Why does anyone who doesn’t work out automatically assume that someone with muscle is taking steroids. He has been big since he was a linebacker with the U of Miami. He has gained extra size because of his bodybuilding movie, returning to wrestling and this movie. Its not impossible to gain muscle with proper diet and exercise.

Ummm no. The Rock is looks huge because he's tall, but for a former football. Player and wrestler he's pretty average.

He's using Steroids or Human Growth Hormones, too obvious.
That's fine because he's not in any competition & not regulated by any sport.

At his age & how he's been big then smaller & now huge again..he using PED's.
He still must work crazy hard in the gym regardless. GO ROCK!

@Magnus66: I agree, diet and training can put on a lot of weight if you work hard. And it's not like Johnson has a job between films so his day basically consists of working out and eating.
Also, just a small note, Bale put on more like 80 pounds for BB

It's funny.

I used to hear similar things about and from Lance Armstrong. ;-)

First off, everyone knows the Rock has taken steroids.

A lot of wrestlers did so in the past.

Performance enhancers are VERY big in Hollywood and plenty of actors have admitted to using them. They aren't using steroids anymore though, but other things that produce similar results with less risk of obvious side-effects.

They just tell the public 'I hit a tire with a rubber hammer and ate chicken'.

That's half of the truth. You obviously have to work out when taking those drugs/hormones but to get to such a size as the Rock has been in the past and currently...it's going to take more of an artificial edge. Again, of course you have to work hard in the gym, but that level of muscle growth isn't natural without help of some form.

I still can't believe people actually thought all those baseball players were just lifting weights, but I guess they idolize these people and the thought of 'cheating' is too much for them to bear.

Lets get real..the majority of athletes in nearly every sport use PED's.
It's a fact. Your fooling yourself if you believe otherwise.

As a former collegiate athlete,it was not 100% of us using but most were for recovery/injuries.
The Rock is an actor now so he's not "cheating".

As a football player & wrestler there is no doubt he used PED's & continues to do so.
It's not an indictment or negative view of Dwayne,he's great but needs the juice. End.

I've said it before and I'll say it again,

THE ROCK IS GONNA HAVE PROSTHETICS ON HIS FACE!

My guess is his nose..maybe a beard too!

I just hope it doesn't look weird

Even if someone takes steroids, you gotta put work in the gym. It's not magic, you don't take them and instantly become ripped. You have to workout, a lot.

There's definitely health risks and certainly some ethical issues involve with the use of steroids and PED's (in particular in sports), but let's make it clear its not the easy button. You still have to everything someone has to do who's not on roids, it's just allows you to do it longer and build more muscle.

Well I spoke specifically about athletes 'cheating' not actors, but yeah you are right just about every facet of sports having people using PEDs. Rock undoubtedly did so in the past and I believe he does so in the present.

I personally do not have some sort of romanticized view of actors, athletes or any other celebrity. As you get older it's not easy to maintain the body you had in your 20's on a biological level. I understand why they do it and I am not here to judge them for it.

There was an interesting article from The Hollywood Reporter that delved into the subject of PED's in the business. A lot of pressure is placed on these actors and trainers were discussing how many A-listers were on PEDs to gain that sculpted look, as well as some actors and directors outright admitting they take them or are aware that those they hire are.

Hollywood and Steroids: When A-List Actors Go the A-Rod Route

Hollywood trainer Happy Hill, who has helped sculpt Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Phillippe, estimates that some 20 percent of actors use PEDs to bulk up and define. "HGH is on the scene now more than ever before," says Hill, who frowns upon PED use and stresses that none of his clients partake. "It's hard not to use. Some people, especially the older ones, are looking for that perfect gym body, and they want a shortcut."

------

The actor met with the film's trainer and outlined the performance-enhancing drugs, including human growth hormone (HGH), he already had been taking. The trainer, a firm believer that a chiseled physique should be achieved naturally, recused himself from working with the actor.

"He told me that HGH made him feel like nothing else ever made him feel," recalls the trainer, who declined to be identified out of respect for trainer/trainee confidentiality. "He was basically addicted. I told him to find another trainer. He did."

That actor, now an A-lister who continues to cash in on his impressive torso, is just one of Hollywood's growing list of stars who turn to injectable HGH and other performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) amid the ever-competitive world of looking great at any age.

That's the reality folks.

Is it a surprise that Hollywood's imagery is mostly illusion? Shouldn't be.

PED's are never gonna stop being used.
They are another tool to use in the world of gaining an impressive physique.

They are not "magic"...the sweat still must be shed in the gym working out hard & eating correct. People should just not overuse them like any other drug.

If some of you honestly believe is he steroid free, then you guys are insane. On matter of using steroids, its up him to use or not. He can only reach a certain point of your potential without it. It not a smart thing to use but if you are in the movies, sports or doing bodybuilding or wrestling for instance, then you have almost no choice.

Steroids don't make you taller, shorties. lol I'm not saying Rock never took steroids, what I am saying is that he didn't have to. His natural exotic cocktail of genes makes him a physical specimen already.

Besides, he's not even that big!
