During filming of Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World last year, Total Film visited the Asgard sets of the Alan Taylor-directed sequel in the U.K., where executive producer & Marvel Comics writer, Craig Kyle, showed them concept art and storyboards. “It’s The Empire Strikes Back,” Kyle said. “We’re travelling further out into the other worlds of the Thor saga – the further out we go the further in we have to go with the character. We spent a lot of time in the first film in the palace. This time, we are going to see where the people live and where the pubs are!” Furthermore, Craig Kyle confirmed that Thor: The Dark World will explore “Valhalla drinking dens and training centres, Vanaheim, Svartalfheim,” and get a good idea of where the two latter realms fit into the universe, which is “tilting into mayhem thanks to a busted bifrost bridge which allows new baddies, the marauders, to get a toehold in Thor’s kingdom.” Craig said, “The nice thing that Avengers did for us – besides make a lot of money – was [that it] dropped this bomb in the Marvel cinema universe and affected all of our characters in a huge way. The big event takes place and draws everybody out of their own BS, and then they have to go back to their own problems again.”

Meanwhile, Lady Sif actress Jaimie Alexander was speaking recently with Fandango, when she, too, boasted about Thor: The Dark World exploring more realms and Asgardian life. “We do get to see a lot more of the Asgardian lifestyle, and the daily lives of the warriors and that sort of thing…. It’s really as gorgeous as it was in the first movie. You get to see what it’s like when they celebrate after a victory and how much they all love each other so much, and how they’ve known each other their entire lives – all the Warriors Three, Thor, the king, the queen, everybody. So it’s really fun to see how they are with each other, and how actually, how similar it is to Earth: the way they treat each other, where they go to celebrate, what they do.” Recounting about the love triangle between Sif, Thor and Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander added that, “There are scenes with Natalie and I, even when other characters aren’t around, and she’s a blast to work with!”

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

Can we see Sif's bedroom/panty drawer?
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 5/11/2013, 1:24 AM
SWEET!!!!

Can't wait for Thor.

It seems Marvel is doing this very curiously...

Iron Man 3 - Perfect introduction, sets up a basis.
Thor: The Dark World - Obliterates it's pedigree, upstages Iron Man 3 significantly. Also very brutal and risk-taking.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The best to date. The culmination of Marvel Studios. Conspiracy, action, suspense and drama. The best of Phase II.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The newcomer. The space epic that re-invents the genre and brings in a flock of new audiences.

Avengers 2 - The finale. The big bang. The knot to the ties that bind. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the ultimatum of heroism vs. villainy.

@Roland, hahahahaha nice
CoolantTech - 5/11/2013, 1:52 AM
Great find, the Mcu's really heating up now I can see that all of the phase 2 films will be more complex than the phase one films, but I also think that each move should have some type of subtle thread connecting the events from one movie to the next no matter how wildly different in tone the movies are from one another
CoolantTech - 5/11/2013, 1:55 AM
Nice to hear that Extremis will be making a return into the MCU as well at some point.. I don't know mabye Cap 2, or Avengers 2?
Kayo - 5/11/2013, 2:11 AM
this movie is going to be amazing.

Phase 2 baby!!!
inkslinger616 - 5/11/2013, 2:58 AM
I believe Extremis beings it is a product of A.I.M will show up in the Ant-Man flick something tells me Mr.Pym will derive his growth formula from Extremis/A.I.M tech and maybe lead up to M.O.D.O.K that would be awesome

marvel72 - 5/11/2013, 4:21 AM
this sounds so much better then the first & i thought the first one was good.

vanaheim (masters of sorcery & magic, frigga came from there & taught odin the secrets of magic)

svartalfheim (wooded home of the dark elves)

i hope we visit muspelheim (home of surtur)
BennyFromTheBronx - 5/11/2013, 5:41 AM
This movie better be good and not be THOR: THE DARK TURD

"I gave you my word... I would return."

Best moment in the trailer
Ace101 - 5/11/2013, 5:56 AM
This movie is going to be so much better than the first and i loved the first one. I hope frigga uses her magic skills in this movie, like @marvel72 said she taught odin the secrets of magic. I too hope to see muspelheim, but i think we will see that nidaveleir in thor 3. I hope to the one above all that the Post credit scene is either of surtur forging the twilight sword or skuttlebut flying from a supernova.

Those photos are great, and captions are hilarious!
rocky - 5/11/2013, 6:48 AM
Btwe guys nice work with the funny captions too

Loved the first film but admit it was a little too tame for THOR, Marvel's greatest hero.

Yeah superexcited for this
Floke - 5/11/2013, 7:15 AM
Yeah!!! Let's party norse-style!

WYLEEJAY - 5/11/2013, 7:17 AM
I know Sif was talking about sacrifice, but I have a feeling Jane is the one that's gonna bite it. Portmans just gonna cause problems for Marvel again if they keep her around. Would make more sense for them to kill her off so they don't have to force her contract again.
MrReese - 5/11/2013, 7:47 AM
sounds great.
KeefNCookies - 5/11/2013, 7:57 AM
Cant wait for have this wash out the sour taste of IM3. I really hope they do #3 with Surtur.
SageMode - 5/11/2013, 8:20 AM
I hope the exploration of the Nine Realms isn't too brief. If Surtur shows up, I'm gonna lose my marbles. This sounds promising. Can't wait to see it.....

Omarvls - 5/11/2013, 8:24 AM
When I heard Marvel was going to do a Thor movie I thought the hardest thing would be his costume instead for
Thor Dark World it is probably the best ComicBookMovie costume of all time
TheAbomination - 5/11/2013, 8:25 AM
Can't wait.
AlanWarlock - 5/11/2013, 8:30 AM
Kat Dennings returns. 'Nuff said.
marvel72 - 5/11/2013, 8:43 AM
@ Omarvls

i agree with the costume being great,i don't know about the best of all time.

-iron man suit (iron man trilogy & the avengers)
-batman suit (batman begins)
-rorschach (watchmen)
-spider-man (spider-man trilogy & the amazing spider-man 2)
exe - 5/11/2013, 8:53 AM
I really hope this doesn't suck like Iron Turd 3.
Minato - 5/11/2013, 9:03 AM
I want to see Thor at the table with Odin and the Warriors Three throw down a gauntlet and ask for another serving of ale. IDK why they did that in the first movie (it was funny) but does Thor really have that bad of table manners?
Godzillafart - 5/11/2013, 10:15 AM
Looking forward to it. I don't really know what to expect. Average Marvel fun or great film.

IM3 surprised me by being so much better than I expected. Marvel's 2nd best in my book.
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 5/11/2013, 10:50 AM
this movie is gonna shit on IM3
Jwe75 - 5/11/2013, 11:20 AM
This movie looks more and more promising. Odin son will show you the real power! Malekith is perfect and believe me Eccelston in one scary mf to play this kind of role. I wanna see round 3 with Thor and Loki. I put my money for Jane's death and Thor going full God rage after that. Those pics are perfect!
mdwilliamson24 - 5/11/2013, 11:41 AM
2013- will go down as...The year of the Red Capes!
Man of Steel and Thor will both own.
IM3- was okay, but a bit of a let down.
Wolvie- still not sold, but might be good.

Looking forward to more Thor stuff later this summer.
I imagine a new trailer for SDCC and for it to play in front of Wolverine.
WhiteBolt - 5/11/2013, 3:44 PM
Valhalla in Thor:TDW? CBM of the year, folks!
CaptainRedFurySpain - 5/11/2013, 7:30 PM
I loved IM3 so much, so I'm really hyped about T:TDW!

The Bifrost is still broken after Thor 1?

Thor is clearly still able to teleport in the trailer, I bet he has unlocked new powers from Mjolnir. (Or maybe hes got the Odin Power)
