Well some of his rank upgrade could be because of wanting him to not talk about the robots. Also he was one of the key members that helped defeat an invasion.

Does anybody know much about Jetfire at this point? If I remember correctly from G1, didn't Optimus and others ride in Jetfire's transportation mode? And if that's the case, is that Jetfire in the first image unloading Optimus?
