Marvel Comics. . . Theme Park!

That's right, concept art has just been released for an ENTIRE theme park dedicated to Marvel characters.

Most of Marvel's superheroes will have their own individual attractions including: the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, the X-Men, Silver Surfer, and, of course, Spider-man. According to a a recent post of Brady MacDonald of the L.A Times "Off-site testing has already begun on three of the planned attractions: "Flying with Spidey," "Fantasticar," and "X-Men: Danger Room".

Q: Can you guess where this park will be located (look below for the answer)?

A: Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The park is a joint venture between the Al Ahli Group and Marvel Entertainment. It will supposedly cost around $1 billion to construct, and is scheduled to open in 2012.

Im not in the least bit suprised that something of this scale would be in Dubai! I cant imagine how [frick]ing amazing it'll be if it looks even a fraction like the images above!

I remeber the 3D Spiderman ride in univeral studios! It was Awesome!! Well it was when I was 12!!

This looks like a great Idea and putting it out side the US is a great idea but instead of Dubai I think it would be even better in my garden!!

This looks realy good. Only the names of the rides sound a bit lame. "flying with spidey" FTW!
As for Dubai, that's realy just retarded. The Island they build is allready in financial need. And why drop a park in a sandpit :S. Just put it somewhere in Europe!

Well I would have preferred it to be opened in the u.s., but hey, beggars can't be choosers. This is great news! Marvel really seems to be dominating nowadays. I like the designs for the park. This place is really gonna be big (both literally and figuratively).

Multi@ all ur points r valid...but wouldnt sumtin like this help boost the u.s. economy?...i dont kno alotta ppl who can afford 2 fly 2 dubai ontop of the im sure expensive as hell park tickets and expences...o well maybe disney world will add sum marvel stuff...oh and dubai does look like paradise!

i think its mostly in Dubai because of Universal Studios' next park is gonna be in dubai, that would be another reason to visit Dubai, for both parks, Universal is actually using Marvel more than Disney, i wish they would've bought them instead cause they obviously know how to use Marvel

i think the "wakanda" picture is actually an x-men related area if you look at the picture closely, you can see some of the x-men like the banner on the top left corner of the picture appears to be wolverine

Yes it is disapointing that it's in Dubai for those of us who live in the U.S. including myself. But MPP is right, they actually made a theme park about superheroes, even if it's in Dubai who cares? It could be a "Super Adventure"! So suck it up fellow Americans, we live in a country where we can get a job and save money so we can travel if we wanted to!

Looking at some of the amazing stuff thats been built in Dubai the past few years, it could actually be a good thing that its being built there! I just hope it doesnt end up being tacky - I think that theres always a risk of something like that but with $1 billion being spent I highly doubt in on second thoughts! :P

This is a Joke, there in NO way they are building an amusement park for Marvel in Dubai, it would be bankrupt before the 1st year was over. Who would frequent the place, Osama and a bunch of Sheiks?

Actually Multi, i'm Canadian and you couldn't pay me enough to go there. I don't know if the rules and regulations work similar to in Oman but i know someone that moved there and let me just tell you that you're lucky to be married. It's not a very "unmarried couple" friendly environement. And since i don't believe in marriage, civil or religious, i'm not going there.

I'm Canadian, but the first place they should have built the park should have been in either California or Florida.

Dubai is too expensive for the average Joe to afford.

I'm never going to Dubai, and neither are the majority of posters here. It's a nice dream, but essentially, that's the long and the short of it.

And let me cap that with F*CK DUBAI. I'm about to sound like a bigot because what I'm about to say is bigoted, but I'm sick to death of the middle east. I'm sick of seeing it on the news with a suicide bomber here and a car bombing there. I'm really sick with this whole "war on terrorism" horseshit, bring our people home, and I'm talking about from everywhere on earth we have a fukcing military base, and close those bases. I'm tired of seeing billionaires with towels on their heads surrounded by gold everywhere they go while espousing the evils of the "decadent Americans". When I look at pictures of Dubai, I think to myself firstly, I wonder where the money for all that came from? The oil we clamor for like idiots over here? Drug sales? The video is of John Stewart's Daily Show, and he is essentially making fun of the fact that the country is only 30+ years old and they are already 600Billion dollars in debt. Regardless of what they make every year in tourism, that's a much much bigger hole. The fact that it all comes from loans is irrelevant, as most of our debt comes from loans too, and were in debt to the tune of Twelve Trillion dollars. Imagine a loan that big being like a snowball, and to pay it off you roll it downhill hoping people will come pay to see it roll. In the meantime, it's picking up more debt all the way down until it explodes.

Disney should have made that in the US or some other European nation, not Dubai. Arabs could give a fukc about comic books, they care about oil and killing us.

thanks for the info. actually comic books are international so Arabs do care about comic books too. i would like it to be in America but if they have a contract to do it overseas well we cant do anything about it. also this has nothing to do with Disney cause the deal was done way before Marvel joined Disney.

Multi- I'll set foot on their soil and spend my money there WHEN their neighbours change their views through and through. I mean, i'd LOVE to go to Tibet but until China pulls outa there, i'll stay at home. Hmmm...I just think this is strange. If you look at the fan base for Marvel in general, can they afford to go to Dubai? Granted, the MOVIES do well internationally, but would those movie goers fork over the money to go to the theme park? People do it for Disneyland...but it's freakin Disneyland!

I love the idea, and of course, I'd love for it to be in the US, but I just see financial failure written all over this. In 2007, the world wasn't in such a financial crap hole either.

Maybe I missed this, but why is this info just getting out anyways? I would have thought this was a pretty big deal two years ago...

Scru Dubi!!! that part of the world gets too much of our money!! take a drive through floridas residential areas or california's if you have the stones and I don't mean the hills or boca raton we need the work in this country and from what I've seen people are not being choosy with what they do!! sorry for poping off like an ass but just getting tired of seeing empty houses and empty malls and I don't mean people I mean borded up malls or better yet go to orlando disney and see all the elderly who lost there money who have become greeters for the rides!

I was just about to comment and say that I would definitely go to that. But now that I know WHERE it's gonna be, there isn't a snowflake's chance in hell that I am going.

I have heard that it's 'different" in Dubai before but I just don't care. I DO NOT travel anywhere in the third world and I never will.
That of course includes Mexico, South America and the Middle East

And it's not because I am ignorant, either. Actually it's because I am exactly the opposite of ignorant.

Darth, just curious, why wouldn't you travel anywhere in the 3rd world? I spent 6 months travelling around South America and it was the most amazing experience of my life. No one robbed me, no one was rude to me, no one showed me an ill will. Iv had worse experiences in so called "advanced" countries.

ecksmanfan that was my thought...I mean Dubai is the playground for the super rich, not your average joe. The concept art looks a little dated, I mean a Nickelodeon area? I doubt Disney would allow universal to make a new park featuring characters they plan to yank the rights back as soon as universal's contract comes up.

I does look sweet though, but it seems like a pipe dream from before the merger.
