Somewhere, The Rock Is Laughing: Four New Clips From THE LEGEND OF HERCULES

Summit Entertainment have released four new clips from their take on Hercules, but it seems fair to say that the Renny Harlin helmed release (which stars Kellan Lutz as the mythical Greek hero) won't prove much of a threat to the one starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson...

In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. When Hercules learns of his greater purpose, he must choose: to flee with his true love or to fulfill his destiny and become the true hero of his time. The story behind one of the greatest myths is revealed in this action-packed epic - a tale of love, sacrifice and the strength of the human spirit.

RorMachine - 12/28/2013, 10:54 AM
I'm sure the Ratner movie will be better than this..but there's nothing to say it won't also be crap! I like The Rock but he's not exactly very discerning when it comes to choosing movie projects.
ALegendaryPanda - 12/28/2013, 10:56 AM
They used TDKR soundtrack in the first clip! LOL wow
yonny616 - 12/28/2013, 10:59 AM
Did.. Did the first clip have one of the soundtracks for TDKRises?
ForeverPowerful - 12/28/2013, 10:59 AM

I doubt the rock is worried. This kid is half the size of one of The Rocks arms.
ALegendaryPanda - 12/28/2013, 11:01 AM

MrCBM56 - 12/28/2013, 11:05 AM

CASH - 12/28/2013, 11:15 AM
That last clip was honestly really hard to watch. Damn... this feels like a setup. Like a trap or something. Why would anyone want to duplicate this and actually send it to theaters?
SkaarJones - 12/28/2013, 11:21 AM
I was about to say this looks like a watered down, not good version of Spartacus, then I saw the 2nd clip where Spartacus saves his ass. lol
thewonderer - 12/28/2013, 11:24 AM
From Die Hard 2 to this. SMH
InfiniteMonkey - 12/28/2013, 11:25 AM
He looks loads better believable than Channing Tatum, and that's not saying much.

Meh, straight to the 3.99 bin.
SecretAvenger001 - 12/28/2013, 11:27 AM
Awwww...Did the little fella from the twinkling vampire movies try to big boy movie? And against all people The Rock!?! The highest paid actor of 2013! The main eventer at WrestleMania 29! It's made for DVD vs. Box Office Titan! I guess we all make bad decision in our careers!

I'll take Renny Harlin's worst effort over Brett Ratner's best effort any day of the week. Harlin, at least, can take a horrible cast and make a film seem like a tolerable TV Movie. Ratner, on the other hand, can have a cast of Oscar winning performers and turn it into garbage.

Ratner's best films include the Rush Hour series, X3, Red Dragon, and Tower Heist...

Harlin's best, but average efforts, include The Cleaner, The Covenant, Exorcist: The Beginning, Mind Hunters, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cliffhanger, Ford Fairlane, Die Hard 2. No masterpieces, but compared to Rattner, he's freaking Hitchcock.

Dwayne Johnson isn't going to save Hercules: The Scorpion King part 4. Oh, sure, he does action well, and his muscles will hypnotise fanbois the world over. He seems like an incredibly down to earth guy who I could see talking about philosophy with, but his best performance are in comedic roles like Runaway and Pain and Gain, the latter of which saw him acting next to Mark Wahlberg in a Michael Bay film...
Gary8264 - 12/28/2013, 11:31 AM
They shoulda called it ...The Twilight Of Hercules
BackwardGalaxy - 12/28/2013, 11:31 AM

Brainiac13 - 12/28/2013, 11:51 AM
Yeah looks like a TV movie.
CaptainObvious - 12/28/2013, 11:54 AM
This movie looks like it should have gone straight to DVD.

I strongly doubt Brett Ratner's film will be any good either.

Somewhere, The Rock Is Laughing: Best Title of 2013... I love it
Thegeekygurl - 12/28/2013, 12:07 PM
The thing I really hate about 99% of these Barbarian type movies is shaved, clean barbarians, people with modern haircuts or the use of modern phrases. And costumes that couldn't be manufactured in those times.
Not to mention Barbarians with time for bodybuilding and extraordinary grooming.

Like The Rock had plucked eyebrows in the Scorpion King and once I saw that I just stopped watching.
These types of movies are the polar opposite of what they should be.
I just watched the grim and gritty 'Out Of The Furnace' with Christian Bale. That movie was so authentic looking it was insane. None of the pretty Hollywood stuff. No nice and tidy, Hollywood ending.

Why can't we have just one Sword and Sorcery, Barbarian type film like that?? Without the pretentious, fake shaved bodies on groomed barbarians and modern fighting and dialog??
Just one of these films thats not afraid of body hair, unstyled hair and some dirt??

I've not seen every movie but I think the best sword and sorcery film I've seen is Excalibur.
SuperSomething616 - 12/28/2013, 12:08 PM
Yeah...I won't be seeing this film...

Thegeekygurl - 12/28/2013, 12:14 PM
@CaptainKrypton I was just thinking to myself that it's not good business for these guys to be dissing a film in favor of the next Rock vehicle.
After reading your comment you've got me curious about where they talk about this site on the Net? And if you know of some great sites that cover similar material.
Thegeekygurl - 12/28/2013, 12:17 PM
@SaxoWolf Did you like that show? I grew up watching it. It was a fun show except when they tried to get serious and killed Lolaus. And they really destroyed Xena in her finale. Heard they regretted that later.
GreenLanternRulez - 12/28/2013, 12:18 PM
So many haters on here. He's not an A+ actor, but he does a good job in the clips they show and the movie looks like alot of fun.

I'd see it.
Thegeekygurl - 12/28/2013, 12:20 PM
@GreenLanternRulez I think the tone of the headline invited ridicule.
SaxoWolf - 12/28/2013, 12:23 PM
@Thegeekygurl I watched it as a kid. not much of a big fan.
Conaan - 12/28/2013, 12:27 PM
Appropriately titled article. Well said.

And me? I'm laughing right along with him.
