Welcome to New York City years after a horrifying plague has swept the nation. The Big Apple is a quarantine zone – but that doesn’t guarantee safety inside! Flesh-eating zombies roam within the remains of Manhattan – and they are not alone. Vampires lurk in the shadows as well, feasting on the living and the undead alike – and no one is safe!

“Like a surgeon, George Romero is once again using the horror genre as a scalpel, cutting through the surface of everyday life to expose society’s undercurrents,” said editor Bill Rosemann. “One could say that the vampires are the Haves and the zombies are the Have-Nots. And us poor humans? We’re the ones getting caught in the crossfire of their escalating war. It’s a violent clash indeed, and Alex Maleev is bringing this undead battle to horrifying – but beautiful – life!”

What happens when the undead invade the city that never sleeps? Find out when Empire of the Dead #1 shambles into a comic shop near you this January!

I possibly could get behind this, art is decent. I'm not going to say that the living dead is getting old... nope, I'm not gonna say it...

George A. Romero could make a movie, of Gina dropping dunces for an hour and a half, and I'd watch that shit....see what I did there?

Night of, Dawn of, Day of, Land of, Diary of, and Survival of the Dead are all great movies. The Crazies was amazing as well. You can't make movies like that anymore.

I don't get it, why introduce vampires with zombies wouldn't it just be confusing as to who the real threat is?
TheDpool - 12/4/2013, 6:32 AM
And is Romero is afraid to step on American soil cause he'll be arrested? Remember he slept with an under age girl years ago and fled the country.

that's Polansky, not Romero.
UltimateWarrior - 12/4/2013, 6:45 AM
Roman Polanski did that.

He banged a 13 year old in the mid 70's, she cried rape for money and attention, they pleaded the charges down to "unlawful sex with a minor", but for some reasons he fled the country before sentencing, so all charges came back up, and are still pending.

Wait, zombies AND vampires? Ive immediately lost interest. I thought this was supposed to be a sequel to the Living Dead films not some weird zombies vs vampires series

I'm just hoping the vampires will drawn so that they sparkle in the daylite, that would be the bee's knees!

Diggin the art.

I would like to see Romero's take on vampires. makes a certain sense to me that in a world where zombies exist, other forms of undead would too. what about ghosts? demons (I know not undead but still)? you get the idea, etc. etc. etc.
I don't like this art though.
