Josh Wilding Reviews: THE GREAT SHOWDOWNS By Scott C.

The greatest movie confrontations (yes, Han Solo versus Greedo is in here!) of all-time are re-imagined in this beautiful collection of artwork, and you can get my verdict on Scott Campbell's The Great Showdowns - on sale now from Titan Books - after the jump.

"In this beautifully funny chronicle of the world's most momentous confrontations, there is only one true victor. And his name is Scott Campbell," says Edgar Wright of The Great Showdowns. High praise indeed from the visionary filmmaker who will soon be bringing Marvel's Ant-Man to the big screen. However, there's no way that you won't agree with him once you start making your way through over 140 pages of Scott C.'s unique and charming interpretation of some of the most well-known movie confrontations. The book not only offers you the chance to own an entire collection of the critically acclaimed artists work, but also provides movie lovers with the opportunity to have hours of fun.

You see, Campbell makes the unexpected decision to not label each of his beautifully crafted watercolours, leaving it up to the reader to figure out where the confrontations are taken from. Some are easy, other's not so much, but either way, it makes The Great Showdown an extremely rewarding read. While the main selling point of the book is obviously the visuals, it does include a foreword from How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris and an introduction from Scott C. himself. It's undeniably a must-have for movie AND art fans. Buy it. The Great Confrontations is on sale now from Titan Books, and you can read my interview with the artist (in which he talks in great detail about creating the book) by clicking HERE.

Looks like fun, as some of the artwork I found to be humorous. I may check this out at the local bookstore.

E.T and the spelling machine. The greatest battle ever told.

That picture...I'm guessing that's the cover art. All of the pictures don't look like them, do they? In that case, as amusing as it sounds, that seems a little dull.

Please tell me I'm wrong, or give me a reason to be

It's not a kid's book.

This looks pretty damn awesome. I love Scott C's work, so I will pick this up.
