There were a lot of big moments in Geoff Johns and David Finch's Forever Evil #1, and while you may not think anything could top the shocking way that "Trinity War" ended, you'll never believe the fate of one iconic DC superhero! [WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD]

As you'll see from the pages below, the Crime Syndicate reveals the secret identity of Nightwing to the Secret Society AND the world. This is sure to have major ramifications for both Dick Grayson and Batman moving forwards, but with the Earth-3 villains claiming to have killed the Justice League, who knows if they'll ever get the chance to get retribution on behalf of the former Robin? Anyway, it's an incredible comic book and I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of this issue ASAP.

no but that was some epic shit, I hope they build upon that story rather than pretend it never happened like six months later.
mbembet - 9/4/2013, 4:11 PM
wait justice league is dead?
SuperiorMrGod - 9/4/2013, 4:29 PM

LOL
SpiderParker - 9/4/2013, 4:36 PM
So, how long till Batman's identity is revealed?
unknownfacts - 9/4/2013, 4:41 PM
If Bruce lobbing Batman Inc. didn't scream I'm Batman then his former ward being Batman's former sidekick should. But I'm extremely curious to see how this plays out in the future.
pesmerga44 - 9/4/2013, 4:45 PM
How is Batman's identity not revealed because he officially adopted Dick Grayson so you can't expect these villains to be dense enough not to put 2 and 2 together. I am sorry this is really bad especially for this "New 52" because they just revealed Nightwing's identity to Batman's entire rogue gallery that means Bruce Wayne is officially dead in the world because any time he goes out his entire rogue gallery will be after him. He can never be Bruce Wayne ever again and his company is gone. This is an absolutely terrible idea.
superotherside - 9/4/2013, 4:45 PM
LEVITIKUZ That sums up my thoughts exactly. ;p
CaptainObvious - 9/4/2013, 4:46 PM
Look on the bright side, Dick. At least DC isn't ran by Joe Quesada. Otherwise, you would be totally screwed.
JordanKing - 9/4/2013, 4:46 PM
Let's be real for a second. You'd have to be [frick]ing idiot to not no it's Dick Grayson behind that simple mask.
beane2099 - 9/4/2013, 4:48 PM
This story seems to have a couple elements from Identity Crisis - Dr. Light's death in Trinity War and now Grayson's identity reveal (and his loved ones being threatened). Probably a coincidence more than anything, I suppose. I like it though. When you think about it, this story is almost the reverse model of Marvel's (for cross overs). Marvel's thing has been hero vs hero for like the last 10 years. Here we're getting villain vs villain. I'm not by any means implying that this story is a reaction to anything at Marvel. I'm just stating the contrast is all. It's refreshing to see villains doing their thing in a crossover.
pesmerga44 - 9/4/2013, 4:48 PM
I am sorry but I hate this idea this is purely for shock and this is going to require a retcon now. Everything Bruce Wayne is now dead because they would go after everything he is. This isn't like Ra's Al Gul who while he does attempt to kill Batman and knows his identity he has to much honor and respect for him to go after him like this. UGH this is so stupid for them to pull.
JoeMomma29 - 9/4/2013, 4:48 PM
@ Levi

Dude you have way to much time on your hands.
beane2099 - 9/4/2013, 4:52 PM
@ Levi

Hopefully with this story we'll see Ultimate Nightwing folded into the main DCU.

Kidding aside, I'm actually digging Superior Spiderman (and Ultimate Spiderman for that matter). On a whim, I bought the first couple issues for my girlfriend (who loves all things Spiderman). My curiosity got the better of me and I read 'em. I been hooked ever sense.
GetsugaTensho22 - 9/4/2013, 4:55 PM
I'm sort of disappointed at the designs for the Crime Syndicate. I'd have expected something new and unique to reflect the New 52, but these are just very similar to the old ones.
Also, i thought Nightwing had a new costume? the one with the red stripe down the arm and those little things on his waist?

Still, pretty awesome event!
SpiderParker - 9/4/2013, 4:58 PM
Today, in Breaking News, the identities of the world renowned group of crime fighters dressed up as a Bat has been revealed and sadly within moments of this reveal, we are told that The Bat Family is found dead!
NBAfanaddict - 9/4/2013, 5:00 PM
Apparently Carol Ferris was wrong. People CAN keep their identities secret by covering just their cheekbones...

@Levi
give that man a cookie meme Putin
KINGPEN266 - 9/4/2013, 5:28 PM
@datscarletpimp i see what you did there lol
RexDartEskimoSpy - 9/4/2013, 5:38 PM
Considering Dan DiDio has had a hard-on to kill Nightwing for over a decade, this is pretty mild.

Huh. Autocorrect changed DiDio to idiot...
Ceejay - 9/4/2013, 5:47 PM
This isn't killing him, it's more than putting him out of his misery! As far as I'm concerned they killed Nightwing when they pulled that stupid cheap gag "death of Batman". They put him in the costume and magically grew another 6 inches. Then predictably they pulled that same bringing the main heroes back to life crap only to put him into some shitty confused half Red-Robin/half Nightwing suit.

Robin wears Red, Nightwing wore Blue, Dick had moved on, they regressed him and now like all DC sidekicks they are not allowed to enjoy life after reboots so death is the usual cheap way these writers get any drama into their silly comics.

So glad I stopped collecting this shit anymore. Animated show please in the good old black and blue costume only.
BritishMonkey - 9/4/2013, 5:57 PM
After reading that second to last panel I'm just expecting Hal to pop up anytime now.
DioFoRio - 9/4/2013, 6:37 PM
That's not John Blake..
AlSimmons - 9/4/2013, 6:39 PM
Don't worry. It's OK. He can just sell his... well I guess he doesn't have a marriage- son/father relationship with Bruce to the Devil and everything will come up Milhouse.
OldBenKenobi - 9/4/2013, 6:41 PM
Dying at Levi's 2nd comment. Also, the GLC is busy with Relic (and their rings are malfunctioning) so they wouldn't be much help.

Anyways, great issue. I can't wait to see how this thing goes on. Hopefully Johns wont spoil it.
maninfinesuit - 9/4/2013, 7:17 PM
Dick Grayson, age 12.
MrEko - 9/4/2013, 7:19 PM
*takes off tiny mask* "he's Dick Grayson" *everyone gasps* Bahahahhaaha, phew DC is soo hilariously cheesy, that dramatic reveal had me in stitches.
typicalfanboy - 9/4/2013, 7:55 PM
loved lex's reaction.
Shadowelfz - 9/4/2013, 7:56 PM

Don't worry. Dick will make a deal with the devil causing him and Batgirl to never have been together. We will then find out that Joker and Barbara have kids. Twins in fact. And just when you thought Dick's life couldn't be anymore shitty, a dying Riddler will switch bodies with Nightwing creating THE SUPERIOR NIGHTWING!!!

Could you imagine if someone actually wrote that garbage for some hero even if it's not Nightwing?

-Lol well played, Levi. It goes to show how horrible Spiderman comics have become.

As for this I think its pretty cool. I was figuring it would be another pointless death but this has potential for some interesting character and plot development. Kinda like how Daredevil had to deal with it.
v1101011 - 9/4/2013, 8:02 PM
@Levi - I REALLY needed that laugh today. Thank you, sir.
pesmerga44 - 9/4/2013, 8:13 PM
@nibs except Bruce adopted Dick Grayson after his parents were killed. So it is pretty easy to see that if Dick was the original Robin then Bruce must be Batman. What is probably going to happen is DC is going to come out and say "Oh ya we actually also retconned Batman adopting Robin but we just never said anything about this at all. It isn't like our editors and writers can't see an obvious issue with this and how it adversely effects our biggest hero to the point he can never be a normal person. So we had to say this is a retcon well after the fact we already pulled this. No we could never be that stupid."
ManCalledSting - 9/4/2013, 8:37 PM
You kids do realize that this is an event, and this doesn't mean it's a new status quo by any means.
ManCalledSting - 9/4/2013, 8:39 PM
When this is all over, and the dimension hopping is all over with, this will be all worked out. Most people upset about this, hate Superior Spiderman.

Somewhere in Bludhaven, there's a criminal saying "I always knew Nightwing was a Dick!"
MightyZeus - 9/5/2013, 12:42 AM
Who wouldnt have known that it was Dick Grayson behind that tiny mask on his face.

Poor Dick.
pesmerga44 - 9/5/2013, 8:20 AM
@nibs

Except Dick was the original Robin no one is going to put two and two together that a teenage kid was teaming up with Batman and now they know the kid was the adopted son of Bruce Wayne. They are not that stupid pretty damn easy to come to that conclusion.
Phlegmbot - 9/5/2013, 11:34 AM
Sigh...

Dear Everyone Above Who Likes This Idea:

Even within the confines of a fictional universe this revealing of Grayson's I.D. makes no sense. That is maybe you all just accept this b/c you remember the days when Iron Man was Tony's body guard (an idea which stopped working by the '80s), so you'll just buy any nonsense comics throw at you, but in order to believe that the world won't then discern Batman's secret I.D., would require you the reader believing every human in the DCU is a moron.

To whit: Let's give them the Bruce Wayne funds Batman thing. OK. Fine. If Donald Trump Jr. said he was funding a superhero, we wouldn't for a second think, "Oh, so he MUST be CrabMan." But if you then add into it that Trump's assistant on The Apprentice, sayyy, the old guy, George, turns out to be Little Claw (CrabMan's jr. partner, obvs)...the jig is up at that point.

I mean, come on, there's just so much "suspension of disbelief" a person can do!

Phlegmbot
P.S. WTF did they do to The Creeper? Worst comic book of the year? Possibly. Certainly worst dialogue ever.
ralfinader - 9/5/2013, 3:22 PM
"Hey, um, Superman. It's me, Bats. Hate to bug you, and all, but how fast can you make those robot duplicates of yours...and could you make one that looks like me?"
pesmerga44 - 9/5/2013, 3:44 PM
@nibs
" they will do whatever the writers want to write down on paper."

And that right there is a major issue sure they can do that but it shows no respect for their readers if they just throw any crap on the pages and expect the readers to swallow it and not complain. The only way out of this I see is one of two things. 1. where they come out and tell us how they rebooted Bruce adopting Dick so there is no physical or paper connection between the two just so happens to be after something like this happened or 2. they just forget this happened and hope we do to. Either way this is shit editing by DC's editors because it is their job to make sure shit like this doesn't happen at least at this large of a scale or this little of time from the reboot. Again this completely forces Bruce Wayne's cover blown because his entire rogue gallery know his adopted son is Nightwing and that he was the original Robin. How can you not expect these villains to put this simple conclusion together.
