According to Deadline, Neil Marshall (Director of films such as The Descent, Doomsday, Centurion, and an episode of Game of Thrones) has been chosen to direct the upcoming pilot for the latest DC Comics television show Constantine.

Neil Marshall (The Descent) is set to direct NBC’s drama pilot Constantine, from Warner Bros TV. Based on the characters in DC Comics’ John Constantine stories, Constantine centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond. The project was written by Daniel Cerone from a story by him and David S. Goyer.

The television show, which was preluded by a movie starring Keanu Reeves in 200, will debut on NBC as the pilot has recently been ordered with the excellent writing talents of David S. Goyer(Man of Steel) and Daniel Cerone. No cast has been announced yet at this time.

John Constantine, who first appeared in 1985 as a recurring character in the horror series The Saga Of The Swamp Thing, was created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano. He was portrayed by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 feature Constantine and is rumored to be featured in the Justice League Dark feature Warner Bros has in the works with Guillermo del Toro.

Here's to hoping for an Arrow crossover.

...A PsychoManicJacky article that's not a parody article written in a drunken stupor?
Whoa.
bluedude - 1/30/2014, 10:21 PM

PsychoManiacJacky - 1/30/2014, 10:21 PM
Yes didn't you know I often write news articles?
ALmight - 1/30/2014, 10:30 PM
"excellent writing talents of David Goyer " lol, funniest thing I've read all day.
Arrowhead77 - 1/30/2014, 10:31 PM

PsychoManiacJacky - 1/30/2014, 10:35 PM
Thought you would enjoy that humor ALmight lol.

smh
Reasonnnn - 1/30/2014, 10:42 PM
All depends on the script (huge if) and production values. Even Neil Marshall can't turn shit into gold (aka Michael Bay's BLACK SAILS TV pilot).
ALmight - 1/30/2014, 10:48 PM
Kidding aside I do hope this is good. Will there still be a Justice League Dark if this pilot is picked up?
bluedude - 1/30/2014, 10:49 PM
I think I remember del torro saying that hed be willing to incorporate stuff like this into his movie (if it happens)
whoa123 - 1/30/2014, 10:55 PM
Cool, I like the guy's works
savag3410 - 1/30/2014, 11:16 PM

BlackIceJoe - 1/30/2014, 11:19 PM
Well I hope they find a British actor for the part. I would if Swamp Thing has any chance of being in the show or Zatanna?
Humperdink - 1/30/2014, 11:26 PM

Here's to hoping for an Arrow crossover.

Are they going to go with the NEW Constantine?
I was hoping they'd go with the other one from the canceled series.

The one without superheroes in it.

I love how everyone trashes goyer. The guy isnt perfect but he has writen better movies and had more success than everyones favorite god(whedon). Its hilarious to think how 85% of cbm.com idolizes whedon for doing one good movie and some lame tv shows(buffy). Yet these same people bitch and complain about anything and everything Goyer does. Goyer is trying to write the DCU that everyone has wanted, but instead of being happy people would rather bitch and trash him. There is Way too much hate in the world
BenjiWest - 1/30/2014, 11:50 PM
Jacky you decided to get this, good job.
Reasonnnn - 1/31/2014, 12:11 AM
@BatmanRobinNightwing He has good stories (TDK trilogy) but he didn't write them except for Batman Begins.
loki668 - 1/31/2014, 12:15 AM
Has Keanu auditioned yet? Any word on when they'll announce his casting for the lead? ;)
MightyZeus - 1/31/2014, 12:21 AM
Looking forward to The Constantine tv show although the choice of director for the pilot is unusual. The director's only good film was "The Descent".

The Constantine film was good for what it was. It's the only tolerable Keanu Reeves film i can sit through.
MrChuff - 1/31/2014, 12:26 AM
"The television show which was previously followed by a movie starring Keanu Reeves in 2005 will debut on NBC"

.....and that's what you call "bad sentence structure", kids.
novaprime - 1/31/2014, 12:31 AM
Great Director!
nailbiter111 - 1/31/2014, 12:39 AM
article looks very nice. well done.
naterator - 1/31/2014, 12:42 AM
@Mr chuff... Lol. I want gonna say anything my I was starting to go cross eyed reading that sentence.
On a side note.... The movie was alright... Would have liked to have seen a sequel. There are worse movies out there that got sequels.....
Humperdink - 1/31/2014, 12:45 AM
@MrChuff

It is a bit awkward.

How about:

The Constantine TV show, which will debut on NBC, comes after a 2005 feature film version that starred actor Keanu Reeves in the titular role.
megabatfan - 1/31/2014, 12:55 AM
I really hope this is connected to Arrow & The Flash. Not necessarily looking for Stephen Amell or Gustin Grant to appear in an episode of the NBC show, but a name drop or news report which will establish they're all in the same universe will suit me fine.
PsychoManiacJacky - 1/31/2014, 1:25 AM
Okay guys! Seriously I get it, the sentence sounds weird to some of you. I thought if I wrote it from a less direct form and more in a journalistic form it would work. I am terribly sorry.
Humperdink - 1/31/2014, 1:31 AM
Dude don't apologize!
It's not a big deal.

I think it's a pretty good read. I think you did a good job.
I hadn't really focused on that sentence until it was pointed out.
mgeoff88 - 1/31/2014, 1:37 AM
Nice article Jacky.

I haven't really seen his work, but I know some of the listed movies he directed are horror movies.

He seems like a good fit to helm the Constantine pilot.

@zDominic Huh??? I think you commented on the wrong article, man.
BatmanBegins80 - 1/31/2014, 1:45 AM
NBC is wrong for Constantine. I wanna see the hardcore stuff!

Jacky has officially gone full retard.
jjk2814 - 1/31/2014, 2:29 AM
you know what,
I'd honestly be happy with DC becoming the go-to source for Television Comicbook drama and Marvel always the champion of the cinematic universe.
CherryBomb - 1/31/2014, 2:38 AM
Well, his tone of resume seems pretty well suited!
Nice!
MrNiklander - 1/31/2014, 3:07 AM
I love the choice too bad we wont see it as a movie
KeithM - 1/31/2014, 3:21 AM
I'm anxiously awaiting casting news before I get excited.

If they cast John as an American, I'll be most disappointed and it will definitely reduce my anticipation considerably. It still might be ok, but it won't be JC.
jimoakley666 - 1/31/2014, 3:24 AM
British John or fuk the motherfuk off.
SuperCat - 1/31/2014, 3:37 AM
Enjoyed "The Descent." Sounds like the right guy for the job.
