Erica Schultz (Writer) thoughts on the novel:

“This story takes us way back to before Emily had any experience in her ‘takedowns’. She makes mistakes. She learns from some of them, but, as you’ll see, she has a hard time learning some lessons and fans of the show will be pleased to pick up on a few Easter Eggs hidden here and there.”

Series writer Ted Sullivan then adds:

“Emily is a comic book character!” exclaims “Revenge” “She has a secret identity. She’s poses as a rich socialite who exacts revenge for a childhood tragedy. Even her famous dark “hoodie” is a type of superhero costume. She has all the classic comic book tropes that make her and her adventures a perfect fit for an original graphic novel with Marvel.”

“Revenge” returns with all new episodes Sunday, March 9th at 10 p.m. on The ABC Television Network. “Revenge” stars Emily VanCamp as Amanda Clarke/Emily Thorne, Madeleine Stowe as Victoria Grayson, Gabriel Mann as Nolan Ross, Henry Czerny as Conrad Grayson, Josh Bowman as Daniel Grayson, Nick Weschler as Jack Porter, Christa B. Allen as Charlotte Clarke, and Barry Sloane as Aiden Mathis. “Revenge” is executive-produced by Sunil Nayar, Marty Bowen & Wyck Godfrey and Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts. The series, created by Mike Kelley, is produced by ABC Studios.

Kind of has a Kill Bill vibe to it doesn't it?
IcemanX - 2/18/2014, 11:27 AM
Revenge is awesome!!!

@ndwwrestler2 No, Amanda/Emily is not violant like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. She takes revenge with wits.

Wait...isn't this show a soap-opera? Why is it getting a comic book and why does she looks like a badass assassin?
ndwwrestler2 - 2/18/2014, 11:49 AM
@Nick56 Dude remember Arrow. It can be soapy and awesome at the same time.
Nick56 - 2/18/2014, 11:53 AM
@ndwwrestler2 Yeah but Arrow is still a comic book show, is there anything really comic book-ish about revenge?

Like is the main character an Elektra type character/assassin, because that is the vibe im getting from the cover.

a lot of really great comic books are basically soap operas. but like soap operas made for adolescent boys. various X-Men titles have definitely seemed like that to me. the soap opera idea is pretty cool. i went thru a year and a half living with someone who'd watch Days of Our Lives every day. i got addicted. the writing's generally worse, for sure. those people are doing an hour long show every goddam day of the year, so sometimes it just really sucks, but aside from that, it's pretty much the same thing as X-Men or Spider-Man or Daredevil or whatever.

soap operas also play into a lot of David Lynch's stuff. in a different way than comic books, or course, but i think soap operas are actually pretty rad and get a bad rap most of the time. they suck, yeah, but everyone already knows that who watches them.

i don't know anything about Revenge tho. this makes me maybe wanna check it out sometime tho, i'd never heard of it before.
