Disney XD's ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Renewed For A Second Season

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man animated series has been renewed for a second season. More details can be found after the jump.

The Hollywood Reporter have broken the news that Disney XD's first programme in their Marvel Universe lineup, Ultimate Spider-Man, has been renewed for a second season. This news should come as no surprise as it has been fairing well with the younger demographic, despite many older Spider-Man fans being disappointed with the kiddie tone. Below are some excerpts from THR's article, including some hints of what we should expect in the second season of the show.

The creative team behind the animated series, which includes co-executive producers Man of Action Studios as well as creative consultant Paul Dini, will return for Season 2. Ultimate Spider-Man scribe Brian Michael Bendis (Powers) will also return as consulting producer and pen additional installments of the series.

Season 2 will feature Spider-Man team with other heroes from the Marvel Universe including the Avengers as well as explore the origin of S.H.I.E.L.D. trainees with more revealed about Nova, Iron Fist, Power Man and White Tiger.

"With Season 2, the series introduces popular Marvel heroes and villains you've never seen before on the small screen," Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said.

Added Disney XD vp and GM David Levine: "As the anchor of our Marvel Universe block, Ultimate Spider-Man Season 2 will be back with more humor, villains and adventurous storylines that boys (and girls) will love."

kids will be pleased,animation is good but its very childish in its humor.

avengers assemble better not be like this,i need one animated show i can actually watch.

It's a great show if you look at it for what it is, a children's television show. The animation is good, the humor is funny but meant for children, and the length of the show is right for a child who only has an attention span of about 20 minutes lol. It's not as good as the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, but still it's a great show.

Okay, look, here's how I evaluate the two camps here:

For those who like the show, that's fine, but see if kids can tell if it's dumb or not.

I struggled through about 4 episodes and wrote it off. Didn't care for it at all. I can see how the kids would probably like it.

I wouldn't judge Marvel's ability to do a live action Spidey film on a kids cartoon. I'll gladly take Marvel's track record on live action films.
