UPDATE: IRON MAN 3 Set Reports & Photos From Latest Shoot

Nothing too exclusive underway, but filming for Iron Man 3 has picked up at North Carolina's New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and reportedly renamed it to fit the L.A. setting of the film. In addition to photos, reports via Twitter and Comic Book indicate that this shoot, and ones upcoming, will involve Tony Stark's "isolation" in the Shane Black-directed threequel. Be sure to check back for minor updates as filming continues.

Our source tells us that current shooting sees a return to that lonely hero, as the current filming location, the small, rural town of Rose Hill, North Carolina, has been featuring Tony Stark alone and is set up for a multi-week shoot. Robert Downey Jr. is the only star on site at this time, & a bar and a diner have been constructed in old storefronts in the town, and a lot of filming is to take place in the bar, according to our source.

UPDATE: According to people on the scene, Gwyneth Paltrow appears to be inside, while a stunt double for Robert Downey, Jr. is outside the building doing some shooting. There are apparently a lot of guys in suits, though, suggesting a connection either to the Secret Service who reportedly were in earlier scenes.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, ~~Andy Lau~~, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

The Bleeding Edge is a decent design but like Ha1frican said, if it comes out of his skin it'll be too much. Maybe just an advanced and perfected version of his Avengers tracking system.

Perhaps even a suit in a sattelite that tracks his movement across the globe and is ready to rocket a suit down to him at the push of a button. While far fetched, it's much better than a suit in his skin. It also adds to the danger element as he needs to wait for his suit to arrive (even just for a minute or two) rather than having it there instantly.

Yeah, I agree that i don't want the armor to come out of his skin. That'd be a bit too much. I don't want it to go any further than a more advanced tracking system like in Avengers.

I'm excited for Iron Man 3 but if it's RDJ's last hurrah, it's going to be bittersweet.

Now that the MCU is moving more and more cosmic, I'm assuming that Iron Man will take a bit of a back seat to Thor and the Gaurdians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange, and will be popping up here and there as a cameo?

I trust Marvel though, so they can guarantee my ass in a movie theater seat.
