The speculation of shared gaming universe among DC characters has always felt like a dream and nothing more, right? Well, new reports say otherwise. Hit the jump for more!

New reports are flooding in and are saying that perhaps the king of easter eggs, Rocksteady, are planning on expanding the "Arkhamverse" in the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight. Specifically, it's being said Rocksteady will drop hints that the Justice League does exist via radio messages across the game (something we have seen done with the Riddler, Alfred, Oracle, etc). Batman will pass by ongoing radios where newscasters are reporting on other heroes, villains, or possibly specific locations in the DCU. Rocksteady are no strangers to using radios to drop easter eggs, keep in mind. But that's not all; Superman is supposedly set to visit Gotham and offer Bruce help during this time in his life. However, Bruce of course denies the offer and we don't see Superman for the rest of the game. The other big rumor going around is Rocksteady is considering giving another hero the video game treatment. Could that hero in fact be Superman? One would have to think that, right?

Now, take this with a big grain of salt even though this does seem to have some logic behind the idea of Superman appearing. It appears WB has been trying to give their DC properties a big push in recent years, and Rocksteady currently has no plans for the future. Plus, with Batman vs Superman due in two years, it wouldn't be surprising to see the two teaming up in some form before then. Nevertheless, this is just another rumor that needs to be taken lightly.

BONUS!: Hit the link below to hear game director Stefton Hill talk about the challenges of keeping gampeplay fresh but at the same time similar in Batman's latest outing.

Until next time, still classy my friends.

Batman Arkham Knight is due out this fall and will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC

dethpillow - 3/17/2014, 1:51 PM
i don't think they could possibly just add in Superman as a playable character tho. that just sounds crazy. if that happens, i'll actually buy one of those stupid new systems. but how would they do that? wow, i gotta pay attention to this one.

if they ever actually came out with a playable Superman game like Arkham, i would just go insane. i don't know that much about his whole history and stuff but wow. that would be really rad.

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 3/17/2014, 1:52 PM
From the rumor, it would be a very very small part. I like that. As long as he doesn't play a huge part in the story.
dethpillow - 3/17/2014, 1:53 PM
I see him more as popping in and being a person you can't control.
dethpillow - 3/17/2014, 1:53 PM
still... [frick]ing rad.

CaptainObvious - 3/17/2014, 1:59 PM
Metropolis was mentioned in Arkham City, so it's possible.
Tony93 - 3/17/2014, 1:59 PM

Be great to see! Be very interested in seeing how Rocksteady would potentially handle Superman in his own game, would have to be very different and quite tricky to pull off
johnboyMCU - 3/17/2014, 2:02 PM
awesomeeeeeeeeeeee if true!!!!cant wait awesome year possibly the best for the comic book genre
ALegendaryPanda - 3/17/2014, 2:06 PM
Oh yes. Oh HELL YES!
SaxoWolf - 3/17/2014, 2:06 PM
It would be interesting to see a Green Arrow game made by Rocksteady
JoeMomma29 - 3/17/2014, 2:06 PM
They need to make this happen and blow open a whole video game universe.
Knightrider - 3/17/2014, 2:07 PM
Well unless Rocksteady was being very coy with their "This is our last Arkham game" leading fans to believe they won't be doing another. Unless that meant that after this, they are making a Justice League game, or another character.

Would love Superman, maybe he'll pop up, but will be playable as a DLC or pre-order bonus so get a disc with Metropolis and a Superman stage on it.
sappro - 3/17/2014, 2:09 PM
A Superman game should really focus on some Smallville interaction. Because it's difficult to engage Clark's character development without Smallville. It seems dumb to just drop Superman in Metropolis and have him flying around.
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 2:10 PM
That's cool as [frick]!

I'm eager to see what the Arkhamverse Superman looks like.
Pedrito - 3/17/2014, 2:16 PM
Alright, but he's gotta have to fly through rings like in Superman 64.
staypuffed - 3/17/2014, 2:19 PM
Yeah, BlackJack!
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 2:29 PM
They'd have to make the map the same size or bigger than GTA V for a Superman game.

Personally, I think a linear platform game would suck for Superman. If they're going to let me play as Superman, I want the freedom of being able to fly around the city, saving people and shit, like Spider-Man 2.
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 2:32 PM
Obviously, Superman wouldn't die, but they could make the Health system work similar to Superman Returns, where as if Superman fails to save a civilian, he loses health.
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 2:35 PM
For example, a thug could be shooting at Superman and the bullets could bounce of him and hit the civilians, or he could shoot the civilians, and the more civilians he hurts or kills, the more the health bar goes down.
unknownfacts - 3/17/2014, 2:36 PM
Well here comes the over speculation on their next game.
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 2:44 PM
So in effect, the aim of the game, in free roam especially, would be saving civilians. If you fail to save civilians, you lose health, and it's game over!

Now that's how you make a Superman game.

Oh and you're welcome Rocksteady.
MrCBM - 3/17/2014, 2:45 PM
Awesome!!! I hope it's true
Knightrider - 3/17/2014, 2:47 PM
@Batmaniac Why can't Superman die? There are plenty of potenial villians that could cause him problems. Granted your average thug won't, but maybe they'll take the Arkham approach and the people have left the city as a major threat is coming.

It'll be about the story, personally I would to be able to play as Clark Kent to...I want to be able to change into Superman at anytime I choose, but this would allow for a more investigation type game.

Yep, would have to be freeroam. They would also need to alter the combat system so that you can have fights that go through buildings, incorporate the surroundings etc.
batcheeks8 - 3/17/2014, 2:48 PM

rad gif
batcheeks8 - 3/17/2014, 2:49 PM
Man I hope this is true.. excitement for this game is through the roof
NextHero08 - 3/17/2014, 2:55 PM
DC: tv, video games, animation and soon, film...this means war
GeekyCheekyChic - 3/17/2014, 2:56 PM
Rocksteady should also do a Green Arrow game and maybe Flash...those four things would make me happy: Arkham Knight, Metropolis, Central City, Starling City
MrSotoMan - 3/17/2014, 3:00 PM
It looks like we might be getting a Justice League game next if it is being introduced through the radio....Hmm........
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 3:02 PM
If you're playing as Superman, you want the true Superman experience. Superman's life is rarely in danger. As you probably already know, Superman can dish as much as he takes, and he can dish a lot.

Kryptonite could make the game boring easily. Sure, it weakens Superman, but it's never fun when it happens. When you're playing a game, you want to have fun, and that's what counts most. Gameplay ALWAYS comes before the story, because once the story is all said and done, all you're left with is the gameplay.

That's why GTA is so big, because at the end of it all, they have it has incredible replay value thanks the way the game is made.

Superman's health bar shouldn't be measured by his own health. It should be measure by the those around him, like the civilians. At the end of the day, Superman saves people. That's the focus of his heroic career, so it should be the focus of the game. You want to feel like Superman when you're saving people, and kryptonite literally takes the super away from Superman.

So sure, use Kryptonite in a mission with Lex Luthor, or give stronger thugs Kryptonite or Kryptonian based weapons so they're attack have a bigger impact on Superman, but the Health bar should represent the civilians Heath, because harming them is how the villains can truly hurt Superman.
Vegeta - 3/17/2014, 3:10 PM
The way to approach Superman being able to travel from one end of the map to another is implanting a quick travel mechanic. However, instead of marking a point on a map screen, they could have an animation of Superman flying high in the sky and picking a point a point the open world fly too, so it keeps you immersed in the gameplay.

The map would obviously have to be big. I'm thinking GTA big, so they could cover Smallville, Metropolis and some country side.
