Speaking at a Television Critics Association press tour, J.J. Abrams discussed Star Wars: Episode VII, and the countless rumors surrounding the highly-anticipated production. “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep,” says the director. “Full steam ahead, y’know.” According to Collider, he then confirmed that Jesse Plemons is in fact among the many actors he's talked with, despite the Breaking Bad star declaring his involvement only a rumor.

“He is one of the actors that we’ve talked to, yeah,” Abrams says. “It’s not often that I read about actors that I’m going to be meeting. I get to read articles about actors who were going to come in, so I get to see someone and say, “Oh, I read that I was going to see you. It’s very nice to see you.” It’s usually agents talking to people about what’s happening. It’s just a lot of noise.” When asked whether he'd like to shoot Episode VII in IMAX, the director replied: “In the right situation, I’d like to use IMAX again. The problem with IMAX is that it’s a very loud camera. It’s a very unreliable camera. Only so much film can be in the camera. You can’t really do intimate scenes with it. It’s slow. They break down often. Having said that, they’re working on digital versions of that, so there may be a version one day. But, we’re going to be shooting this next movie on film.”

J.J. Abrams was then asked to share the craziest Star Wars: Episode VII rumor he has heard so far. “There’ve been so many of them,” he said. “It’s amazing to see how many there are. … But it’s sweet because it shows that there’s an interest in this movie that we all obviously know is there. But it is an incredible thing to see how many incredible things get thrown out that people then write commentaries about. How happy they are, how disappointed they are about something that is completely false. It’s a lot of noise, frankly.” What do you think?

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to start filming in spring, and release on December 18, 2015.

Hope we get something official regarding this movie soon...anything, a title, some sort of casting, even confirmation that the original three are back at least...
PurpleHelmetWarrior - 1/19/2014, 1:13 PM
Bitch please...not sure about that Jesse dude...if it was Aaron Paul, that "Jessie" would be fine by me, think he did an incredible job on Breaking Bad...
Bloodraven - 1/19/2014, 1:15 PM
Shut up, Grif.
Prime - 1/19/2014, 1:15 PM
So...when are we gonna hear who is gonna be in it?
Prime - 1/19/2014, 1:15 PM
Some [frick]ing confirmation would be appreciated.
Ignition - 1/19/2014, 1:16 PM
Plemons denied this on camera less than 24 hours ago. Time to stop making actor denials into stories.

I'm looking forward to all 2015 movies but I honestly feel that this film is going to be the winner of summer 2015.

@Ignition LOL actor denies it always means it's not true, especially when body language doesn't match the words being said
ManDeth - 1/19/2014, 1:30 PM
Abrams is the guy who crapped on Star Trek. Now he gets to crap on Star Wars.
technodrome518 - 1/19/2014, 1:33 PM
Give us something here! We have no idea about a story. We can barely pick sure fire lead actors. We need a teaser trailer or a title to the movie. Meesa Jah, Jah want information.

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/19/2014, 1:35 PM
Don't care about Star Wars anymore
sameoldthing - 1/19/2014, 1:35 PM
Don't get it.
Plemons is an ok actor but seems to have limited range.
He doesn't seem capable or fitting of the Star Wars universe.
He may surprise me,hope he ends up a villan.
pointman - 1/19/2014, 1:37 PM
I Didn't like Abrams star trek. I liked it when I saw it in the theater, but having watched it a few times, it is like his audition tape for star wars. I think he may be better suited for that. George DOES need to be there to hold his hand. And yes I know that he isn't popular right now, but I have faith in ol George.
Minty - 1/19/2014, 1:38 PM
@TheBlackNerd - Well it's gonna have to have one bloody good trailer then if its gonna be the best thing in Summer 2015 - the film comes out in December :P

This is the movie I'm looking forward to the most now in 2015, too bad it comes out at the end of the god damn year :^(
Timerider84 - 1/19/2014, 1:40 PM
I would rather have J.J. than stupid George Lucas, he should have hired Lawrence Kasdan for the Prequels. At least Star Wars will be fun and mysterious again. Good job so far, I'm happy.
beane2099 - 1/19/2014, 1:42 PM
@Grif If being a comic fan was part of DC's emotional spectrum you would be it's avatar. There'd be Ophidian, The Butcher, Parallax, Ion, Adara, Proselyte, the Predator, Blackhand, the Entity, and Grif.
Timerider84 - 1/19/2014, 1:42 PM
Teaser trailer at the end of this year, nice Christmas present.
beane2099 - 1/19/2014, 1:43 PM
I mean that as respectfully as one can in making such a comment.
CherryBomb - 1/19/2014, 1:46 PM
They were fools to not cast Saoirse Ronan.
staypuffed - 1/19/2014, 1:48 PM
C'mon, JJ, give us some real info.
MrCBM56 - 1/19/2014, 1:48 PM
CherryBomb

She spoke WAY too much about her audition.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/19/2014, 1:49 PM
For a Sunday, this is pretty good news
Klone - 1/19/2014, 1:52 PM
I saw this fan video suggesting what should be done for Episode 7 and how it has relevance to all the previous 6 films and how it caps off the entire mythos with something deeper than a basic "GUD VS EVAL" storyline where the Jedi win... I reckon that man's concept will be superior to Abram's script. I would bet money on it.
Archang3ll - 1/19/2014, 1:53 PM
I LOVED J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movies so I have no doubts that I will like his Star Wars stuff too. Boy, it's some but-hurt people on this web-site. I am soooo glad fanboys (yes me included) don't get to make policy. We wouldn't have any movies. That or Guillermo del Toro and Christopher Nolan would be the only directors of CBMs if it were up to bitchy & whiny fanboys.

My bigger concern is Disney's handling of the Star Wars license itself.
Brady1138 - 1/19/2014, 1:55 PM
Good to know most ridiculous rumors out there (mostly from Latino Review, I'd guess) are generally being shot down.
Prime - 1/19/2014, 1:57 PM
Give the rights back to Marvel J J.
ekrolo2 - 1/19/2014, 1:57 PM
This decades Superman Returns, big homage to the old movies and not much else.
gaikinger - 1/19/2014, 1:58 PM
Cant wait!
DrunkenNukem - 1/19/2014, 1:58 PM
Lol...looks like someone has readed our comments here...
TheCoonII - 1/19/2014, 2:02 PM
If the script is done whats the title?
DrunkenNukem - 1/19/2014, 2:07 PM
in other news...jeez...Manning it´s killing it...New England it´s done
gambgel - 1/19/2014, 2:09 PM
there he said it: most rumours are just agents throwing it out there, and just noise.

And this is probably what is happening with Warner's JL or Superman/Batman movie.
