Will We See Cable In The Deadpool Spinoff?

Ryan Reynolds discusses whether or not Cable is going to be in the Deadpool Spin off and what other Mutants he would like to see.
When asked if Cable will appear in the yet untitled Deadpool movie Reynolds replies: "We'll see. That is all being discussed, "I'm hoping Cable will be in it. Look, I've made no secret that I love that character."

Reynolds was more positive, however, about two other X-Men characters showing there ugly mugs: villains Ajax and Black Tom Cassidy. "I also love some of the more preliminary characters at the beginning of the series. I like Ajax — that's an easier character to put in. And Black Tom," he states. "I think there's a lot of different villains (we are considering); you could do a whole bunch of villains in (the first solo Deadpool film), or you could just have Deadpool going up against one guy. We'll see."

Cable would be nice... Hard to explain (the general public doesn't like the cloning explanation, so Maddy Pryor might not do), but nice.

@Kockie - Well seeing how Black Tom Cassidy is Irish, and the X3 JuggerNOT was clearly British, I'd think it would be doable.

I think the reason Reynolds is so happy about this opportunity is because he's got nothing else to do. Is he really genuinely excited about this role or is he putting up a front cause he knows this is the only thing he's got going for him. Just something to ponder about.

fox does not care what ryan likes or dislikes. they will put whoever they choose in it and mess up the characters any way they see fit.

@Grif, Yep, your right. Sad, but very true. Fox could cast Michael Phelps as Wade and have "Deadpool" actually be a swimming movie, for all they care.

I am going to pretend that DeadPool didnt suck in that last movie and say... it would be sooo cool to see a Deadpool Cable movie! I also wish there was an ongoing Predator vs. Aliens Anime that featured Space Marines and went on and on like Bleach does! Gosh i feel like i would kill to see that. Oh and Ryan Reynolds used to be one of my Favorite actors until i saw him in Wolverine : Snorigins. I dont believe actors any more when they say they love the character and want to bring them to life, since that movie.

Its all about $ to the BIG WIGS. They do provide the $ies for it though, I will give it that much.

X-Man is my favorite character, But Cable is the next best thing but difficult to pull off. I would pick Malcolm McDowell if he was younger to play CABLE.

grif: I disagree, just on the basis that they've allowed him to run around Hollywood for months, obviously self-promoting his role in the upcoming film. Normally, with a Fox property, I would do anything BUT disagree with you on this. lol
Besides, if your likeness were to be placed into a comic property's continuity/mythology, you would be amped to want to play that character too! So, given that, I'm more inclined to beleive his enthusiasm for the role.

I hope they start smart, and introduce Tolliver ("Genesis") as the main antagonist, Dr. Killebrew as the Hospice Director, Ajax as the muscle, Copycat as the love interest (this kind of comedic/action story ACTUALLY suits a love interest, given its heavy comedic undertones), and a $#it load of cameo's!
(*When Deadpool goes to the "Hospice" you could easily throw in characters like: Kane, Reaper, Wild Child, Mastadon, Mesmero, Sauron, Slayback, Sluggo, Washout, etc.)

Can't fanboys just be happy for once that someone is FINALLY taking a character as seriously as we want them to? That statement didn't even make sense, he's working on two movies slated to come out before Deadpool. I wouldn't be surprised if that number doubles by next year, since he's such a talented and versatile actor.

Ryan Reynolds could be the next Hugh Jackman, in a comic book movie aspect! Let's hope for that!

Oh, yeah... And I hope they DON"T showcase Cable in the (first) Deadpool movie! He would completely overshadow the title character, and would be better suited to a starring vehicle of his own, or a "Cable/Deadpool" movie (a la: "AVP" style).
Just my opinion.

i aint a huge deadpool fan like some, i must say though a solo film of his DONE WELL sounds very promising, BLACK TOM needs to be in the first cause he went up against deadpool first i believe. I could see REYNOLDS philoophy where "its deadpool we could have alot of villians" because he his THE MERC WITH A MOUTH ya know? AJAX im confused about though is it a good pick? BULLSEYE would be awesome! but doesnt another studio own his and DAREDEVIL's rights (i could be wrong)? CABLE would of course would be awesome to see but i would think they'd set-up the character in this one to play a major role in 2 since 2 is always the best in a trilogy. but if PUNISHER cant survive the box office can DEADPOOL? i know he's got a healing factor but geez...i remain a skeptic i guess

there won't be an X4 - not for a very, very, very long time dude. Wolverine is gonna have another solo movie and that'll take more than 3 years - and then they're doing a first class movie - which is another prequel - plus all these other spinoffs. face it - the trilogy is IT.

The main Xmen movie storyline is done man - we can all deal with spinoffs for the next 10 years. And to be honest - I'm perfectly fine with that - so throw Cable in the Deadpool movie and let's do this.

Why do they movie makers always think that if they introduce a character his entire history has to be told. JUst put cable in there, give us a tidbit of backstory, and then continue with the rest of the film. You dont have to explain why he prefers coke over pepsi. Leave the chunk of his "origin" for sequels or his own film.

That's what they do in comics anyway. Enter: Cable, the foeiest foe that ever foed! Then when they can think of some motivation and history, they enlighten us with some more issues and we think they're geniuses. That is a formula hollywood SHOULD be familiar with, tv is. (LOST)

Cable is one of my favorite marvels.. He's good enough to have his own movie, if they want movie-mergers then that's a good idea for Cable to have a part in Deadpool.

if they dont, its not really a deadpool movie, its a reynolds fighting with swords movie

Cable would overshadow Deadpool and take up too much screen time for a first movie so of course Fox will have him in it. The same way everyone only talked about Deadpool before Wolverine came out and the way everyone I know wanted to go see Silver Surfer (no one called it FF2).

Gentlemen If the studios had any brains at all they would clearly see that DeadPool is very unique oportunity to cash in on the mouth that deadpool is and keep the story true to the source material. I'm not saying funny ha ha ha slapstick I'm saying all the BS that comes out of DeadPools mouth while hes in a fight or on pursuit.
It would be great to see a balance between a very funny, witty and sarcastic Deadpool and an ass-load of action.
You cant do that with Wolverine because lets face it Wolverine is an Asshole, Batman is another asshole and has no sense of humor that why you have the joker, Superman is too much of a boyscout and spiderman is way to damn nerdy.
Captain America is another boyscout, the Hulk as the early versions of the hulk he can barely formulate sentences. Ironman is too much of drunken skirt hound and who wants to hear a Scandanavian Thor tell jokes....he would sound like a drunk Schwartzenegger and that looks funny but it sounds terrible.

Deadpool is perfect to be a big mouth character like Bill Murrays Peter Venkman who's funny dry witty and doesnt know when to shut up.

Now if they can only write a script that can give us the mouth that we all know deadpool is and that sticks to the source material I think we would then have one hell of a blockbuster movie.........a movie where we can take our girlfriends and wives who arent into comic books but they do love a comedy.

Ron Peralman as Cable he can definetly pull it off hes got the height, grey hair and the acting chops he also has that great deep voice which would perfect for cable.

Yo somebody out there photoshop Ron Pearlmans face a la Cable. I would do it but I dont know how to use photo shop.

Pearlman is already Hellboy. You can't have one actor play two Marvel characters. That would be lame. However, I do agree about an X-Force or future X-Men movie.

Cable is a tough casting call. I went searching around to see if anyone was talking about it. I heard 3 suggestions that might be ok. Clive Owen, Neal McDonough, and Sean Bean. But they are kind of a stretch for me...

Personally, I would love to see Adrian Pasdar get casted for Cable! He plays Nathan Petrelli on the "Heroes" TV show.

Tossing in Cable is already cramming too much in when the story already will be jammed with re-capping what happen to him in XO:Wolverine and telling his own back story there won't be adequate room to explain Cable with any justice. Also, if Cable shows up they'll most likely take massive liberties with the character and scratch out that whole Cyclops and Jean Gray kid sent to the future for a cure who is destined to take down Apocalypse thing. He'll be turned into just another mutant. Also he's a good guy. If the audience is going to root for Deadpool he can't go around kicking the crap out of the good guys. It'll have to be the lesser of two evils type of situation.
If they use Black Tom, I'm certain they'll get someone who doesn't have an accent or they have them do a lame exaggerated accent like T.J.Storm did as Maginty in Punisher:War Zone.
They should use more obscure villains, it'll give them more breathing room for screwing the character up and, somewhat, getting away with it.

Either way FOX will mess it up.

Ha lol, just think about it, the whole Cable thing is completely out of the window anyway becuase both Jean Grey and Scott Summers are both dead, well at least presumed dead at the moment even though we never saw Scott die, we are lead to believe he is dead, we know Jean continues to come back but they would have to explain that all in one hour and a half dead pool spinoff, I don't think so:P Only way they could introduce cable is if they screw up all of his Origins and make him the product of Storm and Wolverine, I don't think you hardcore comic book fans want that at all, so I suggest you all be careful what ya wish for. Okay rant over:P

Well actors are suppose to play many characters in their carreers thats why they are called actors.

No no no Harrison Ford can not be Indiana Jones because he was already Han Solo in 3 of George Lucas's films C' mon dude.

I hate to say it but Pearlman would make an awesome Cable and Neal McDonough would also look the part but I hate to say it hes so short he wouldnt have a problem in the next LOTR The Hobbit.

cable is too big a character to be thrown in as a bonus in a deadpool movie. in order for cable to properly be set up for his own movie, there would have to be an xmen 4, one with sinister where cyclops and jean arent both already dead...looks like we cant really count on cable film then :/

i doubt it would even happen, but if they did do a deadpool-cable crossover, they should wait until both characters get their own movies first.

Are we forggeting T Ray here? Yea he was a worthless villian that tried to hurt Deadpool by trying to steal mercedes and not to mention that t ray is also mercedes husband. well if its flashbaking then they should put when t ray reveled himself to be mercedes husband, and leaving deadpool emotionoly inept.
