/18/2012, 8:52 AM
I like the 2nd pic more than the 1st.
OtakuPapi - 10/18/2012, 8:55 AM
I'm really curious about what's going to happen to Peter Parker. In a way i want to think Ben Reily Is Coming Back Or Miguel O Hara or Maybe Peter is mutated or something! Then again this may be Peter with a new attitude after seeing how he did Lizard and failed to protect Silver Sable he might see this as a turn for the best! It was a good idea in the Ultimate universe but im not sure about Pete not being suited in the mainstream universe. Spider Man Battle For The Web...Who knows im intrigued #CyclopsWasRight
Name - 10/18/2012, 9:01 AM
Us speculating is a win for them. I think enough people will buy the first issue, the rest is up to them.
KNIGHT3000 - 10/18/2012, 9:04 AM
I been guessing Miguel O Hara as well
j2cool2 - 10/18/2012, 9:10 AM
@OtakuPapi, @KNIGHT3000

Never thought of Miguel, but with the claws it makes sense.
DaneE5R - 10/18/2012, 9:26 AM
The art is "terrible?" "Atrocious?" I can understand if you don't like the style, but to say it's outright bad is ridiculous. I bet 90% of you folks couldn't draw as well as that cover.

However, I gotta say the the "this Spidey is better in every way" bit definitely came off as disrespectful. Pissed me off.
Kendospawn - 10/18/2012, 9:36 AM
It's Toxin fools...I would bet money on it.
jimpinto24 - 10/18/2012, 9:43 AM
I like the art, but I do not like the direction Dan Slott is taking the Spider-Man comics. This is the only title I won't pick up during Marvel NOW!
Bark4Soul - 10/18/2012, 9:46 AM
Art is cool, this whole idea is stupid, it's def not Kaine like half of you are saying, that book is doing well on it's own, they wouldn't cancel it to make this book. Marvel NOW is going to fail pretty hard.
GLprime2814 - 10/18/2012, 10:09 AM
Well since marvel bringing the original xmen team from the past this only makes me guess that this could be Miguel Ohara from 2099. Maybe something happens like in that CRAP Spider-Man game edge of time where the 2 switch places to stop whoever from doing whatever, could explain the talons and whatnot.
Just hate that he's superior Spider-Man and poor Parker is not amazing anymore.
GLprime2814 - 10/18/2012, 10:13 AM
Or he's just a guy who's powers aren't spider derivative but close enough to help Pete out, think of how many creatures can stick to walls, and webs come from shooters.
jasonicus - 10/18/2012, 10:18 AM
He has claws. Also, does this mean Parker is dead?
UVLantern - 10/18/2012, 10:49 AM
Will not be picking up this title.
peele1 - 10/18/2012, 11:14 AM
It's Alpha in the suit
hueyfreeman - 10/18/2012, 11:17 AM
the more I see the claws and webbed feet, the more I hate them. Stegman isn't too bad. but ramos... ugh.
JamesAsAlways - 10/18/2012, 11:43 AM
The Artwork is far from terrible, the first one seems a little out of proportion but that is because it is styled as such, The second piece is brilliant, it really puts across the idea of a darker Spider-man which is what this series is about. People who are saying the artwork is terrible clearly don't have a clue, It may not be to your tastes but that doesn't mean its bad.
Spidey31 - 10/18/2012, 11:59 AM
As long as they keep up another series with Peter Parker in it as Spidey and this guy doesn't exist at all in that universe I'm open to it
CaptainObvious - 10/18/2012, 12:16 PM
I don't care how much Marvel tries to shove this new douche dressed as Spider-Man. His character and his stories will never be as iconic and memorable as Peter Parker's. That is not an opinion. That is a fact.

Also, wasn't One More Day created to keep Peter Parker fresh and exciting for the next 20 to 30 years? Now 5 years later, they replace him with some twat.

One More Day is now as pointless as ever.
ThaMessenger07 - 10/18/2012, 12:45 PM
I love Scarlet Spider, so is this Kaine?
marvel72 - 10/18/2012, 1:34 PM
if they kill peter parker in amazing spider-man 700,nothing to worry about sales will drop after superior spider-man 1 & they'll probably bring peter back within a year or so.
rbfn04 - 10/18/2012, 1:37 PM
"I bet 90% of you folks couldn't draw as well as that cover." see folks? Never criticize and artist or athelete. Y'all can't do what they can't. [frick]ing asinine statement.

Love how Marvel is saying "hey, member the good ol Spidey? he sucked! This one is better!" hate when they go that direction marketing wise
TheScienceofNarrative - 10/18/2012, 2:20 PM
That last image misunderstands Spider-Man even worse than "those are the best kind of promises".
Thythoutrust - 10/18/2012, 2:36 PM
Aright, well, I'm sad. I already miss Peter.

For all of you saying ''You can't draw as well so don't complain''

Seriously?
The Charlotte Bobcats are a terrible team. Surely I can't be better at basketball than any of those guys, but in the end, the Charlotte Bobcats are still a terrible team. Ramos is not a terrible artist, I've loved the art in rescent ASM issues, but this, especialy with the google kind of thing going on there, looks weird.
DioFoRio - 10/18/2012, 2:39 PM
Guess if you go to a restaurant and the food tastes like shit you fargin douche-bags...you just eat it and don't complain cause you aren't a Chef?....lol..twats
rbfn04 - 10/18/2012, 3:28 PM
Douche Spidey. Douche Superman. But we are wrong cause we can't accept changes
CaptainObvious - 10/18/2012, 4:08 PM
Ramos' art looks like it was drawn by an epileptic Liefeld.
Franshu - 10/18/2012, 5:46 PM
Long nails? Super-scratching? Sounds like Kaine to me. ANd he's defintely NOT superior to Peter.
SecretAvenger001 - 10/18/2012, 5:48 PM
The art work looks good, but when in the heck did Spider-Man have f'n claws! I am openly opposed to this new Spider-Man not being Peter Parker, but if your going to piss me off for 30 years of dedication at least give the guy a new costume. He will always be nothing more than a knock off, but heck Ben Reilly got treated better than this, and he was a clone!
rbfn04 - 10/18/2012, 8:42 PM
Spidey is a Thundercat!
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 10/18/2012, 9:56 PM
Stupid. Peter Parker is better.
manofsteel1942 - 10/19/2012, 4:35 AM
If this turns out to be as stupid as what they did with Ultimate Spiderman then they can suck a squirrel ping ping.
niknik - 10/19/2012, 6:46 AM
OMG! That first one is about as bad a piece of crap artwork as I have EVER seen. Makes JRJR and Liefield look like Rembrandt and Da Vinci.
CrashTest - 10/19/2012, 7:46 AM
Marvel is really not sick of Peter Parker, I really dont get out of all people why kill him off.
