The latest interview from Empire's traditional spoiler podcast is with none other than James Gunn, co-writer and director of Marvel Studios' latest smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy. From the Collector's collection to baby Groot dancing to Jackson 5, Gunn offers some interesting behind-the-scenes info. "There is the Slither creatures from my movie Slither behind the Collector; those guys are pretty obvious," said Gunn when asked to give a guide to The Collector's museum. "You have Adam Warlock's cocoon. You have all sorts of characters from other Marvel movies; a Dark Elf back there, who's played by Doug Jones, one of our stunt guys." While the Collector's Museum is left in ruins in Guardians thanks to the Orb, Gunn hints how the character may have more items in the 2017 sequel. "I will say that is probably not the Collector's only museum," he said. "I think he probably has other spaces in which he keeps his incredibly vast selection. That's just his Knowhere wing [in the movie]."

About baby Groot dancing right before the credits roll, James Gunn says that was his idea and that it was also in the script. "Litte spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me," the director revealed. "I'm not motion-captured, but I'm motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing... Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like 'We don't want people walking out and missing this this,' so we put it right there after the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return' thing." About that title card, which Marvel Studios usually puts after the credits, Gunn says that is pure Kevin Feige. "He has balls of steel. Honestly, the way that came about is we had the spaceship fly off [at the end of the movie], 'I Want You Back' the Jackson 5 song starts at a certain time, and the Groot dance started at a specific time of the 'I Want You Back' song. And if we put Groot dancing at the very end in the place we wanted to put it, there was a space there before the song went to the right place [for Groot]." That's where Feige reminded audiences the Guardians will return. Be sure to listen to the full interview where Gunn reveals things that didn't make the cut and more.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

Gusto is the VD collector. FACT.

I know this would sound pretty weird...but I want Howard the Duck in a Marvel One Shot. That would be HILARIOUS!
MrCBM56 - 8/4/2014, 11:06 AM
\

He's definitely in GOTG 2.
MrMartinMarvel - 8/4/2014, 11:09 AM
So that WAS Adam Warlock's cocoon?
DaVinci31 - 8/4/2014, 11:09 AM
GOTG in a nutshell:

blackandyellow - 8/4/2014, 11:09 AM
So who did Nathan Fillion end up playing?
EzioKenway1225 - 8/4/2014, 11:11 AM
i hope we get Adam Warlock..i dont know much about the character but from a visual standpoint.. he looks awesome
pesmerga44 - 8/4/2014, 11:11 AM
@blackandyellow

Supposedly he was the blue alien that Groot beats up in the prison when they first get there and Rocket tells everyone that Quill was their bounty.
blackandyellow - 8/4/2014, 11:13 AM
Word. Thanks, pesmerga.
ChowdaHead - 8/4/2014, 11:18 AM
How much u wanna bet if we get warlock that he gets underpowered.
FerFogs - 8/4/2014, 11:19 AM
ADAM.

[frick]ING.

WARLOCK.

Yes. He'll [frick] Thanos up along with Dr. Strange.
Phronesis - 8/4/2014, 11:20 AM
I guess in Guardians we can expect High and the Universal Church of Truth?
batz11 - 8/4/2014, 11:23 AM
Yep, Fillion was the huge blue alien in prison, Seth Green was Howard...
IronMountaineer - 8/4/2014, 11:26 AM
Yeah, that makes sense that the collector would have a couple museums. I wonder if in the sequel, since the infinity stone frisked up Knowhere, if the collector gives it up, the Guardians take it over, and Cosmo stays!
ckal - 8/4/2014, 11:26 AM
@phronesis Why would Fox own Adam Warlock?

@chowdahead Every character has been under powered so that's not exactly a revelation.

Personally I am curious, if they do go for Adam Warlock, which version? The old school with the yellow cape? Or the modern look pictured above?

Adam's reemergence during Annihilation Conquest as a 'Quantum Mage' was pretty bad ass. I wouldn't mind if they went that route, or combined the two version and melded them together.
MercSoul - 8/4/2014, 11:27 AM
its me...or in the after credits...

the cocoon is open?

yossarian - 8/4/2014, 11:27 AM
@B&Y - I don't think there was any possible way of telling that it was him either.
GodzillaKart - 8/4/2014, 11:27 AM
Am I to understand that Pasto does not like spiders?
Jhuntdaprodigy - 8/4/2014, 11:28 AM
That little Groot scene got one of the best laughs at the screening I went to, my little sister, whose never heard of GOTG in her life, even said Groot was her favorite character, so I guessed that proved that the general audience would be highly receptive to a talking tree and raccoon. There's so many ways Gunn could go with the Guardians sequel character wise: Warlock, The Eternals, The Universal Church Of Truth, Korvac, The Watcher, Richard Rider, etc. I really can't wait to see what direction Gunn takes it in.
ckal - 8/4/2014, 11:28 AM
@ferfogs

If Thanos is going to be the main villain in Avengers 3, Marvel HAS to start introducing this supremely powerful characters. As it currently stands, Thanos will absolutely wipe the floor and murder this team of Avengers. Especially since Thor is so under powered.

They'll need characters like Doctor Strange, Adam Warlock, Quasar, Nova, etc. for them to stand a chance.
ckal - 8/4/2014, 11:30 AM
Silver Surfer would have been a must if not for god damn Fox. Also would be bad ass to see Gladiator and Ronan as a 'good guy' like he was as a member of the Annihilators if he wasn't killed off (if he doesn't come back).
Floke - 8/4/2014, 11:32 AM
BatManiac - 8/4/2014, 11:36 AM
I'm so happy it IS Adam Warlock's cocoon! I hope he's in the sequel.
TheAmbassador - 8/4/2014, 11:37 AM

Korvac too?
IronMountaineer - 8/4/2014, 11:40 AM
So can anyone actually confirm an opened caccoon? Cause I didn't catch it.
BatManiac - 8/4/2014, 11:41 AM
I'd love too see an Adam Warlock movie too. It would be cool seeing the same actor play Adam Warlock & Magus.
JusticePourTous - 8/4/2014, 11:43 AM
So close to TWS's $96.2m! Absolutely incredible opening, especially for the first in a franchise. I remember saying that people who thought this could get over $100mil were delusional, and I was very very close to having to eat those words.

Marvel are unstoppable.
IronMountaineer - 8/4/2014, 11:45 AM
@ckal I gotta disagree on that. I mean we don't know what direction they're taking this all in, but most likely Thanos will be the villain of Avengers 3, but that doesn't mean they have to just keep introducing characters to take him down. This isn't the comics, so most likely the story will differ.
CaptainAmerica31 - 8/4/2014, 11:45 AM
Loved GOTG so awesome, my favorite MCU movie and the more I think about it the more I like it. Third favorite movie this year, it escalated
FerFogs - 8/4/2014, 11:49 AM
@ckal - true that. That's why I'm wondering if they'll really have Thanos in A3 or have a specific (maybe a series) of Infinity Gauntlet movie.

@batz11 - Oh, that reminds me of something...

Hey, @CavEl !!!!

CaptainAmerica31 - 8/4/2014, 11:50 AM
I think the marvel brand is so recognizable now that anything is guaranteed major money
ckal - 8/4/2014, 11:51 AM
@ironmountaineer

Considering Korath straight up said Thanos is THE MOST powerful being in the universe in Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel is definitely going to have to introduce more incredibly powerful characters.

Because as it stands right now, Hulk or Thor are the most powerful, and that's pretty pathetic comparatively.
BatManiac - 8/4/2014, 11:52 AM
I'm getting pissed off about Fox having the rights to Fantastic Four now. I'd love to see an Infinity War movie after Infinity Gauntlet, but it wouldn't feel right without Galactus & Doctor Doom.

[frick] you Fox!

batz11 - 8/4/2014, 11:52 AM
LMAO Fer! Watch out though, B&Y doesn't like those who screen grab lol...but you had specific instructions!
FerFogs - 8/4/2014, 11:53 AM
@BatManiac - Impossoble to see the Celestial wiping that planet and not to think what Galactus could be in the MCU... :´(
ckal - 8/4/2014, 11:53 AM
@ferfogs

LMAO! I actually specifically remember seeing that exchange in the original article too. Glad you kept it.

Also I literally just thought the same thing about Thanos and his role in the MCU. He may not actually be the main villain in the Avengers but a series of Infinity Gauntlet movies. Who knows, after A3 maybe Marvel gives the Avengers a break for 5 or 6 years and instead does Infinity.
FerFogs - 8/4/2014, 11:56 AM
@batz11 - Yes! It was a challenge.
