Has Jaimie Alexander's SIF Role Been Slightly Reduced In THOR: THE DARK WORLD?

UPDATED | Due to the actress' injury while on-set of Thor: The Dark World, Jaimie Alexander's role as the Goddess of War, Lady Sif, may have been cut out of a few scenes being filmed for the sequel!

Moving the production from England to Iceland recently, filming for Thor: The Dark World picked up today in the Nordic island country. And Twitter has revealed the presence of actors Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Zachary Levi. However, the shoot's inclusion of Lady Sif actress Jaimie Alexander isn't expected, even though the Marvel sequel's script may have entailed it; initially.

Alexander, 28, revealed on Twitter last month that she sustained quite an injury while on The Dark World set, escaping almost becoming paralyzed. And now, despite the actress periodically tweeting her speedy recovery, the injury has possibly caused Lady Sif to be written out of scenes that're currently being filmed in Iceland. Iceland visitor Aimee Hood-Strode, @iambatsandbows of Twitter, stumbled across the set today (she provided pictures below) at one of island's biggest waterfalls, Skógarfoss, where she found out that:

UPDATE: The lovely actress has chimed in on what's being reported, recently tweeting:

Jaimie Alexander isn't exactly a new girl, considering she's reprising the Goddess of War role from Marvel's first Thor movie. Although, that's likely who Aimee Hood-Strode is referring to. The nature of the scenes that're being filmed in Iceland is unknown, however, when you consider the aforementioned cast members that're present and the number of scenic areas that'll be used, the sequences are likely pivotal. What do you think?

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962.

“Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Is Phase 2 cursed? Is that it?
OdinsBeard - 10/12/2012, 5:07 PM
damn that really sucks for her. was looking forward to some more Sif/Thor interaction. felt like we were robbed of it a bit in the first.
Illcommunicatione - 10/12/2012, 5:11 PM
Less scenes = less clothes...

you know it makes sense.
DioFoRio - 10/12/2012, 5:14 PM

lokibane2012 - 10/12/2012, 5:42 PM
lol for one moment I thought the title said that her role would be even less than in Thor. And I thought: what? Are they gonna cut her out completely?

Lol, lame character. Same goes of Dennings. The less I see of her character the better.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 10/12/2012, 5:43 PM
Hope she's doing okay and recovering. I just hope for more Sif in this film. She's too beautiful a woman to have her role reduced.

Get well soon, Jaimie. :)
SkinnyOne - 10/12/2012, 5:47 PM
I hope not, she's my favorite part of the Thor movies
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 10/12/2012, 5:47 PM

@Avengers Not to be rude, but I don't report users for being ignorant, I just delete their comments. I'm sure I don't have to write "take with a grain of salt" for people to do so. I made the headline a question for a reason.

The girl who told me this is not involved with the movie in any kind of way. Like I said in the article, she went to the set in Iceland, where someone there told her this.
GLprime2814 - 10/12/2012, 6:01 PM
Aw man I hope it's not true I love sif in the comics, and was cast perfectly.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 10/12/2012, 6:01 PM
reduced? She was hardly in the first one.
Jordanstine - 10/12/2012, 6:02 PM

Tainted87 - 10/12/2012, 6:25 PM
She's got awesome eyebrows.
drwalle - 10/12/2012, 6:26 PM

Hey Grif,

Love ya dog, always have, but who needs YOU when I can stick my head in the toilet?

Simon
BasedThanos - 10/12/2012, 7:34 PM
I'm glad her role isn't getting reduced (it was reduced enough in the first Thor.) I want to see more Sif in TDW.
@HalloweenJack, no I am sorry :P
DrDoom - 10/12/2012, 7:34 PM
Not going to happen. She'll be fine, kids.
TheAbomination - 10/12/2012, 7:36 PM
I wish Kat Dennings role was reduced to zero percent.
JayJayCAW - 10/12/2012, 7:45 PM
happy to hear that this is not the case, she was actually my favorite part from THOR lol
superpooper - 10/12/2012, 7:50 PM
She needs to show more skin and then I'll care
AlexRival - 10/12/2012, 9:33 PM
Kat Dennings makes me want to puke.
HeadPool420 - 10/12/2012, 10:20 PM
Kat Dennings breast make my penis wanna puke! :)
DarkArts - 10/12/2012, 10:35 PM
How did that rumor even get legs? With green screening and CGI her scenes can be shot later. The only way the injury wouldve stopped her is if she couldnt recover in time.
DarkArts - 10/12/2012, 10:51 PM
What's with the Kat Jennings hate?
Have we got some little boys here that think girls are all yucky or what?
She's cute.
SugarYumYum - 10/12/2012, 11:09 PM
Does every T:TDW comment section have to be mostly dedicated to expressing how annoying Dennings is? Like, seriously EVERY Thor comment section. It's leagues more annoying then she (apparently) is, I personally had no problem with her.
LordKhorne - 10/13/2012, 1:18 AM
what's with the Kat Dennings hate? because she isn't attractive that's why. Her lips are as big as her breasts and considering I believe the majority of the fanboys she has is because of her breasts... yeah.

I'll take Jaimie over Kat any day of the week.
Theunderdog - 10/13/2012, 1:38 AM
I wish her well I hope she recover from the injury and come back soon to role cause I was expecting fling between thorn and sif in this one
M6 - 10/13/2012, 2:00 AM
No, I wanted more Sif in the sequel!!
