Ben McKenzie will be joined in Fox's Gotham pilot by three more actors in what promise to be pretty major roles in the series which chronicles the early years of Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne. Robin Lord Taylor (Another Earth) has been cast as Oswald Cobblepot, a character described as having "the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney, and hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor." Sean Pertwee (Elementary) meanwhile will play Alfred Pennyworth, "A tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Pennyworth has loyally served the Wayne family. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne — the boy who will eventually become Batman." Zabryna Guevara (The Guilt Trip) has been cast as Captain Essen, Detective Gordon’s boss at the Gotham City Police Department Homicide Squad. "Essen balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop." Finally, Erin Richards (Being Human) will play Barbara Kean, Gordon's fiancée. She's described as being, "A sophisticated emergency doctor, Kean stands by her husband amid the corrupt world of Gotham."

StarYeezus - 2/11/2014, 10:09 AM
So does the casting of Alfred confirm it's seperate from the DCCU? Or maybe they can still connect it since he's technically a younger Alfred.
CherryBomb - 2/11/2014, 10:09 AM

Wow. Great find. All of this sounds great.
Enphlieuwince - 2/11/2014, 10:18 AM
Good deal. This is shaping up quite nicely...

Now, all they need is Shameless's Ethan Cutkosky for young Bruce Wayne and it's on.
Nomis - 2/11/2014, 10:18 AM
I haven't keep up with all the news about this show but have they mention if a YOUNG BRUCE WAYNE will be in it?

And if so, who would be portraying him if he is?
ezio619 - 2/11/2014, 10:18 AM

bigdannymac - 2/11/2014, 10:18 AM

Moohika - 2/11/2014, 10:21 AM
I really don't mind that's its not connected to the DCCU, since they take place in two different places in time.
Pasto - 2/11/2014, 10:22 AM
To big a star Moo.
Moohika - 2/11/2014, 10:23 AM
@Pasto
You're right and he's older than I thought

ezio619 - 2/11/2014, 10:26 AM

@Yoss
It could be interesting, just watching this 50 second commercial got me nearly teary eyed.

ShawnMadden - 2/11/2014, 10:27 AM
I still have a feeling based on timing that this will connect to DCCU. I mean, why waste an opportunity like that?
Klone - 2/11/2014, 10:27 AM
Is this going to be a pile of wannabe badass and awesome Low Winter Sun dogshit?
Pasto - 2/11/2014, 10:29 AM
Theme Song to Fox's "Gotham":

"Nah-Nah-Nah-Nah-that don't kill me, can only make me stronger. I need you to hurry up now cause I can't wait much longer. I know I got be right now, cause I can't get much wronger. Man I been watin all night now, thats how long I been on yah."
Nubase - 2/11/2014, 10:30 AM
sean pertwee is a cool actor, glad he has found himself a top role
ALegendaryPanda - 2/11/2014, 10:30 AM
Ya know, I'm actually looking forward to this show! I just really hope they don't drag it out for 10+ seasons. Unless it's necessary of course.
KidGoku - 2/11/2014, 10:30 AM
What makes this even more convenient is the 2016 release date for Batman vs. Superman...
Nubase - 2/11/2014, 10:31 AM
@MAC

find something else to do
GliderMan - 2/11/2014, 10:32 AM
No no no NO! Why should we support a BATMAN show (without BATMAN), that has been confirmed to have no relation to the films and is basically a rip off of Smallville?

WHAT A [frick]ING WASTE.
GodzillaKart - 2/11/2014, 10:32 AM
I hope this is good. With it being pre-Batman I would love to see it focus more on being a powerhouse drama.
BruceWayneNewton - 2/11/2014, 10:33 AM
Definitely as good of a casting for a young Penguin as they could have made. I'm actually looking forward to this show now.
Dedpool - 2/11/2014, 10:33 AM
WHOA!!! Impressive casting there, and I'm liking this description so far.
GeneralZod1138 - 2/11/2014, 10:33 AM
I'm actually looking forward to this show.
Nomis - 2/11/2014, 10:34 AM
@ Yoss - I disagree.

I think it's going to be very interesting to show the aftermath of the murder of his parents on a young Bruce psyche and personality and how Alfred and others might try to teach him how to cope with their deaths and not obsess over it.

Of course we all know he never will get over it, but the attempts to try and change Bruce's destiny should provide interesting drama and insight into Bruce's development.

Spidey10 - 2/11/2014, 10:34 AM
I don't understand the point of this show....there making a story where there is no story
Enphlieuwince - 2/11/2014, 10:35 AM
Ethan C. is also a second degree blackbelt in Taekwondo. Even though he's older than the rumored age for Bruce's role, he's still young enough to pass for it...
JasonBlue - 2/11/2014, 10:38 AM
Sean Pertwee (Elementary) meanwhile will play Alfred Pennyworth, "A tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Pennyworth has loyally served the Wayne family. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne — the boy who will eventually become Batman."

OHHHH YEAHHHHHH WE ARE GETTING THE EARTH ONE BATMAN!
QuestiontheAnswer - 2/11/2014, 10:38 AM
Looks like it's going to be good, acting-wise at least.
Nomis - 2/11/2014, 10:38 AM
@ Moohika - That spot give me Chills EVERY TIME I watch it!!!!!!

Look at Bruce's eyes before his parents are shot, they are alive, then when they get shot, they go Dead!

And through all the events the shape his life, his eyes are still dead, unitl you see him as BATMAN do they come back alive!
Malcopunch - 2/11/2014, 10:38 AM
Sean Pertwee's dad is Jon Pertwee..other wise known as the 3rd Doctor..that is intresting..
Pasto - 2/11/2014, 10:39 AM
BaneSmash - 2/11/2014, 10:39 AM
They can easily connect it to the Dccu as flashback since it's the early years............ I like.
