'Thundercats' buried at Warner Brothers!

While this news is bad news I kinda had a feeling this would happen.
When I first saw the 'Thundecats' concept art released earlier this year I felt like a kid again in the 80's, running back in the house to settle down and watch the best 30 minutes on TV a boy could ask for in seeing Mumm-ra yell every time he was on screen. The 'Thundercats were on the loose and Lion-o was sure to shut the mummy up!

Not so much anymore! Reliable sources from Warner Brothers has reported that the rumored and much anticipated 'Thundercats' movie is buried. Not happening. Kaput.

This pains me to report such non sense as 'Transformers' and 'G.I. Joe' has hit box office gold in recent months. Both of those movies were 80's properties converted to the big screen successfully, one would think that the next logical step would be the 'Thundercats' but alas, I guess not.

Good news is that there are a few online video games that you can play. They have the feeling of the original NES. Check them out by clicking the source link.

Also, Hard Hero has created two porcelain 'Thundercats' statues, Lion-O and Cheetara!

Which are cool and priced at $199.99.

The game and the statues are cool but nothing, I mean nothing could replace the news of the 'Thundercats' getting the much deserved green light. COME ON MAN!!!

Fear not, watchmen spent nearly 20 years buried and still got made. Someone will pick this up one day.
wards - 12/29/2009, 10:33 AM
i agree w/ wards.
A7 - 12/29/2009, 10:35 AM
Would have been garbage anyway. The movie versions of Transformers and GI Joe were not a good thing.
imnotwearinghockeypants - 12/29/2009, 10:36 AM
THUNDERCATS are GO!!!! : D

WARDS @ Does have a point! Hell WONDER WOMAN and FLASH are off and on like YOYO's lol!!

LEEE777 - 12/29/2009, 10:40 AM
lets be fair lol! TRANSFORMERS WAS "ENTERTAINING" NOT GOOD, AND AS FAR AS G.I.JOE? THAT JUST PLAIN SUCKED ASS!
dellamorte1872 - 12/29/2009, 10:42 AM
Wow, I mean, with Thundercat people all the rage these days since Avatar came out, you'd think WB would try to cash in on that... ;)
InTylerWeTrust - 12/29/2009, 10:43 AM
Boooooooooooo! But im sure we will hear more about this. They must see the fan support online for the kitties.
RorMachine - 12/29/2009, 10:47 AM
GI: Joe was better than Transformers 2.

And GI: Joe was cheese - slimey shredded parmesan grated melted cheese - with horrific CGI that made Transformers look like the Schindler's List of CGI - and it was still better.
Keven - 12/29/2009, 10:50 AM
Pussies dissing pussies. How ironic.
SirPrize - 12/29/2009, 10:51 AM
ROR @ Yeah theres lots of support for this, WB will wake up, fingers crossed!!
LEEE777 - 12/29/2009, 10:53 AM
They could at least do an animated movie if they are too scared to invest in a live-action one.

@Lee what type of file is your avatar? I tried to use a motion one but it would only show up as a still picture.
TNTjesus - 12/29/2009, 10:55 AM
Given Hollywood's obsession with ruining the greatness that was the 1980's, have patience. They'll get around to ruining the Thundercats, which was one of my three favorite animated 80's series, along with the original Joe and Transformers, soon enough.

I like TNT's idea of doing an animated Thundercats movie. That would probably be better than trying to CGI them or do them "live" with goofy makeup and prosthetics.
comicb00kguy - 12/29/2009, 10:57 AM
LAME as heck!!!
ElBicho - 12/29/2009, 11:03 AM
Lee what up dude!! Hope everyone had a good holiday! I agree with TNT, they need to at least do something animated. Joe was bad but it still got made, here we go again with this statement, 'if it is done right it could be epic.
jman1977 - 12/29/2009, 11:07 AM
TNTjesus @ Yeah i had that problem too!!!

NATE @ Told me you can only put small moving gifs on here, like 70x 70x , nothing bigger man, then you'll avatar will work! ; )
LEEE777 - 12/29/2009, 11:09 AM
Actually i think its suppose to be x70 x70 lol!

Yo @ JMAN! Great dude!! Got lots of SOCKS! : p

Hey hope you've been having a great Christmas too man!!!

LEEE777 - 12/29/2009, 11:11 AM
awwww man, oh well
luffycapri - 12/29/2009, 11:15 AM
Id love to see this happen. The more adult comics showed what a great concept it could be.
invalensname - 12/29/2009, 11:28 AM
I hope they sharpen up the story from the animated feature. Do you guys remember people zooming around in space exposed without spacesuits?? Even as a young kid that made me cringe. Or, when they came across Lynx-o, Pumyra, and Bengali; Lion-o bestowed upon them the title of Thundercat. A title that was understood early on in the show to be reserved to the nobles of Thundera. Specifically, the heads of the clans which comprised the Panther, Tiger, Cheetah, and Lion clans. Alson, they never explained the story of Third Earth. Why it was the way it was.
Perhaps these are the type of story challenges they ran into while in development.
Phinehas - 12/29/2009, 11:30 AM
Where's the link for the online video game? I never heard of it before (gotta get my Thundrillium fix somewhere!!!)
Nerdcules - 12/29/2009, 11:42 AM
Thundercats! Thundercats! Thundercats! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

lol
SixSixteen - 12/29/2009, 12:00 PM
I doubt they actually tried to think about any of those concepts intelligently phin, I mean come on according to Hollywood ice sinks.

And for all its faults Transformers 2 was still far more watchable than gi joke.

I was really looking forward to Vin Diesel as Panthro.
thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 12:04 PM
Oooooh Noooooo! Thundercats Hooooo

Betty - 12/29/2009, 12:04 PM
Personally, I'm tired of the 80's Cartoons getting revived via Live Action Movies. But Thundercats was the one I could see actually being truly epic if done right. So this does make me sad.
Skot888 - 12/29/2009, 12:05 PM
twG- When did ice sink in a Hollywood movie? LOL
Phinehas - 12/29/2009, 12:09 PM
Animation is ok, but I want I live action. I say no to animation. It was already a cartoon for god sake! This does suck. If u really pay attention to the art work at intro, u can see that is was flashy @ some points, then downgraded @ others.

Spock - 12/29/2009, 12:43 PM
[frick] no big screen CGI snarf
bleedthefreak - 12/29/2009, 12:44 PM
Gi joe phin, gi fricken joe. Classic scene. Which would lead me to believe that wouldn't have had a problem with Liono cruising around space without a suite.
thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 1:00 PM
WB is just killing everything. They just dont want to make anything, No Sups, No Cats, no nothing.
Jalv - 12/29/2009, 1:04 PM
How can Warner brothers do this to me :(
tyko450 - 12/29/2009, 2:11 PM
Thats a shame. I had high hope for this project. Live action Mumm-ra would have been so evil!!
longbowhunter - 12/29/2009, 2:18 PM
WB, YOU SUCK !!!!
biggcess - 12/29/2009, 2:19 PM
I just watched a Thundercats cartoon from the 80's again and oh boy:) It's a big change from what I remember to what it actually is. That is so with every 80's cartoon property though. But when I say Mumm-ra is the ever yelling in almost all of his scenes I was spot on. Try watching it again to see Mumm-ra yell all the time its worth a few laughs:) Good times, Good times.
jman1977 - 12/29/2009, 2:43 PM
I was realy looking forward to seeing this movie and it could have been good if done right it would have to be r rated probably but 2 bad it won't happen now
massfable3 - 12/29/2009, 3:08 PM
I was mostly looking forward to this movie because I wanted a live action version of this video as a dvd extra

thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 4:19 PM
This show has solid potential if they can shore up some of the story weakness (like flying around in space on the back of motorcycle) and strengthening those areas that appealed to the audiences (The Thunderan and Third Earth back story). It was Planet of the Apes meets Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars. It can be done, and done well. I'd be all for live-action. If they could do Avatar, they could do this. But more depth than Avatar with less perversion.
Phinehas - 12/29/2009, 4:28 PM
Yeah, I agree the show had an interesting concept, especially for an 80's cartoon. I really enjoyed the re imagined wild storm comics from '03, weird bondage fetishes aside it really did take a serious look at the world of Thundercats.
thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 4:55 PM
Thats Bullshit...if it was any other company Thundercats would be a go......[frick] Waner Bros.
Nightwing09 - 12/29/2009, 5:12 PM
Awwww
Fartman - 12/29/2009, 5:23 PM
Damnit I really wanted to see this. well shit. F**kin Warner Brothers
Remy83 - 12/29/2009, 5:55 PM

CHEETARAH GOT A NICE ASS, I WONDER WHY LIONO DINT GET SOME OF THAT?

"SO..UMMMM, ......WHERE'S YOUR NIPPLES?"

GUNSMITH - 12/29/2009, 6:17 PM
WTC!!! COME ON.

@ Gunsmith
yeah cheetarah was a hottie.
look liono is check'n her out right now. that's why they're no showing any thing below the waist. LOL!

so how about a Silverhawks movie?
shadowboxer - 12/29/2009, 7:04 PM
I don't know whey they wouldn't make this movie with all the toy tie-ins and merchandising. It is a cash cow even if the movie flopped. That would be so Awesome to see a Big Screen Live Action Thundercats done with Special effects and make-up like Star Wars and Hellboy.
SuperPowered - 12/29/2009, 7:07 PM
Angelina Jolie as Cheetarah!!!!
SuperPowered - 12/29/2009, 7:07 PM
Racheal McAdams for Cheetarah

liono and feaky deaky carrot top are the same! they got the same hair and eye brows. he prefect! LOL!

shadowboxer - 12/29/2009, 7:14 PM
twG-
I totally forgot about that one! I've been spending the last six months meditating on forcing out bad experiences from my memory. GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and ice floats that sink is among them.
Phinehas - 12/29/2009, 7:56 PM
No fear James Cameron is here some where around the corner lurking, waiting to take of this project after his next 3 movies it will happen you watch and see.
thegamedrex - 12/29/2009, 8:11 PM
I'm sorry that I ruined six months of hard work then, you have my deepest condolences Phin.
thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 8:57 PM
WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF ... this is horse shit... DAMN you WB DAAAAAAMMMMNNNNN YOOOOOOUUUUUUUU.....

They are losing a shit load of money not moving forward with any of these titles Thundercats / Superman / Wonder Woman and the Flash ....COM'on get you collective heads out of your asses and make these movies....
thegreek - 12/29/2009, 9:14 PM
TheGreek...my thoughts exactly.

twG- I'll live.
Phinehas - 12/29/2009, 9:52 PM
I'm going to guess you didn't grow up on these cartoons
thwhtGuardian - 12/29/2009, 10:39 PM
Well, Then how about a Pirates of Dark Water movie?
that was an awsome cartoon series....
georgia49th - 12/30/2009, 12:34 AM

Hell ya
georgia49th - 12/30/2009, 12:41 AM
LIVE ACTION SMURFS IS HAPPENING!..THEY ARE WORKING FOR BEER AND TWINKIES...

GUNSMITH - 12/30/2009, 4:32 AM
@ Georgia49th That's a blast from the Past, Pirates of Dark Water sweet. I wonder if they will ever release it on DVD.

Roninidas - 12/30/2009, 7:23 AM
Pirates of Dark Water had a really good concept it has potential ... Not as much as Thunder Cats / Wonder Woman / Flash and Supes ... But potential nonetheless
thegreek - 12/30/2009, 7:46 AM
GOD I HOPE THEY MAKE A DARK WATER MOVIE!!!!!!!
Nightwing09 - 12/30/2009, 10:11 AM
When that Pirates of Dark Water show came out, I was already watching something else but it looked good.
Phinehas - 12/30/2009, 10:58 AM
Pirates of Dark Water AND Thundercats? Have I died and gone to 80's Cartoon heaven? All we need is Voltron, Silverhawks, and Robotech and we got ourselves a party!

IrvineGray - 12/30/2009, 1:25 PM
If there is anyone who should play Juga in a live action tundercats movie it should be Stephen Lang
