Michael Bay And Jonathan Liebesman's NINJA TURTLES To Start Filming This April

Production Weekly has revealed that principle photography will begin on the Michael Bay produced and Jonathan Liebesman helmed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this Spring. Hit the jump for details on where the shoot will take place!

The fact that the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is taking some huge liberties with how the characters have been portrayed in past comic books, movies and TV shows has upset a lot of fans, but work is moving ahead on the project regardless. It's safe to assume that Michael Bay (Transformers) and Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) more than likely haven't reverted back to the original title, but Production Weekly ARE usually extremely reliable when it comes to reports on when and where shoots such as this one will take place. With a release date set for May 16th, 2014, expect some solid casting news on this one very soon. Are you looking forward to the movie?

Im more curious than excited for this film. Assuming they're going for a more darker approach, that will be very interesting to see. But I think this movie will be will either be a big surprise or complete shit. Thats just my opinion.

@TheCrisisKing, to hell with your opinion. The kids today can always just have a new show or movie, they don't need to recycle things from the past to give it the damn Battle Ship movie treatment.
And the original Ninja Turtles film is still entertaining to watch for older generations, unless you think your too cool for it or something pffff

I'm still on the negative of this, the original script made me cringe really hard and I doubt myself that the new one will be as accurate as it could be to the original.

That noted, I can complain all I want because no matter what you say, writing an AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL story for TMNT isn't hard - they've done that MULTIPLE times by now. And there's also an OBVIOUS core that the story should follow.

The Smurfs was always a goofy little comic, Transformers had so much stuff going on 24/7, TMNT's 5 versions all follow similar characters and storylines. If they change any of the most basic aspects for no good reason at all, I still have the right to be angry.

Why? Because I think that TMNT deserves a movie franchise with actual heart.

Secondly, just because it can be marketed to kids doesn't mean it should be made just for kids. They're always going to be amused, but nothing matches up with a family that all wants to watch something together (one of the reasons I like Doctor Who so much)

I mean, the script leaked onto the Web, Bay and them saw that /everyone/ hated it, yet they're still going ahead with it.

TheCrisisKing@ TMNT has been an awesome comic for decades, 'till they sold to Viacom. Imagine if Michael Bay got ahold of Preacher and tried to market it to the Transformers crowd, with a real shitty director.

I would be excited were it not for the name Michael Bay attached to it. Any other director I'd accept, but Bay will ruin the turtles worse than FOX is doing to the x-men

Eh, can't say that I'm thrilled to see this movie moving forward. But I guess since its moving on, might as well expect the worst but hope for the best. (Well in this case, its just best to expect the worst)

I liked all the Transformers a lot, I also enjoy the old TMNT movies. On top of that I liked TDKR a lot as well. I don't understand why everyone hates everything!!

Despite the fact that people are justified in their outcries from what they DO know, i think we should all just calm down and see what happens. I remember people dissing "Man Of Steel" for a very long time. It got worse after the first teaser. Then it became a 360 after the second trailer. let's wait and see... i know boom boom bay is involved but lets see what Liebsman does

I cannot understand what is up with all the Michael Bay sledging...

I think his Transformers films are brilliantly made with all that cgi mixed in...Seriously my mind boggles at how well he does all of those effects and I would love to see anyone try...

I dig tons of explosions and heaps of action in a movie regardless how bad sometimes the story line is...I remember being blown away by the action in Battleship and walked out of the cinema saying to myself that I have never seen solid action and effects that literally go on non stop for over 30 minute periods and I love that shit,,,

If TMNT 2013 are blowing shit up everywhere and having 20 minute ninja fights...I am all for it...

Any which way my Nephews will want to see it so I will have very little choice in not being able to go...

why cant they just make the mirage tmnt a movie im not saying do all the stories from the comics just do the important ones like the first apperance of the tmnt purple dragon gang baxter and his mousers april and the foot also the police chase scene and kidnapping of splinter after issue two the raph one shot with casey jones and leo one shot where leo get his ass beat by the foot and the tmnt retreat and not the don and mike one shots the tmnt in space issues with fugitoid and return to new york and finally the city at war issues with the rat king leather head and karai also make her the long lost daughter of yoshi and shen but make her and saki think that she’s the child of orroku nagi that would make a good movie. like have the first movie about the tmnt origin kicking purple dragon ass and avenging the death of splinters master and wife by killing the shredder the second sequel about april and casey meeting the tmnt the third movie tmnt find splinter and turtles in space and finding the truth about there origin forth movie tmnt get there asses handed to them by the foot and tmnt return to new york and the final movie city at war karai and the foot vs. the mob vs. purple dragons vs. rat king vs. the tmnt and leather head just five god damn movies. also give them the red mask look back and make them look like a cross with a red eared slider and the neca/ mirage turtle prime look.

I'd rather have no new movie at all than a shitty one that will tarnish the brand for years. To be honest, I really don't even think we need a new one. The first one did it right, and still holds up today.

i really disliked transformers, i only watch the first one and the last one because i was stuck without any other option, well i could have sat and starred at the ceiling, i should have done that. on the other hand i know i will go see TMNT when it comes out, i even went to see the last movie they put out in the theater and boy did i get heat from my friends who i convinced to go! hope this one is much better and bay finally makes a good film, the funny scene in bad boys were awesome.
also does anybody have an update on the he-man movie? while we're on the subject of boy hood cartoons! any info??

Michael Bay may [frick] over the Ninja Turtles with this movie, but he will never [frick] over my awesome memories of my childhood:
