While premiering his new zombie movie Life After Beth at last week's Sundance Film Festival, actor John C. Reilly, who plays Rhomann Dey in Guardians of the Galaxy, talked briefly about his role in the forthcoming Marvel film. “Oh, it's great... I got to be in London,” he told Flicks And The City when they asked about filming the James Gunn-directed adaptation. “Other than that, I think Marvel would put me in handcuffs if I say another single word about it.” The interviewer then pressed Reilly a little further for details on Guardians of the Galaxy by asking what it was like working with the actors in their alien makeup, versus seeing them on-set out of costume. “Well, it's funny... I've played characters that had extreme looks before too, and I think what happens with actors is that [they] just forget,” said John Reilly. “You just forget what's on your face because you're just looking out through your eyes of course. Working with Zoe [Saldana] - I only met her one time when she wasn't the color green - I think, on the last day, and I was like 'You're beautiful' and she was like 'thanks.'" Before he officially signed on, it was reported that John C. Reilly's role as Nova Corps officer Rhomann Dey will be “designed as the Agent Coulson of the Guardians movies” and he'll be the “primary face of normal humanity.” What do you think?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

After the SB trailers, I'm more than ready for some raccoon action. Any time now Gunn.
mgeoff88 - 2/3/2014, 5:59 AM
I'm disappointed James Gunn didn't end up releasing a GOTG trailer during the Super Bowl.

I thought he might've been lying when he said there wouldn't be one to throw people off.

I hope his awesome reveal will be worth it.
ckal - 2/3/2014, 6:03 AM
He's not the one that says the 'A holes' line in the clip. It's whoever the dude is behind him that says it.

He says 'they call themselves the gotg', the other guy says 'what a bunch of a holes', and then Reilly smirks.

I have a bad feeling about this movie....everything I saw (wich is not a lot) from this film is mediocre at best...I actually don't know how this will turn out...but I can say I am not excited about this movie...and I don't trust gunn...
AlphaDean - 2/3/2014, 6:14 AM
Captain America is gonna rock
LastAvenger99 - 2/3/2014, 6:20 AM
@TheUltimateSuperman92

I agree I'm excited for the film to but from what I saw with the comic-con trailer, and even the end credits scene at the end of Thor, it doesn't look that good. like Marvel Doctor Who lol but I like doctor who so i guess it can't be that bad
ABLEE337 - 2/3/2014, 6:25 AM

Reed Rothchild as Chest Rockwell, still cracks me up.

WYLEEJAY - 2/3/2014, 7:08 AM

Like Agent Coulson minus the charm.

@TheDemonsHead Lol! John C. Reilly isn't playing Nova. He is part of the Nova Corps, which is why there is pic with him and Nova.

@mgeoff
Ceejay - 2/3/2014, 7:47 AM
I'd be more surprised if this film became a massive hit let alone any level of a success considering its going to the most devoid of human element out of all the Marvel flicks. Fanboys alone and the MARVEL name may not be enough to cut it. They're going to have to produce something soon to peak the interests of joe-average otherwise I sense a massive flop.
JoJo1982 - 2/3/2014, 7:50 AM
That's not Nova in behind him trust I saw the FULL 5 minute trailer at sdcc

It's some guy named Peter Serafinowicz that was behind john c Reilly and he's not playing Nova
I think he's like one of the higher ranks officer
Pasto - 2/3/2014, 8:00 AM
