Talking on RTE Television's 'The Late Late Show' earlier today, Martin Sheen has confirmed that he will return as 'Uncle Ben' in Marc Webb's sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. "They've called me back, I don't know what the part is gonna be, but I'm going to be 'Uncle Ben' once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot it in February," the actor confirmed. As Peter Parker's father figure met his demise in the first instalment of the franchise earlier this year, it's safe to assume that we will see the character return in either a flashback or dream sequence. What do you guys make of this news? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

More than likely a flashback. Hopefully, they'll delve into Peter's parents' past. Like they promised they would in the first one.
TheAbomination - 12/7/2012, 5:55 PM
Definitely flashback(s).
DukeAcureds - 12/7/2012, 5:55 PM
As long as James Horner doesn't return. I used to like that guy, back when he gave half a shit, but the one bad thing, the one and only bad thing about the entire movie was that fvcking annoying score.
Please, please, please, please replace James Horner.
Worst superhero score since Green Lantern.
DukeAcureds - 12/7/2012, 5:57 PM
Charlie as a younger Ben Parker? Winning!
CaptainAmerica31 - 12/7/2012, 5:57 PM
^^^agreed although it did have its moments the score was pretty horrendous
TayDee - 12/7/2012, 5:59 PM
Its most likely gonna be a scene in which shows Peter together with Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and his parents, kinda like how they did in one of the Spidey annuals. They can also go the Ultimate Route, and throw Eddie Brock into the scene.
marvel72 - 12/7/2012, 6:01 PM
only in a flashback.
ironspider12 - 12/7/2012, 6:05 PM
no they bring him back to life with the lizard dna and he grows a new cock
Mrcool210 - 12/7/2012, 6:06 PM
oh cmon i loved the score, and yeah it will probably be a flashback, don't make him a be kenobi ghost like in the raimi movies
jimpinto24 - 12/7/2012, 6:13 PM
I say flashback scenes.
continuezero - 12/7/2012, 6:14 PM
^^^What Raimi Kenobi Ghost are you talking about?
KelvTwelve - 12/7/2012, 6:20 PM
Just saying Charlie Sheen is actually a horrible comedian.
aztecRaingod - 12/7/2012, 6:22 PM
Wow, the guys who deduced it would be in a flashback? NICE WORK. We got some regular Matlocks in here.

lmfao
HellsHammer - 12/7/2012, 6:26 PM
Kenobi ghost in Raimi films? Did I miss something?
Spideyguy94 - 12/7/2012, 6:28 PM
Got a feeling it's going to be a spider-man 2 hallucination moment.

@LEVITIKUZ you haven't seen TASM so you can't really comment on the movie
faver - 12/7/2012, 6:29 PM
I agree with DukeAcureds. The score was terrible, the worst I've seen for a superhero movie. MCU movies have pretty uninteresting scores, but at least they don't suck, they are just forgettable.
Optimus83 - 12/7/2012, 6:30 PM
more Uncle Ben for Amazing Spider-Man sequel. ...¡¡¡Good!!!
Lem1 - 12/7/2012, 6:36 PM
@DukeAcureds -The scores in general for the previous Spidey films were worse than James Horner's in TASM, even though I still expected more from Horner, just expected WAAAAY more from Danny ELfman, but that dude hasn't risen to the standards he set with Batman and Edward Scissorhands or Dick Tracy in recent times, except perhaps the theme for Alice In Wonderland.
-My take, anyways.
Chloefornication - 12/7/2012, 6:38 PM
That's great since his uncle ben was the best thing in that movie.
Tony93 - 12/7/2012, 6:42 PM
please no one mention the score.. ehh
CaptainAmerica31 - 12/7/2012, 6:45 PM
Lem1 you have to be kidding? Next to TDK trilogy the spiderman scores elfman created is the second best CBM score of all time. Elfmans score makes hornets sound like a little boy in the corner trying to play guitar and failing miserably
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 12/7/2012, 6:54 PM
DukeAcureds
Green Lantern had a score? LMAO
Lego - 12/7/2012, 6:55 PM
we all know Spider man can resurrect the dead with his penis
Spideyguy94 - 12/7/2012, 7:04 PM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 Yeah that green lantern movie that never happend
Dynamo - 12/7/2012, 7:11 PM
@HellsHammer
I think he means the scene in Spider-Man 2 when he has some kind of conversation with uncle ben in his head. I also think that scene was just out of place and soppy.
DrHorrible - 12/7/2012, 7:12 PM
@AmericanPsycho Why? He's never said it in the comics, so why would he say it in the movies? Just because Raimi shoe-horned it in? It's fine without the word-for-word line.

BTW I loved James Horner's score for the movie. To each his own, I guess.
Pending - 12/7/2012, 7:13 PM
Spider-Man's new theme sounds obnoxiously heroic its pretty lame.
AUSSYACE - 12/7/2012, 8:08 PM
Who Cares...
This Rebbot has already been screwed up...

And now Electro is all of a sudden black...

What a MAJOR F@%k UP...
DrHorrible - 12/7/2012, 8:08 PM
@JokerFanHAhaHA It's all good. It's a point that needs reiterating.
DrHorrible - 12/7/2012, 8:10 PM
@AUSSYACE If you don't care, why do you even bother commenting on this article anyway? Seriously, the logic on this site is messed up...
Pending - 12/7/2012, 8:13 PM
@JokerFanHAhaHA

Whether or not he said it, it fit perfectly with his ideology, Having him say the line made total sense and its a great line.
OptimisticPrime - 12/7/2012, 8:18 PM
Yeah, probably scenes of Ben, May, Richard, and Mary hanging out with Peter.
DrHorrible - 12/7/2012, 8:18 PM
@SpectacularSpider To me, at least, when I hear Ben say it, it just feels forced and spoon-fed. Almost like he's just saying it because Peter is becoming Spider-Man. It just didn't feel like something someone would say in real life, non-comic related. I think that the way TASM described the line, not outright saying it word-for-word, fit better.

I don't know. It could be just me.
superotherside - 12/7/2012, 8:22 PM
Meh, You're responsible Peter your father had an idea about stuff and things. But I can't say a phrase that's on the edge of everyone's lips because it's not modern enough...
superotherside - 12/7/2012, 8:23 PM
LOL. Don't get me wrong I liked TASM but I was sad that phrase was left out.
armagedom - 12/7/2012, 8:28 PM
i do agree with AUSSYACE give back the rights back to marvel
CoolantTech - 12/7/2012, 8:36 PM
Yeah I agree with @DrHorrible & @JokerFanHaha its pretty stupid for Uncle Ben to say "with great power comes great responsibility" seeing as how Ben didn't know peter had great power, Raimi just wanted to have him say that and it really dosen't make any sense when you think about it

The score on Tasm was Awesome, really don't know what the Hate is all about as I personally felt that Danny Elfmans score for the Raimi films was too ambitious for a Spider-man film, I mean com'on its Spider-man it should have a more reserved slicker sound... like James Horners
XavierLehnsherr - 12/7/2012, 8:38 PM
This Spider-Man movie series really does love doing the same things over and over again.
mgeoff88 - 12/7/2012, 8:46 PM
I just watched TASM for the first time last night. I thought Andrew Garfield was good in the role, but I was disappointed with it.

1. Spider-Man 2(my second favorite CBM)
2. Spider-Man
3. TASM
4. Spider-Man 3

Uncle Ben's death was handled a lot better in Spider-Man. In TASM, it felt very rushed and he didn't even say "With great power, comes great responsibility."

I really liked Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, so I'm glad he's coming back in TASM2. Even if it is just for flashback scenes.
TrueRedBlue - 12/7/2012, 8:50 PM
Well, thank god. From the way they handled it in the first movie, I thought they'd just forget about him. Good to see he's returning. Probably flashbacks.
