There aren't too many big movies left to hit the big screen this year, but two of the most anticipated will be released in the UK before North America. We already know that Skyfall is set to be released a full two weeks ahead of the US, but now the official Facebook page of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has revealed, "The adventure begins a day early! We are very excited to announce that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will now be released on December 13th!" So, it's only 24 hours sooner, but that makes all the difference for those already counting down the days until its release! Sound off with your thoughts below.

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Whats with this crap? The studios are built on tech made from the US and its the US that made film an industry.
THE US SHOULD ALWAYS COME 1ST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christuffer - 10/19/2012, 3:44 PM
@darkmetal - U jelly?

Well, I'm not phased by this. So what? This only means that we can get the reviews early, since some of our best contributors here are from the UK.

SwingsetKnight - 10/19/2012, 6:06 PM
*Wonders if can make a case that Canada should get the movie a day early too, on account of still having pictures of the Queen in schools for some bizarre reason*

Boekelaar - 10/19/2012, 7:37 PM
I'm just hoping this means we'll get it earlier in Australia,, last I checked we'll be getting it on boxing day (just like LOTRs).
Oh and I wouldn't call Killing Them Softly a big movie just fyi, it came out last week for us Aussies (seeing as it's from an Australian writer/director) and I'll just tell you right now that if you're expecting some big cool action film than you're out of luck. It's more of a thinking movie with lots of talking with a few good action pieces. Great performances by all the cast but it's a movie about the financial crisis not about gangsters.
Carne - 10/19/2012, 7:41 PM
Watching the midnight premiere on the 11th (night to 12th) here in Norway :D
theomegasanction - 10/19/2012, 7:44 PM
What??? I call for a new tea party to protest this injustice!
Boekelaar - 10/19/2012, 7:47 PM
Oh and the Queen is still technically our head of state down under, she's the Queen of Australia, and she's also the Queen of New Zealand and seeing as they made the bloody films you'd think it'd go to all us royalists first haha
AEStark - 10/19/2012, 8:59 PM
Uhm... Isn't everything? Avengers was released on April 25th in the uk wasn't it?
jingorot - 10/19/2012, 9:16 PM
dammit! now i'm gonna have to spend a whole day on the internet dodging spoilers. yeah, i've read the book, but these films are sourced from other stuff too, apparently enough to fill out 2 extra films.
pro346 - 10/19/2012, 10:06 PM
When wilding says the rest of the world he must just mean the us because avengers came out in Australia before the UK by a couple of days I think:-)
TheSoulEater - 10/19/2012, 10:11 PM
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Danbojohnj - 10/19/2012, 11:11 PM
Rightly so!
TheMaster2011 - 10/20/2012, 3:22 AM
YEAH! we also get THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 two weeks earlier in england as well. and Iron Man 3 five days before America. It's just a shame you get KICK-ASS 2 earlier. I would rather have KICK-ASS 2 earlier and Iron Man 3 later
DarthVenom - 10/20/2012, 3:34 AM
Yeah!That's what I'm talking about.
JamesAsAlways - 10/20/2012, 3:36 AM
@blackandyellow You didn't listen in history class did you?...
batfan175 - 10/20/2012, 4:51 AM
it's a book written by a British writer. makes sense.
Facade - 10/20/2012, 6:11 AM
@batfan175...Tolkien was born in South Africa and PJ (and much of the cast and crew) are Kiwi, so go figure.
rebellion - 10/20/2012, 9:54 AM
