Batman is one of the most popular and one of the more influential superheroes of all-time and while he has surely had his hits and misses, it's hard to deny that no superhero has had more success on the big screen than the Caped Crusader. Since 1949, he has had twelve theatrical releases and has approximately four films currently in the pipeline, with Ben Affleck under the cowl, including Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, two Justice League films, and a new solo Batman adventure. This tally doesn't include his direct-to-video film appearances.

To celebrate his theatrical journey, amateur filmmaker Jacob T. Swinney compiled some of the Dark Knight's best cinematic moments. Check out the impressive video below and a special thanks to CBM user ImKennyPowers for the heads up on the video.

Mask of The Phantasm is the best Batman film yet, followed by Batman and Batman Begins.

Wow, great video!!! The Batman is the best character to explore in different ways on the big screen. Too bad this didn't include some of the better straight to DVD animated movies like YEAR ONE, GOTHAM KNIGHTS and THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

Snyder has a lot to live up to!!!

They finally got Batman right with the Nolan trilogy and now they have returned to having him running around in pajamas driving a go cart. I think we have seen the best of Batman and now it will be downhill.

I've always felt the 'perfect' Batman movie lies somewhere in a zone between the 1989 Batman movie (colorful comic book energy) and Batman Begins (harder edged realism and drama). That combination (shifted through a strainer of the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini Batman animated features) would give you something that would hit it right our of the park.

man, the Burton films really defined Batman for a modern generation. The tone and aesthetic of those movies were amazing

If any one is interested starting March 7 on the Turner Classic Movie channel they will start showing the first Batman serial at 10 am. They will showing a chapter every week. I don't know if after this they well be showing the second one or not but if you haven't seen the it it is fun to watch. Not as good as the Superman ones or the Captain Marvel serial but still fun.
