EXODUS Writers Hired To Pen Screenplay For ASSASSIN'S CREED Starring Michael Fassbender

Ridley Scott's biblical epic Exodus is one of this year's most highly anticipated movies, and writers Adam Cooper and Bill Colage have now been drafted in to rewrite the existing draft of the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. A perfect fit, wouldn't you say?

Like Splinter Cell (which recently picked up a director in the form of Doug Liman and will star Tom Hardy), Assassin's Creed is a high priority project in Hollywood as Ubisoft attempt to capitalize on the popularity of their video games by making movies based on them which are actually, you know, watchable. According to Deadline, Ubisoft have now hired Adam Cooper and Bill Collage to rewrite the movie which will see X-Men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender take on a lead role. The duo were responsible for the original draft of Exodus, and have also written The General for Noah helmer Darren Aronofsky. They have a number of other projects in the works, but the fact that they are now attached to this one - which, if it follows the story of the original game is set during The Third Crusade - should come as very welcome news to anxious fans.

Isn't this coming out summer next year? And they don't even have a script or a cast yet (besides Fassbender)?
BritishMonkey - 4/7/2014, 6:51 PM
I want to see a Prince of Persia sequel.
MrStarLord - 4/7/2014, 6:52 PM
Been looking forward to this since they first announced it.
GiantNerd - 4/7/2014, 6:52 PM
@Lozzy

Fassbender is all you need!
ManofSteel23 - 4/7/2014, 6:54 PM
As long as they stick to the actual story to the first game, and not make some thing different just to make it different from the game, thats why I hated prince of persia so much and why I cant STAND the resident evil movies and every other game to film adaption, other than that I cant wait
Mercwitham0uth - 4/7/2014, 6:55 PM
Video Game to movie adaptations are usually pretty horrible.
SuperCat - 4/7/2014, 6:57 PM
Never played the game but I may see this.

MrMartinMarvel - 4/7/2014, 6:57 PM
@ManofSteel22 Well if that's the case, you're definitely gonna hate this movie. Ubisoft confirmed the movie will be an original story.
DamienA - 4/7/2014, 6:58 PM
So will it be Altair or Ezio in the storyline?
Tony93 - 4/7/2014, 6:58 PM
one of my fav game franchises, with one of my fav actors, very anticipating
FlapjackAce - 4/7/2014, 7:00 PM
Love the games, I hope the movie is just as good.
Ocelot - 4/7/2014, 7:02 PM
I remember them saying that it would be an original story.
ComicsBornAndBred - 4/7/2014, 7:18 PM
Fassbender doesn't make bad films. He won't let it be bad, es too badass for that
Melkaticox - 4/7/2014, 7:22 PM
@DudeGuyMan To be fair, the Russo had Feige AND Whedon to help them...
Influence. It's the same with Nintendo when they team up with crappy studios (Rare, Silicon Knights, even Retro Studios before that happened)

Wait, it's an original story? ...Well, shit, this movie's gonna be shit.
BubSnikt - 4/7/2014, 7:28 PM
Finally some news! I wonder if Fassbender is going to play both Desmond and his ancestors. They all have pretty much the same looks, just their hair is different
sKeemAn - 4/7/2014, 7:37 PM
Game is pretty fun. It gets extremely repetitive though. Story-wise if done right this could be a great video game adaption. Those don't go over well with GA though.
Starfox - 4/7/2014, 7:46 PM
@Whysoserious54 - The Counselor wasn't really Ridley Scott's fault though. McCarthy wrote a horrible screenplay lol.
SuperioR23SupermaN - 4/7/2014, 7:48 PM
Exodus highly anticipated?

This is actually the first I've heard of it

Thanx for keeping me in the loop guys
Mrcool210 - 4/7/2014, 8:10 PM
ill wait to see exodus, but i doubt it will be good, ridley scott hasn't made a good movie in years
chris043 - 4/7/2014, 8:37 PM
Ezio Auditore da Firenze or gtfo.
Super12 - 4/7/2014, 8:42 PM
Dude I'd never heard of the Exodus movie. Looked it up, sounds awesome! Except I'm not sold on Christian Bale as Moses....
Gambit10 - 4/7/2014, 8:51 PM
Ha, interesting. I always thought Michael Fassbender should be the one to take on a lead role.
UltimateHunt - 4/7/2014, 9:22 PM
Good news. Better be Rated R
mgeoff88 - 4/8/2014, 12:25 AM
I haven't heard of the Exodus movie before now.

I think this has the potential to be a great video game movie adaptation.
MightyZeus - 4/8/2014, 12:59 AM
It would be better if a film based around Black Flag where done.

I'm interested to see how well this film does.
agni17jun - 4/8/2014, 1:19 AM
If Oliver bowden is kept on board to see over the script then all will be okay! And its AC guys...have faith! Ezio will rest all ur doubts to peace...
case - 4/8/2014, 1:40 AM
That's promising. I wouldn't think Fassbender would put up with a crap effort though. Still odds me out that he took it upon himself to drive this one - wonder if he's a bit of a gamer..?
MrSotoMan - 4/8/2014, 5:57 AM
For starters I love the idea of an Assassins Creed movie, with the right story behind it. I always thought the Ezio trilogy would make a fantastic trilogy, but none of that bullshit between re-living memories, just living the past of Ezio's journey.

I never liked Altair, he was a boring character and Ezio was the last character I played as.

I have given thought about Assassins Creed 3 though recently, since Gamestop tremendously brought down the price from $19.95 to $13.95, don't know if that is a good or bad sign but it looks enough to warrant me back into the world. On my first paycheck maybe pick up Black Flag and be totally caught up.
DaVinci31 - 4/8/2014, 6:25 AM
Nope, not feeling it. Their past work doesn't give me an ounce of hope for this project.
MrSotoMan - 4/8/2014, 6:39 AM
@DaVinci31- FOX is NOT funding the movie, Ubisoft & Michael Fassbender are. FOX is only charge of distribution which means they have no control on the final outcome of the movie or creatively change any moments for the movie.
Gusto - 4/8/2014, 7:06 AM
That game shouldn't be called
Assassin's Creed. It should
be called walk around unendingly
tryin' not to bump into shit
whilst being bored as [frick].
Facade - 4/8/2014, 3:29 PM
ACBF is pretty damn awesome! I've never played the 1st AC, so this could be cool. Fastbender as the lead is also very promising.

Didn't know anything about Splinter Cell with Hardy, either...also good news!
