COMICS: Alpha To Get A Five-Issue Miniseries; Peter Parker Confirmed As Surviving ASM #700?
It's been widely assumed that Peter Parker would meet his maker in Amazing Spider-Man #700, but the news that Alpha will be getting a five-issue "Marvel NOW!" miniseries seems to indicate otherwise. Hit the jump for further details.
USA Today reports that a five-issue Alpha miniseries will be released next February from the creative team of writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Nuno Plati. He made his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #692 and quickly became one of the most disliked newly created characters in recent years (something which Dan Slott and Stephen Wacker have since claimed was their intention all along). According to the site, "Alpha will pick up with Andy three months since readers last saw him. His parents are splitting, and he's moving to Pittsburgh" and most interestingly, "he has to fly back to New York every couple of weeks on a Horizon private jet and check in with Peter on how he's doing." So, that presumably means that Peter Parker WILL still be alive following the events of Amazing Spider-Man #700. Of course, this could be another red herring - we won't know until December 26th! You can read more by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page, but the site mentions that the series will be set in Pittsburgh and that Andy Maguire will regain at least some of his powers.
