The X-Men stories have become very confusing.
KrazyForKomix - 2/28/2014, 3:23 AM
WHEW! I was getting worried there for a minute! I though . . .
well, never mind . . .
I'm just glad "WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN are back.
The world just wasn't the same while the comic's fate remained uncertain.

*whew*

Intrigued to see where this goes, but if there was ever a character that should NEVER get the Phoenix it's Quentin Quire.
figuresmaniac - 2/28/2014, 3:38 AM
what happened?
jimoakley666 - 2/28/2014, 3:46 AM
Really looking forward to seeing the next step in this brilliant book's journey. Still not keen on Wolverine's new suit / status quo.

The interior artwork and first cover are gorgeous. I hope Asrar stick around as a worthy successor to Bradshaw and doesn't get reposted after three issues a la Bachalo.

@figuresmaniac - It's the possible future that this book has been hinting at and trying to avoid since (before) issue 1. It's the possibility of Evan (Apocalypse's teenage clone created by Fantomex in the pages of X-Force after they killed the original as a child) Sabah Nur being corrupted against his will and bringing about, well, the apocalypse.

Thank goodness there are still more number ones!!!

So this series will be time jumping from stories in the now, to stories in the future.

I think Quentin is the baddie up there until he gains control over the Phoenix power.

Whatsup with the cat covers?

Also the colorist looks like he's trying to mimic Marte Gracia but its not quite working well.

i've finally been able to start reading some of these titles, and "Wolverine And The X-Men" is such a terrible name to call this book.

it's misleading and it doesn't really say anything that would give you a clue about what you'd expect to see in this book.
it should be called something to do with the school. or about how it's really about this class of kids.

"Wolverine And The X-Men" is why I've purposefully avoided it for so long. what a bad title for a book. but forcing myself to catch up on pretty much a little of everything from the last year, i'm finding the last run to really have a distinct style at least, and it shouldn't be lost in all the mess of Wolverines out there.
dethpillow - 2/28/2014, 5:22 AM
@tongtong - yeah it seems like that, but once you start actually following them, it starts making sense.

I think it's just bad presentation, a lot of it. things like marketing and what the books are called or pitched to people. total craziness on Marvel's part.

but I like how X-Men always keeps that convoluted mess of connections and different times and realities. u just have to keep up with it, kinda. cuz if you don't it's gonna seem like that really fast.

they should make one main title that only vaguely touches on all the soap opera type stuff. that avoids the hard core real deal stuff, as like a flagship title that people can read more casually. maybe they do that now, it's hard for me to tell, cuz i'm just now starting to catch up on it.

Is there anyone stupid enough to buy all the variant covers? I remember back in the 90's when Marvel started doing 20 covers for their books and everyone ran out and bought them and then were all pissed because the books were near worthless. Marvel puts all this focus on so many covers to try to get people to buy multiple covers for their books when they should try to get writers and artists that have a skill level over high school. Some of the books they've been putting out lately even look like grammar school kids drew them and in some cases wrote them as well. If you go back and read some classic books from the 80's, you'll see how bad the modern books are.
Nomis - 2/28/2014, 5:44 AM
All these rebooted "new" #1 issues won't be worth a thing if they keep doing it.
TheClemster - 2/28/2014, 5:47 AM
Yeah I am with Nomis on this one

I would rather have 3 xmen series that run for 100s of issues rather than constant reboot

They will lose the interest of long time fans, I know I am
TheClemster - 2/28/2014, 6:00 AM
Who agrees with Sid???
KeefNCookies - 2/28/2014, 6:03 AM

It's a good thought, but seemingly evermore a dream.

"The X-Men stories have become very confusing."

It's been that way since about 1989 now.

I loved the final issue! I guess now we get to see all the graduates in action. I hated the idea of renumbering, but the graduation makes sense out of it. This series will be their schooling put to the test.
