The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field; the film is set to hit Blu-ray and DVD November 9th, 2012.

"Developing The Amazing Spider-Man Video Game " - Shameless! (lol!)

And the pre-viz sequences are going to be (i guess) storyboarded illustrations and 3dsMax illustrations for the set pieces.

Its hard to even guesstimate what any potential deleted scenes could do for the movie without having run-times listed.

@ Grif
Oh shut up, you're looking forward to The Last Stand you can't say shit.

I am also curious as to what the deleted scenes are. There were a lot of scenes from the trailers that didn't make it into the movie such as the Curt Conners quote,"Are you ready to play god." Some of the conversation from the dinner scene with Peter and Gwen Stacy's family was taken out, a scene of Peter yelling at the Lizard, as well as the Dr. Ratha quote, "Do you have any idea what you really are?" And I think there was more. Not to mention we didn't get the untold story, so I predict there's probably going to be a LOT of delete and alternate scenes.

@CrimsonArk

Chill out, at least Grif hates all films equally.

@darkknight2149:

They said the "untold story" will be "told" throughout the movies. It wasnt cut, they just didnt really get into it yet.

Holy shit that is a lot of extras.
CaptainObvious - 8/21/2012, 11:52 AM
@TimL- There certainly wasn't an untold story in this film.
95 - 8/21/2012, 11:56 AM
More of a reason to wait to see it first on Blu-ray.

if it comes with the half of the movie they left on the cutting room floor.... then, yes. its a buy.
ThaMessenger07 - 8/21/2012, 12:02 PM
Awesome, Can't wait to get this DVD. I really enjoyed the movie!
CanadaMan - 8/21/2012, 12:04 PM
I'm betting that "A Different Fate" is referring to Doctor Ratha's death in the original cut of the film (which I've seen stills of on here); it could be that the reason they cut out all those scenes and had to do reshoots was because these scenes contained references or or had some connection to Ratha's death. Who knows, it could completely change the tone or focus of the film!!! :o
McNyagano - 8/21/2012, 12:09 PM
i mean if someone takes all those deleted scenes and put them in the movie..it will be great..."The Untold Story" ended up being "the Exact Same Story" we saw in Raimi's first film
DeMoNaSsDiZ - 8/21/2012, 12:10 PM
just let me know when the dvdrip hit's the web. i won't spend money on this shit.
superotherside - 8/21/2012, 12:14 PM
Awesome. Can't wait to see more from the "Untold Story".
Jollem - 8/21/2012, 12:26 PM
they did tell the first part to the untold story. they just didn't answer all the questions. they will most likely be answered later.

i think tasm had the same story as spider-man as much as burton's batman had the same story as batman begins
TheAmazingSlade - 8/21/2012, 12:31 PM
I'm starting to get damn tired of Sony, how big is the chance that sony may allow marvel to use Spidey in The Avengers 2?
DrDoom - 8/21/2012, 12:35 PM
LOL.

Like I'm going to pay money for this movie.
TheGothamKnight1939 - 8/21/2012, 12:50 PM
@ImmortalVigilante

There is a discussion with the actor who played the guy who killed Uncle Ben on the SchmoesKnow podcast. I recommend listening to it, it's their TASM review show. But, the gist of that part was like this:

The actor spoke with Avi Arad about it. Avi told him they were finalizing negotiation to have it take place in the same universe and the Oscorp tower Easter Egg that was going to be in The Avengers but wasn't in there because they couldn't finish it in time was going to be the first step.
TrueRedBlue - 8/21/2012, 1:20 PM
As a die-hard Spider-Man fan, it earned my seal of approval. I freakin' adored this film. I will definitely be buying this as soon as possible!

@Jollem

"i think tasm had the same story as spider-man as much as burton's batman had the same story as batman begins"

Surely you jest good sir?!

Jollem - 8/21/2012, 2:50 PM
@breakUbatman - why no, sir. not at all

-no harry osborn, no mary jane. enter, gwen stacy and george stacy and family
-started in high school, stayed in high school
-no college, no daily bugle job, no j.j., no apartment
-flash was not a one-dimensional bully
-the storyline involving peter's parents
-oscorp and norman osborn's condition and the shady going-ons
-cross-species genetics
-the main villain wanted to "cure"/transform a good number of new york's citizens
-uncle ben's death and the mugger and the spider bite were very different
-seeing cops actually go after the vigilante spider-man like they mean it
-exploring the powers went different
-more wise-cracking spidey
-no organic web shooters
-a villain didn't die
-connor's didn't have a split personality he was talking with like norman did
-those were thoughts in his head
-it showed peter making the suit
-using his webs more in a fight
-people at oscorp are aware that peter is spider-man

there's probably more reasons why tasm is not basically the same as spider-man

tasm rocked my socks off. i'm more interested in tasm 2 than i am phase deuce and man of steel. man of steel is gonna be sweet, tho
BatSlam - 8/21/2012, 3:33 PM
damn , awesome. i love special features. My wife on the other hand cant stand them so i always have to fit them in when she isn't watching.
MrZoolittle - 8/21/2012, 4:00 PM
TASM was very good, the ending left me wan't more. I can' t wait for the 2nd one.
Tomontherun99 - 8/21/2012, 5:42 PM
Damn, that's a lot of special features, good to know Sony is going all-out for this release.
Jaspion - 8/21/2012, 7:15 PM
I know you guys will bring me all the hate, but I prefer TASM to TDKR.
MJPETTY7 - 8/21/2012, 8:17 PM
That's a LOT of features... Only interested in the Deleted Scenes though for this movie.
breakUbatman - 8/21/2012, 10:49 PM
Jollem

I actually found the similarities to be quite off-putting, I'm not a stickler for being comic accurate I prefer a good movie first and consider movies as separate from the comics. I wont go into obvious Spidey stuff like costumes or characters

TASM/Spidey '02
-Pining and taking photos of love interest
-Villain is pressured into experimenting on self
-Uncle Ben dies after big fight with Peter
-Spidey starts out wearing a red mask as his home made suit
-Citizens come to Spidey's rescue
-Saves kid(s) on a bridge
-First encounter with villain involves villain going after the suit(s) from work
-Villain deduces Spidey's id
-Spidey's powers kick in after falling asleep
-Get's into a fight because of his new powers
-Supporting characters father's funeral at the end
-Flash's first scene is bullying, second scene is shown up by Peter
-No reason given for suit color choices ( I would have liked one)
-Origin story

Batman Begins/Batman '89
-Villain dies
-I'm Batman line
-Gotham run by crime boss
-Batman is just starting out
-Love interest brought to the Batcave
Jollem - 8/22/2012, 2:00 AM
@breakUbatman - i think one of the first things i posted on this site was something like; if your'e a comics fan, can't you just be okay with seeing your favorite superhero doing his or her thing on the silver screen?(apparently not, in a lot of cases:) i was always aware that movies are their own universe, even when i saw burton's first batman or tmnt in the theater or the cap movie on vhs, etc. you say you prefer a good movie first, but can't get over similarities to two movies because one is a reboot. well, put on a hardhat, 'cause hollywood has always and will continue to remake/reboot stuff :)

-Pining and taking photos of love interest

he can't pine? that's too similar? he's a high school kid. they get crushes. peter's got a camera. i think i would have been like, huh?, if peter never took a picture of gwen.

-Villain is pressured into experimenting on self

that is similar i guess.

-Uncle Ben dies after big fight with Peter

uncle ben's death is handled entirely different in both films(well, all of them if you wanna count the trippy dream sequences) i liked how they both went but i thought it was more emotional and impactful in tasm.

-Spidey starts out wearing a red mask as his home made suit

this is off-putting? howzabout if it was purple? :)

-Citizens come to Spidey's rescue

this is similar and different. in the '02 it was just that. the reason in tasm is because of one guy at the start. the guy who led the charge was a guy who directly was helped by spider-man. he was returning the favor and got some people to help out.

-Saves kid(s) on a bridge

they went differently.

-First encounter with villain involves villain going after the suit(s) from work

yeah, that really wasn't an encounter. peter told gwen he didn't know what it was and he only saw it for a little bit. dr. ratha didn't get vaporized by a pumpkin bomb. now THAT would be off-putting :)

-Villain deduces Spidey's id

oh, c'mon. this is classic superhero stuff.

-Spidey's powers kick in after falling asleep

now it feels like yer just reaching :)

-Get's into a fight because of his new powers

well, not because of. rather, it was just afterwards. dealing with a bully, then becoming stronger and faster, and then yer NOT gonna have any interaction afterward? that would have been criminal. also, it was handled way differently.

-Supporting characters father's funeral at the end

you could put it that way. you could also put it; the main villain-the green goblin died at the end of the first one. in tasm, a police captain who fought the main villain died.

-Flash's first scene is bullying, second scene is shown up by Peter

peter's interactions with flash were very different in both films. i liked how they handled it more in tasm.

-No reason given for suit color choices ( I would have liked one)

i thought you said you weren't going to go into costumes? :) well, the spider that bit peter was transparent, red, and blue. so, there ya go. yer welcome :)

-Origin story

oh, they are very different, good sir. as per the reasons i have stated here and in my previous post.

in a reboot, similarities are gonna happen. they are unavoidable sometimes.

not saying you are, but i think some people get really defensive over sam raimi's films, which is cool. i love the spidey love. everyone involved with tasm sure seemed to like raimi's films.
breakUbatman - 8/22/2012, 3:23 AM
@Jollem

My point isn't that I have a problem with that stuff, my point is that TASM is not to Spider-Man what Begins was to Batman.

Things may have been handled differently i.e more web slinging, cross species etc but you still end up watching Peter gaining his powers, getting the girl and having to fight a scientist gone bad.

I mention the mask because it is not essential to the comics or films that he start out with a home made red mask, yet Webb chose to do it.

The falling asleep and waking up with powers is no less of a grasp than saying the movie is different because the villain didn't die or he uses his webs more.

The main difference between the two is quality of acting and directing, and the Parker/Oscorp subplot. Take that away its the same story.

Maybe when I watch it again I'll like this movie more but for now I have a love/hate relationship with it.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 8/22/2012, 6:26 AM
I enjoyed TASM. It wasn't as good as the Avengers or TDKR, but it was entertaining and the effects were excellent. I'll pick up the blu ray.
TimL - 8/22/2012, 7:10 AM
You cant do that much different anyways. In the end it will ALWAYS be kind of the same story (Peter gets his powers, uncle ben dies etc). Stop complaining that it is the same as Spider-Man '02.
xinstituto - 8/22/2012, 7:36 AM
I prefere to keep the original trilogy in my colection.. this reboot didnt work =/
SpiderRock33 - 8/23/2012, 8:36 PM
Wow, Now i can watch Douchebag Spider-man in 3D. In all his Douchebag Glory. Awesome.
