The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Regardless what some critics say, this is movie is damn well made, I have seen it, but not in 48fps, and I enjoyed it. And my god the dwarfs score is just beautiful!

Just saw it and waiting for bus home, they joy of smart phones with a keyboard.
Ignore the critics this movie rules!
Saw it in normal 3D, iit it is fine.
Only complaint is Glamdring still doesn't glow blue and neither does Orcrist.

hmmm interesting. I would have thought Orcrist might glow because I had heard that based on the design it seems Sting is a part of a set with Orcrist. Glamdring didn't glow in LotR because they wanted Sting to seem more special.

Can't wait to see this tomorrow! Off work tomorrow so we're going to a midday HFR 3D screening. Super excited to see it, grew up with Lord of the Rings, so have been dreaming of this ever since walking out of Return of the King.

Only complaint I've heard is about it's length but I don't see that bothering me. The less time spent here and more time in Middle Earth, the better! :P
