Small Screen BATMAN Prequel Series GOTHAM Ordered To Series By Fox

The pilot - which we were lucky enough to see plenty of set photos from - has obviously gone down well with Fox, as they have confirmed today that Gotham has been picked up for a first season. That series focuses on a young Jim Gordan and Bruce Wayne after the murder of his parents.

It's official! As expected, a full season of Gotham has been picked up by Fox. Why isn't this news a surprise? Well, the network would have had to pay a hefty penalty had it not been ordered to series, but despite that, they obviously wouldn't have moved ahead with something they're not happy with which should give us all a reason to look forward to Gotham debuting this Fall. Ben McKenzie will front the series as Detective James Gordon, and he'll be joined by Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith as crime boss Fish Mooney, David Mazouz as Young Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Wayne family servent Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (a.k.a. The Penguin), Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman), Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean, Zabryna Guevara as Gotham PD Captain Essen and guest star Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma (a.k.a. The Riddler). Are you guys excited?

DEVLIN712 - 5/5/2014, 2:37 PM
I'm looking forward to this series, I think we should at least wait until we see some footage before we call it shit
Moohika - 5/5/2014, 2:41 PM
I'll actually wait until I see if it's any good. Then I will call it as I see it.
MrCBM56 - 5/5/2014, 2:41 PM

DrunkenNukem - 5/5/2014, 2:42 PM
No hopes for this show, no hopes at all.

DrDoom - 5/5/2014, 2:43 PM
Riddler is in this?
Brainiac13 - 5/5/2014, 2:44 PM
This series will blow minds........Its the world of Batman.

I hope they jump years for each season.......we'll get to see a young Bruce traveling the world.

I recommend this for reading...

Brubaker & Rucka

Batman only appears once or twice throughout the 40 issues.

Starfox - 5/5/2014, 2:45 PM
So this is Like Smallville basically?
Pasto - 5/5/2014, 2:46 PM
StarFox
If Smallville was about Lois Lane.
TheAbaryMan369 - 5/5/2014, 2:47 PM

"It doesn't even matter if the series is "good" or not. Its another unnecessary Batman production that we have nothing to gain from."

DING DING DING!
0megaDaGod - 5/5/2014, 2:49 PM
Though this isn't a batman show, and has a lot of potential for cringe inducing moments involving young Bruce, it's still a show about two VERY big parts of what makes Batman so great

Jim Gordon, and Gotham

If they handle those things well and really sell the world as it's presented in the comics (or the movies) then I can see this becoming a surprisingly good TV show. And I'm glad it's not connected to whatever DCCU they cook up in the future. Let it be autonamous and do whatever it wants with whoever it wants. Anyone who reads DC should be familiar with all the different Earth's and Elseworld stories. Look at this as something similar to those and enjoy it for how good it ultimately ends up being
SAZMD - 5/5/2014, 2:53 PM
I would have rather Fox renew Almost Human instead.
Wingding - 5/5/2014, 2:53 PM
@Brainiac13

I don't see a picture. What from Brubaber and Rucka?
thebearjew - 5/5/2014, 2:54 PM
its a prequel to NOTHING!

i wont say indefinatley that it will be sh*t bcuz i havent seen it but based on the synopsis photos n all the intel we have on it it does not look interesting
SuperCat - 5/5/2014, 2:57 PM
I'll watch it.
patrat18 - 5/5/2014, 2:57 PM

Crime Drama + Gotham setting = My viewership

@Wingding

sKeemAn - 5/5/2014, 2:59 PM
I'm waiting to see the pilot before I judge. It doesn't sound like the best idea, but it is a cop drama, and those do well on tv.
Brainiac13 - 5/5/2014, 3:00 PM
Comedian03 - 5/5/2014, 3:01 PM
Still not too sure what to think of this show yet.

RetroFit - 5/5/2014, 3:01 PM
I couldn't be less interested in this than I already am. I'm sure it will get fans. If Agents of SHIELD can, then anything can. But it's just not for me. Gordon just isn't Gordon without being Gordon. And this guy just isn't Gordon.
Brainiac13 - 5/5/2014, 3:02 PM
@Wingding

This series is one of the best I read.......Ed Brubaker also Cap stories which CAP2 is based on.

One of the best writer in the industry.
JamesMan - 5/5/2014, 3:02 PM
I wonder if the people who are already dismissing this show know about the huge rich history with Gotham pre-Batman. This is a chance to highlight those things and not just Batman.
Mothchild - 5/5/2014, 3:03 PM
If it's good entertainment, I'll be happy.
Brainiac13 - 5/5/2014, 3:04 PM

@JamesMan
They most likely don't. I'm willing to bet they are "Batman" fans because they liked the Nolan movies and think that's what Batman is all about.
marvel72 - 5/5/2014, 3:05 PM
no batman no watch,its that simple.
MrBlackjack - 5/5/2014, 3:06 PM

I'm too sure about this, but I'll give it a shot.
Kyos - 5/5/2014, 3:07 PM
I'll give the pilot a chance, and if it's good I will watch more. Right now for me personally the whole show has nothing on the 'pro' side but Donal Logue.
McNyagano - 5/5/2014, 3:08 PM
Knowing Fox, this will get cancelled too. lol
MercwithMouth - 5/5/2014, 3:08 PM
Lol, so JadaFish gets a TV show? Hmm...another cancelled effort by Fox. I think this will do as well as Dads...although it'll probably be funnier.
