According to Entertainment Weekly, Cory Michael Smith (Dog Food, Camp X-Ray) has joined the cast of Gotham as Edward Nygma, the man who goes on to become iconic Batman villain The Riddler. He'll be a guest star in the pilot, but the option is appparently there for that role to then be expanded into a series regular. Recent iterations of a younger Nygma - in "The New 52" continuity - have portrayed him as an unhinged employee of Wayne Industries, but here he'll be "a brilliant young forensic scientist working for Gotham PD and a penchant for speaking in … rather cryptic language. Inquisitive, eccentric and outgoing — yet socially awkward — he wants to be liked, but he doesn’t quite know how." How do you guys feel about this news?

Riddle me this:
Who watches a Batman show without a Batman?
JoeMomma29 - 4/1/2014, 1:15 PM
@ MrSid

LOL! Well the Riddler was never really a ugly guy unless you take into the account the Arkham video games.
HeroWithAThousandFaces - 4/1/2014, 1:16 PM
Cool if they're using the Arkham Origin background.
thebearjew - 4/1/2014, 1:17 PM
i agree with mrsid

too good looking to be nygma
Comedian03 - 4/1/2014, 1:17 PM
I'm starting to feel like they're going to try cramming in as many characters as they can just to please the fans. Agents of Shield does the same thing and we all know how well that works.

@ Comedian

Actually I disagree they can have several story lines go on just like in Game of Thrones (NO FANBOYS I AM NOT COMPARING THIS SHOW TO GOT).
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 1:19 PM
This isn't a Batman show.
AsgardianHobo - 4/1/2014, 1:19 PM
@JoeMomma

He wasn't ugly! He just didn't like to shower or wash anything supposedly.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 1:19 PM
That awkward moment when AoS is actually good.
AsgardianHobo - 4/1/2014, 1:20 PM
maybe he was ugly :P
JoeMomma29 - 4/1/2014, 1:21 PM
Wow where can I get these time machines everyone has on this site so I can zip into the future to see this show...........since everyone is already condemning it before a single second has been shown.
thebearjew - 4/1/2014, 1:22 PM
to be honest i would have been super excited for this about 10 years ago but now-a-days i expect stuff to be connected so this, it just doesnt excite me
thebearjew - 4/1/2014, 1:24 PM
it is a prequel tv show ...to NOTHING
BANEofExistence - 4/1/2014, 1:24 PM
Looks good... I can see it, reminds me of the Arkham origins Riddler
Transforminator - 4/1/2014, 1:24 PM
This show's concept is undermining the idea of Batman. The idea that his presence creates his villains. Besides, at this rate these villains will be seniors by the time Bruce donnes the cape.
JoeMomma29 - 4/1/2014, 1:24 PM
@ ShadowPimp

That is freakin hilarious!

boboMELOSHE - 4/1/2014, 1:28 PM
@Comedian03 I think you mean Arrow lol, AoS has been criticized for having too few recognizable names while Arrow throws em around like its nothing.
Gusto - 4/1/2014, 1:28 PM
Sid...

JatevinM - 4/1/2014, 1:29 PM
I dont see the problem with having these characters show up before they take on their supervillain aliases its not like the majority of them aren't from Gotham anyway.
Joementum - 4/1/2014, 1:30 PM
Screw the DeLorean

Comedian03 - 4/1/2014, 1:30 PM
@JoeMomma29

Several storylines yeah, but the show is really only going to have one main character, Gordan, GOT has quite a few main characters to switch back and forth between.

I just hope it doesn't turn into an Agents of Shield situation, where they focus too much on fitting in comic-book characters, and not enough on developing their own standalone stories, characters, and plots.
GentlemanlyBatman - 4/1/2014, 1:30 PM
I can let it pass, I'll give it a chance as long as they don't cast a pre-Joker. That's the one rule of the Joker: he doesn't have a set origin. Yes Killing Joke exists but the point is that the Joker is a force of nature and even he himself doesn't know how he came to be for certain. But the Joker's origin before Batman has even begun is a cardinal sin and I will avoid this show if they brake it as it would clearly demonstrate that they do not understand the Batman mythos... screw Fox for me getting mad at the idea!
Klone - 4/1/2014, 1:31 PM
Batmaniac probably saw this and had a Kurt moment from Wrath of Khan.

"FOX! FOOOOOOOOOXXXXX!!!!"
GuardianAngel - 4/1/2014, 1:31 PM
I'm not usually one to judge things before I see them, but this is looking VERY bad.

LP4 - 4/1/2014, 1:35 PM
I wish I looked like this man. LP4 suddenly sad

Lol
GinjaNinja - 4/1/2014, 1:36 PM
ugh this show is starting to look bad... hopeing for the best though!
Spock0Clock - 4/1/2014, 1:37 PM
So, basically Batman pretty much only ever fights people who are 15-30 years older than he is... Sounds legit.
Klone - 4/1/2014, 1:38 PM
I'm content not looking like him :P

Besides, LP4, the lighting makes him look more handsome than he actually is.
